Suggestions for Potco?

Post your suggestions here...I would love to hear some of them.

livewire82 10-28-2007 09:02 PM

i have a suggestion for the guild system, i think there should be a option to allow guild masters and guild officers to leave notes for the other guild members to read, kinda like wow did with the mail box at the inn's but maybe with pirates we could have our own guild huts in which we can post info for the members or maybe even someplace on our ships... it would be great for our clan to leave our ventrilo info for our members, i know it's a long shot but i think it's a great idea..

Awesome_The Pirate 10-28-2007 10:25 PM

I think they should put some guild hangouts around for the guild member to hang around in.

Trevinator 10-29-2007 12:19 AM

I agree

The guild system has not really been useful at all. Whats the point unless they add more features for it. So yes I agree with you guys.

Owoooo 10-29-2007 12:32 AM

There should be shops where you can dress up your character with gold or "tickets" similar to Toontown. There should also be a ton more enemies. There wasn't enough even at it's first beta. And yes, the guild system needs to be updated as well.

HaveAMagicalDay 10-29-2007 01:20 AM

What about being able to keep our items, instead of trading it in automatically for gold? Then, trade it to other people, then leaving it from your inventory?

Trevinator 10-29-2007 03:15 AM

Trading

Honestly where is the trading?
The clothing should be on it's way..
The enemies, well there will probly be more. Im sure!

/agree

Also, a group finding system, like most MMO's. Or at least /lfg!

For that matter, emotes!
And also, a couple different weapons from the beginning. I don't want all to be forced to just use the sword all the time.

Also, Cuba is too far away! :laughks2:

IMO, so far most of this game is just ok. The only thing that really makes it stand out and be awesome is the ship combat with crews. (now imagine a Star Wars MMO with Starship fighting like that...drool)

Funny you should mention that....I was thinking the same thing the other night. Space was one of my favorite parts of SWG, but really, you were better off in most cases flying a ship by yourself. I wish they would have found a way to make a ship that had a crew worth it.

My suggestions for POTC are:
1) continue to add content that crosses the barriers between land and sea;
2) add other items to loot;
3) add variety to the types of cutlasses, guns, daggers, etc.;
4) give players the opportunity to change their appearance in game;
5) allow customization for ships; and
6) add additional names for ships plus possessive forms for the first part of the ship name.

Trevinator 11-09-2007 04:26 AM

Dk

I am going to post your suggestions on thier website k.

EERaider 11-09-2007 04:34 AM

Enemies

I can guarantee more enemies. I'm a decent sailor, and a few shots and such, say they can be used agains: blah, blah, blah, and monsters. I bet ther'll be sea monsters that will be cool. Like seeing the kraken, that would put this game over the top. Off the charts. Amazing!!!!! Can't wait. I'll be waiting, after i finish the Black Pearl Quest this weekend about 70 percent done.
SO i'd say im close.

Chickee 11-09-2007 12:43 PM

I would like the doors to open when I walk up to them. I'm really tired of pressing the shift key.:turkey:

Vangelis 11-09-2007 12:46 PM

Agreed about the doors, especially the one where you are in jail and try to kick the door open, but it stops after one kick so you're stuck.... lolz

Arcc 11-11-2007 02:04 PM

A way to change your base clothing a look, when I made my guy, I did some things wrong that I want to change. Like the to change your skin and body you can go to the tatoo parlor and maybe add tatoos, and that tailor is how you get new clothes. (Why is the tailor in tortuga EVEN there? It doesn't do anything.)

Those are one of the best features dude. I get so annoyed in Toontown because it has that. You walk into a wall by accident, then you're in a building. Annoying.

I wish they would add more weapons. A actual rifle would be nice instead of a little flintock.

Sir Upticious 11-11-2007 05:36 PM

One thing I have noticeed is the dead silence of the game. Every message just appears on a small area. As annoying as the constant animal noises gets on Toontown, at least you know when someone is talking.

Perhaps a series of Yarr, Yo Ho Ho's when characters spoke would add to the atmosphere.

Yeah right! Maybe I will turn the music back on!

:skull:

clothing???????:degen: do you see cap'n jack changing clothes in the movies?

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry i have pirate problems...

Trevinator 11-11-2007 10:14 PM

My thoughts on the features.

I am just going to give it some time, if they have not added any new features in the next month of this month It will not please me, ill probly just quit if that happens. Hopefully htey add the Sea monsters, new enemies, weapons and the ship custamization in the next two months or else that means that it will be a boring six month then update game and that would just suck! Also the walking into a door thing I hate that 2 it would make it to much like toontown!

Lindyshutterbug 11-17-2007 02:37 AM

Wow, where do I start? There are a lot of improvements to the game I'd like to suggest. Some perhaps might be doable, others . . . well this is Disney afterall . . . I'd like to see , but may not go with the theme of keeping this game accesable to the casual gamers and families.

The best feature so far for POTC is the ability to crew ships. In addition to helmsman/ship's pilot and gunners I'd like to suggest a few more things for the crew to do:

Lookout - Situated in the crow's nest, this person has the ability to determine with increasing accuracy the possibility of ships carrying high value or special cargo. Targeting assistance - Focusing in on a target (via levels of spyglasses) this person is able to assist the gunners with a targeting reticule that shrinks with experience and with every shot from the gunners. Ship-to-ship signaling. Ability to raise guild colors (flags).

Engineer - Person has the ability to do minor repairs (up to perhaps 75%, the rest would have to be done at the shipyard). Also has the ability to put out fires before they spread, assist in tacking manoevers, and assist in increasing sailing speed.

I'd also like to see the following elements introduced (most likely best done in an entirely new area(s)):

Shipbuilding, player driven economy, ability of guilds to establish pirate ports/bases . . . .

Talion 11-19-2007 12:27 AM

I would like to see many changes from profesions being added, classes, weapons, more/better chat options more content. a better map, cords? customisable keys. an echomony/trade.

some profesons could be, sword smith, gunsmith, ship builder, talior,

some classes could be, medic, witchdoctor, captin/deckhand/sailor, swords men, riflemen

some sort of ingame mail or bulltin bord, at least for guilds

some chat comands like /wisper - /w /reply -/r /guild - /g /crew - /c

the ablity to see who in your guild is online, where they are, what level they are, and even put this on the friends list

the ability to make a small note by the people on your friends list and or guild list

customisable ships

chang clothing, get tatoos, get earings/ percings / change hair style/ shave, grow beard

a guild house, base or ship would be awsome, with things like a guild bank/ profesions area/ships ext.

a guild sash or patch or tatoo or something

a way to remove your or other names from your screan

minor loot in the lootable things, like diging a hole, creats, barrles. not just noting found, maybe have money or something else in them once in a while

customisable hot keys

ablity to respeck your talents

show what the next level of a talent dose for you

more quests

a better map, show the layout of the island, be able to make notes on it, have cordnents on it

ablity to be navy or pirate? might be cool, but i also understand that this is PIRATES online

over all this is a fun game, but a small game, i dont see it keep my intrest or the intrest of manyothers if some improvments aren't made and made fast.

this is a very limited game, everyone is basicly the same, aka no classes, no diffrent weapons, no realy diffrent ships, no proffesions

I lookforward to this being a very cool game, but it will take a lot of changes to get there, it was awsome when i first started but is allready starting to lose its appeal. the only realy cool thing is the sea warfare . I would love for this game to be as versatile as other games such as wow, eve, guild wars, ever quest

BadgerDog 11-19-2007 01:03 AM

I want to be able to gain something from PvP matches. Right now, they're pretty pointless other than 60 seconds of bragging rights.

I also want to be able to fight the Kraken or some other sea monster that takes an entire crew to take down.

And I want to be able to decide whether or not to sink a flagship, like keep it as your own ship.

Davy 11-21-2007 02:21 AM

There should be a server where we have our houses, or at least a Pirate Island where Pirate's houses are. A house should cost about 20K and should be able to hold 200 Cannon Ammo, 100 Dagger Ammo, 200 Grenade Ammo, 5 Furniture Pieces, and 10 pirates. We should also be able to pay about 5K to get another ship bottle.

Clicking on a Guild Member should bring up the same menu as when you click on a friend, except for guildmasters there should be a button 'Member Options'

We should be able to have our own shops (again, house island or server). We sell our stuff, say our ships, houses, furniture, clothing at cheaper prices.

We should be able to have parrots, dogs, etc.

Crew needs to be able to repair the ship (15 gold for every 1000 health points)

We need to be able to see what is in the cargo (Spices, Rubies, Silver Bars, etc.) that we get and regulate what we keep and dump. Cargo holds need to be bigger, and crew should be able to go down into the bilge.

The biggest (PotCO did say it's coming out soon): Customizable Ships!

DrStinglock 11-21-2007 03:49 AM

Whoa, you guys want to pretty much re-write the game then?

Repairing ships while in the ocean? Thats laughable, maybe a 10% fix up could be done, anymore than that and I'd like to know how it would be possible. Like, your ship floats out of the water, you start hovering around it and patch it up with your magical wood and nails that floated past.

Shops, Economy? This game doesn't need it, and it's better off without it, I'd rather focus on fighting/ sailing / looting and doing quests than looking for somewhere to unload my cargo when I get on shore. Or spending time trying to find people to trade with or re-stock with.

Cargo? Bigger Cargo? See what's in the cargo? Nah, ill pass on both of these, More cargo is not needed, and to see whats in it?

I'd be happy with a simple 'drop cargo' button, none of this sorting and hmm, what do I keep, what do I get rid of. You either empty it all, or you keep it all, none of this going below down deck and sorting through it all.

Keeping Flagships? Like how many ships do you want?

Most of the cosmetic changes, well, they will and probably can get left for a more detailed game, the focus for this game seems to be as player friendly as possible.

That could be very much improved with some enhancements to the guild feature.
Everything listed about guilds would be much needed and used to enhance their use.

Primarily,
  1. Some kind of MOTD for crew members to read when logging on.
  2. An ability to either Friend, Goto, Whisper or Crew Guild Members
  3. When hovering a Character a 'Last Online Time' field would be good for removing inactive players.

Crewing Positions would be quite good also.

Jman2112 11-21-2007 06:32 PM

1. Get someone your level in a PvP match. I'm level 17, 18 now, and I feel bad going into a game against a lv3.

2. In game events, if we don't have some already planned. Like something happens one day, and a ton of ppl gather.

3. I know they said no, but choose an alliance. Not the navy, but different pirate groups, like maybe a member of Soa Fengs crew, Barbossa, or Jacks.

4. They said they'd have player generated content right? Player run cities. If they can make it work. Also, if you feel destructive, as a pirate should, you can steal from the cities, raid it, burn, whatever you want.

5. Call it crazy but i would like to interact with npc's more. Like talking with them in conversations. You can get on thier good side, and they'll let you into secret areas, give you stuff. (some guy told me you could do that in SWG talk to them at least, was he lying)

6. Sry, 3rd time editing, but where is Pirate Dice as a game? I would make big money playing that.

Things I agree with
-Guild notices, and houses
-More appearance customization

It would be at least nice to be able to put out flames or pump out water and this could at least slightly increase health and help you limp to port after running from one of the many war slops hovering about!

Nickpf 11-26-2007 08:34 PM

i think having a flintlock would be more convient then a hand cannon and i think with the pistol that you could hold down a key and move the aim instead of auto aim oh and one more thing- ship tonics!

Captain Squid 12-01-2007 01:09 AM

Force pirates off ship

I would love the ability to toss a pirate or two to walk the plank!

Many times, a friend or 2 of an actual crew member will TP to my ship and start firing at anything when the ship level is very low. Next thing you know it, we are sunk.

Either that, let the Captain have the ability to DISABLE cannons.

JoG 12-01-2007 12:34 PM

I would like to see Disney block the use of unattended macro's mainly used to kill enemies and gain unearned XP. Users found to be using these macro's should have their characters wiped. (Some of the 'leaders' on Disney's leader board do just that)

PirateSavvy 12-08-2007 05:54 AM

I like some of the ideas I see here.

Lindyshutterbug 12-11-2007 08:14 AM

Aye, plenty of good ideas here. I'd also would love ta be able to make a pirate or two to walk the plank. I've had countless times were some crewmembers would pick a fight with a ghost ship while I'm runnin' for port with a hold full of royal chests and a ship that's low in the water. Worst I can do is to take them to a far flung island then kick em off the crew and friend list. Closest thing ta marooning them.

I'm hoping that they add some of the best ideas here to expanded areas. Perhaps keep the present ocean for the basic people to run around while the rest of us get to play around in expanded regions such as parts of the Pacific, Indian, etc . . . with areas that guild can claim for their own and defend against other pirate factions, the navy and east indian trading co.

Garborg 12-11-2007 08:51 AM

Here is a suggestion,

The cannon shoot-5 skill is nice but is only useful if you have a robot pressing your fire button.
Please make a 1-push fire button for all 3 rounds.

My finger is killing me.

Davos 12-13-2007 05:32 PM

I am probably one of the older players. I started playing at the request of my grandson, and I have found the game to be quite fun despite many, many shortcomings (as compared to real MMORPGs).

I played EQ for 6 years, SWG for 1, and now Vanguard for almost a year, so I am used to many features that are lacking in PoTC.

The Good:
- Nice water graphics, especially the reflections, water color, and waves.
- I really like the sea battles, and the feel of maneuvering the ship.
- I like the skill point system for each weapon and sailing skills.
- The 'light-in-the-sky' for quest directions.
- Poker and Blackjack - well done !
- The game is a nice 'entry level' MMORPG. A good way to introduce those who are new to the genre.

The Bad:
- No first-person view. I hate playing in 3rd person view - too much like old Diablo I & II.
- It's hard to tell which NPC's have quests to offer. I have approached some NPCs several times, and they have nothing for me, then after I level-up they have a quest for me. But I would never know it unless I talk to every NPC every time I level up.
- Once I complete a quest, I often have no idea where to find the NPC who gave it to me.
- NPC targeting. When fighting multiple mobs, my target seems to switch from one to another. And the targeting for the voodoo doll is really awkward. Once you click on a target, it should remain your target until dead or until you switch to another.
- Too many invisible walls/barriers that prevent me from moving.

The Ugly:
- The chat system really, really sucks. I understand the need to protect younger players from vulgarity, but you can't even use numbers or other player's names in chat. Also, there isn't any way to repeat a message without re-typing it, or to scroll through missed messages. Really, really bad chat system.
- No global chat, so it's hard to ask for help.
- Very little in-game instructions. For example, I did the dagger quest with Elizabeth Swan. When I finished I went to buy daggers but couldn't because my dagger wasn't level 5. For several levels I had no idea I now had a dagger as my F4 weapon, and I needed to use it in hand-to-hand combat to level it up. That's just one of the many frustrations I have faced - and I'm an experienced player. How can they expect kids like my grandson to figure it out ???
- Did I mention that the chat system sucks ???

Bottom line though, I am enjoying playing with my grandson. He lives 70 miles away and I see him about once a month, so this gives us a chance to do something together more often. When he is isn't playing, I like to solo the sea battles, or play poker - but eventually I head back to Vanguard.

Squidfish 12-15-2007 03:04 AM

I like the game but i dont love it yet, it has a lot of potential.

I would like to see, for a start to have some way using view guild members and to get the same menu as u do for fiends/crew u have to sarifice friends in order to have most of ur guild members also as friends, we dont just play in our own guilds and as a friendly game community we all help each other , even if we dont play enough with them to have in our very limited friends list.

2 suggestions,

1. Make no of friends a lot larger or
2. allow players to access the same menu in show guild as they can by selecting a friend or left clicking on the player.

either should be very easy add to the game.

please post your thoughts , as the more posts, the more chance this may be fixed.

OutlawZ 12-15-2007 04:42 AM

When I started playing this game and was sent to the Tattoo parlor,
I was so stoked to think I was gonna get a tattoo!
In the end...just disappointment.

Not sure how it would work, but what is a Pirate without a tattoo?!
Maybe just a selection of stock designs that you can buy from.

This idea of having more things to spend your gold on is a good one.
Even if they are silly things that have no purpose...younger kids like buying and collecting things!

The Clothing and Hat shops are a definate need also.

Barber or Hair stylist is a secondary choice.

I'd like to see decoration for your ships too.
Maybe a flag? Like a "design your own flag" interface.
Why not show the player's flag, above the boat, just like the flagships?

And what about Sails?
Designs or colors for the sails? Maybe a Sail Shop where you can upgrade to better sails, colored sails, etc?

Some more voices would be a nice change.
Talked with jack Sparrow in the beginning of the game and then nothing all the way through the quest. Not even Barbossa spoke to me!
I was expecting a cinematic piece at the end of each quest for a crew member.

Squidfish 12-16-2007 01:36 PM

Is there any point in this thread?

This thread is a good idea IF any of the developers are reading out comments.

Is anyone reading these posts who can change anything about the game?

If not ,there is no point in this thread.:xhuh:

" It's hard to tell which NPC's have quests to offer. I have approached some NPCs several times, and they have nothing for me, then after I level-up they have a quest for me. But I would never know it unless I talk to every NPC every time I level up."

An NPC is offering a quest is you see a flag over their head. All but one I'm aware of are in Port Royal (very essential quests if you're looking to add more coin). The bartender in the shanty town in Tortuga offers mercenary quests.

Damionte 12-24-2007 01:28 AM

I'm surprised no one has mentioend this before on the whish list". Maybe it doesn't bother the res of you but it drives me uts.

I want a way to restrict who is on your ship. Or to toss people off the ship when you need too.

currently anyone who is on your friend list, or anyone who is on the friend list of anyone else who manages to get on your ship can just board the ship whenerver they like.

This leaves you open to ding bats who can't hold their fire. Agroing everything on the waves and messing up your "fishing" trips.

Let me kick people off the ship and it will greatly cut down in my cursing!

ummm yeah did you not read the hint that clearly states befreind other wisely? if they dont follow order just remove them from your freinds list. it's supposed to be just that, a freind, not any one who manages to click on you lol.

Damionte 12-24-2007 04:45 AM

Yeah but like I said, and like you may have seen by now, they don't have to be on my friends list to get on the ship.

I may have someone who is cool to play with on my ship. Any fool they've befriended can get on my ship now. I have no control over that. I can't even tell who they followed to get on board so that I can kick them both off.

I can't kick them off anyway!

So in other words, a boot button for your ship will be great.

I think the guild system needs work. Not everyone should be able to create a guild. No one wants to join any guilds because they have there own.

Goldfish 01-04-2008 12:00 AM

I think fighting the Cadet and getting..whatever is in the box or crate, shouldn't be so broken. I fought like, 5 cadets, opened the desk, got nothing, searched the entire room, got nothing, and then got pwned by the cadet..

I also hope that they transition to a turn-based battle system, because the current one is a bit odd, as you may be too tall, too short, too hefty, the enemy may be too low, the enemy may be moving too much, somebody else might pwn the enemy as you're trying to get a good shot, and so on..

Added to that, I wish the chat system actually worked. I just kept silent when I played because of how bad the chat works.

A lot of things.

clancykid060 01-15-2008 10:49 PM

they need a better guild name system like a list or something

most of the good names are already taken:12_1_138:

and a crows nest on ships

They have the model on most of the ships I've seen. They just need to make them usable. It'd be nice to have some sort of spy glass as well, so you could get info on enemies. Infact, why not just add selectable targeting, so I can get a readout on my interface rather than straining my eyes to see the enemies level.

Also, I want to see WAY more ship types. I can't even stress that enough. It doesn't matter what kind, but theres only 9 right now... cmon now...

Another thing, I know they have something along this planned, but in depth upgrades. I'de like to be able to chose a wood type because it's strong for armor, or because it's light for speed, or an inbetween. They could really go into it with an upgrade system.

Also, why is it that theres so few areas on the map / in the game. The areas are either so high the average player can't solo out in it, or it's so low that it's just a huge cluster of friendlies camping a few NPC's.

One thing I really feel the game is missing is a speed gauge, and possibly a current/wind direction too. I want to know how I can go faster, and in what direction I should sail to maximize my speed.

One really cool feature I think, for when you still want to be alone, or if it's late at night and fewer people are on, would be to add NPC cannoneers that you can hire for a cut of your loot. They don't need to be very accurate (Even less than 10%), but it'd give us a feeling of having a lot of cannons being useful, even without a boat load of players.

I also want to see more factions in the game. It's either red/white, black/grey, or rags (Navy, EITC, dead). I know they want to be true to the story line, but there needs to be content for the game as well ~~

And I praise everyone who has pointed out the suck that is the chat system. ~~

A few have pointed out custom flags, or paint jobs. I'm 100% with that, we want to be unique. And if the game is censored down for kids, why not... let them... be creative....

Someone else mentioned a global chat or LFG. That's a major need right now =/

So is being able to "Walk the plank" someone who gets on your ship and AFK's while you work, or who attacks stuff intentionally way higher than you so you have to run / die.

Finally, I really want to see a better naming system for both ships and players. I don't like seeing several people named "Pirate". Block the single names, and explode the current list of names so people can really get fancy.

Jim Callecrash 01-25-2008 04:31 PM

Davy Jones Locker

There should be a Davy Jones locker in the game instead of going to jail so friends can save ya and would make the game more fun for everyone. As well as the locker there should also be a kraken and a flying dutchman in the game too.

Aegeta 01-25-2008 04:40 PM

Ideas

I have some suggestions for the game. Oh and my character in the game is Tara Roth. These suggestions broken down are: Chat System/Whispers, "Go To" Command, Crew System, Guild System, and Player to Player (Pirate to Pirate) Interaction. These are all serious things that need to be fixed if the game is to be successful. Priates of the Caribbean Online is a pretty good game and it has the potential to become a great game.

Chat System/Whispers:
One thing that is a must is a better chat system. The current system is sub-par to say the least. Local chat is fine and dandy, but the whisper system is horrible to say the least. If someone is not on your friends list you can't send a whisper to them it shows up as going to "none" even if they are in your guild. I don't think that problem is present for crewmates, but I could be wrong.

"Go To" Command:
The "Go To" Command doesn't work like it probably should work. You can use it on your crew and friends even across servers, but a guildmate can't use it to come to someone not on their friends list or outside of their crew. I hope this can be fixed.

Crew System:
The whole working of the crew system is also pretty bad. I would like to see a system where the leader (Captain) could picked from the crew and the 1st person to invite would be the default captain of course and who would be the 1st mate (if that would matter or anything). The crew chat system is okay I guess, but it could use a few improvements, but overall it is okay. Another thing is recruiting crew is hard. I understand why you can't send a crew invite to someone on another server, but why can't you send an invite to a guildmate on the same server, but not on your friends list without having them standing next to you? For that matter, why can't I send a crew invite to someone in Port Royal when I am on Tortuga or out at sea? A better idea would be to address the problems listed above about the crew system and make a quene (list or whatever you want to call it) in the server for people looking to join a crew or something like that. And one bug I've seen is that people coming to you from another server sometimes can't join a crew even if they are not in a crew currently.

Guild System:
Right now the Guild System is weak. Guilds need to have some kind of ranking system not just member or officer. The interface could use a fixing up too. It's way to bland right now and to constricted. Some more activities for guilds to do together would be nice too.

Player to Player (Pirate to Pirate) Interaction:
There needs to be more free will in interacting with other players. If there is a way to trade with other players I have been unable to find it as have the other people I've talked with about it. I would like to be able to give my old Light Frigate or Galleon to some guildmates that need a better ship than they currently have and right now I can't do that. I would also like to be able to give my friends gold to help them out.

That's all I'll put into this message even though I have many more ideas these are the most critical to game play.

sarkazmo 01-27-2008 09:25 PM

a couple ideas

There should be some kind of guild colors...
A flag or an entire sail on a ship would be awesome.

the poker game in del fuego... they npc's fold everytime they dont have to pay a blind and everytime you raise... or they will raise to your raise withen they have "ace high"... their programing needs work. i mean seriously.. they fold EVERYTIME... except the one time that i get a full house... he just HAPPENS to have 4 of a kind... fix that, its stupid. or the npc has a pair of aces in the pocket and never raises?

there should be guild wars.. if i am at war, i want to be able to attack and sink and of the warring guild i see.

Ghostrogue 01-28-2008 01:47 AM

The most important thing the game absolutely NEEDS Right now is a way to submit suggestions in a way that DEVS actually COMMENT ON. WE NEED A GAME FORUM MONITORED BY THE DEVS!!! Why make a list if they never see it? It makes us, the customers, feel uninvolved. :skull:

sarkazmo 01-31-2008 05:30 PM

some how when i board a navy ship, it will show it sinking and yet it will act like its my ship sinking and i go to jail with a sunk ship...fix it..

DarthChaosSky 02-01-2008 12:10 AM

Hmm, I would suggest that the speech be available until you close its window. It shouldn't close after you press enter, but until you press the "x" at the top. Also, maybe adding a trading system for the valuables. Oh, and PvP should award gold and notoriety. That would be AWESOME!

o0BigBadBrad0o 02-06-2008 10:23 PM

I'm not sure if this has been suggested or not, I haven't read through the whole tread but I think it would be handy to either have a pop-up that someone requests permission to board your ship or to be able to kick someone off your ship without having to return to port. I've had times when I've been out sailing and all of a sudden I've got a half dozen people running around on My ship telling Me to attack this ship or that ship. I don't mind helping other people out but I'd at least like to decide who I'm letting on My ship.

Jack Seawalker 02-07-2008 05:01 AM

alot more skill points so all of your skills can be maxed out. make the ones after mastering the different things hard to get, like a long quest for 1 in each weapon or something like that. enough said.

gossipboyxoxo 02-09-2008 10:09 AM

I know this kind of goes against the social aspect of the game, but a little more self sufficiency.

I think crewing the ship with friends is awesome and all, but I feel there should be a way to use different cannon ammo types when uncrewed as well. Or even just to hire a crew when sailing solo. Something to kind of level the fact that a lot of the npc enemies can shoot off different shot types while I am stuck with roundshot. ;)

Also on the ship system, definately a custom flag option. To keep it kid friendly just have a stock of different "parts" of the flag (similar to how the naming system is done) and voila... individuality on the high seas... who knew!

More weapons. I feel the game is pretty balanced as it is now but for example, it would be cool if you could purchase a cutlass that did poison damage... or fire damage 10% of the time. Nothing too drastic but some variability would keep the game flow interesting.

I think it would also be cool if you could fire cannons from the forts in say kingshead at boats in the harbor. Along with this, I'd like to see ships on the horizon, or in the harbor when on looking out on the sea. I know this probably will create crazy lag but it'd be cool ;P But definately with the forts, I think it would be fun to attack from the sea (as you do in Sid M Pirates)

DarthChaosSky 02-09-2008 06:26 PM

To the previous post, you CAN see ships from the harbor, but you can't shoot at them. Also, I'd like to see a "Walk the Plank" option when you're on your ship, so you can make whoever you don't want on your ship to literally walk the plank and get off.

Thrawn33 02-09-2008 11:32 PM

The ability to jettson some of your cargo.

I hate having to blast the pesky Ferrets when the get to close and have one of thier crates take up space in my hold while i'm trying to fill up on chests and royal chests.

Be nice to be able to make room like that.

Peggo 02-10-2008 01:22 AM

Walk The Plank has got to be added. I have contacted POC and asked for the feature. How about the rest of you requesting it too?
Beta Test server now has emotes and appearance changing options. They're fun to play with, but they don't have the big list available, only some emotes.
The maxing out thing... well??? Why? What do we do after we have maxed out everything (not that I'm even close), but don't they want us to stay in the game?
Getting the Black Pearl Boss battle up and further quests would help too.

I still have not found frinds from Beta server on pay server. I wish there was a way to message people from the official site to set up potential in game meeting to get back on the lists. I lost a whole guild in the transition!

Chris 02-10-2008 01:31 AM

my ideas:

1. Davy Jones Locker - a new member only "secret" area where players can go

2. Singapore - A new island (as stated by POTCO in the summer expansion) where higher lvl enemies are (40 - 50)

3. Shipwreck Cove - another Member only island

4. Member only Servers - we pay for the game we should get our own servers (no basic accounts)

5. Go To Guild - plain and simple this must be added

6. PvP Sea - bring it back!

7. Guild Events/Competition - i think guild need more events to participate in hostedf by POTCO

8. Walk The Plank - a way to get unwanted pirates of ye ship

9. Custimizable Ships - Member only feature members can add cannons, cargo space, and crew space and expand their ship and place cannons where they want them.

10. Guild Houses - Guildmaster buys a room for guild members only the room can expand as long as the guildmaster pays for it, largest clubhouse is an island, all guild members can access the clubhouse whenever they want.

Yay, you messaged them for Walk the Plank yay! I get half the pay right? It was partly my idea. ;)

Kingshead was supposed to be "Members Only" look how well THAT turned out:vtongue:

Those are pretty Good Ideas but it doesn't have to be Members only though.

Heres my Ideas:

1. Davy Jones locker(of course. It OWNS!!!) I think you should get there the same
way you do in the Third Pirate Movie. The same for getting out. I think you should
travle to the edge of the world to get there because once you get there nothing happens.
Or once you die from now on by ship you go to davy jones locker instead
of jail and when you get killed on land you go to jail.

2. PVP ship battle. They need to bring it back. I think it should be like crew against
crew. And you have a ghost ship vs their ghost ship(along with the cool look). And you can board it and battle from there.

3. The Kraken(I mean... They Should have added this since Phase 1)

4. Underwater exlporation. I think you should use Voodoo magic to breathe under
water so you could explore whats under the sea. You could find treasure chest and other valuable Items.
And you could fight enemies like sharks and octopus's.

5. Ship customization(that pretty much describes itself)

6. More weapons

7. Hideouts. Make your own house or Hideout so to speak and buy furnitures to
make it look better.

8. Walk the plank(This has to be in I mean...Every pirate always wanted to do this)

9. New Islands.

10. The Most Awesomest Thing I have on my mind all day. I think there should be
a once in a lifetime event where an all out pirate war breaks out in the live game.
Us pirates vs the Navy soldiers, Black Guard, Jolly Roger Ghost, and Davy Jones's
Crew. The pirate war will be everywhere and also on sea. I want the war to look
like the Gameplay showed on the Commercial. And I think there should be a quest
where you can go against Jolly Roger, Lord Beckett, And Davy Jones themselves!!!
AND THATS NOT ALL!!! For a once in a lifetime offer.
All pirates Created on the Test server can go to the live game for that once in a lifetime event. It should last
for 1 and 1/2 months. I think that would be so awesome.

Well Thats What I think. Too bad #10 might not happen though.

taylorbee 02-12-2008 10:11 PM

I LOVE the hideout/guild house idea.

I also wish the healing system was different. This is really picky of me, but it doesn't make sense for you to go up to random NPCs and ask them to "heal" you when you've been hurt. What are they supposedly doing, waving their magic wand and making you all better? Instead, I would like it if you had to go to a tavern, and you could either buy something to eat, which would bring your health up quite a bit, or you could rent a room for the night and sleep, which would restore all your health. They might not get a ton of use because your health restores by itself anyway, but it would be good if you didn't want to wait. I guess I just want sleeping and eating somehow incorporated into the game.

I hate the chat system, as others have said. CURSE IT. I wish we had, at the bottom of the screen, a chat window that stayed up all the time so that I didn't have to keep clicking to open it and so that it would be easier to read. There also has to be some way to make it easier to multitask; I want to be able to call for help while battling an enemy without having to pause to type. I don't know how that would work, though, I just want them to make it happen.

I also want us to have to deal with sharks somehow. I don't know how, but sharks would be cool.

I would also like to see more smuggling incorporated into the game, such as more quests where you could take your ship from one island to the next and smuggle rum and illegal goods back and forth for gold.

Oh, and another thing I really want: the ability to go into the captain's quarters/below deck on ships. It just sounds like fun.

DarthChaosSky 02-13-2008 02:44 AM

Think about this: if all the guilds get guild houses, where would you put them? The PotCO staff probably don't want to make a server just for guild houses. It would also probably slow the game down. Also, the underwater idea, not so good. I don't think pirates ever went underwater; it wasn't their thing.

I love these ideas, the only thing i would add is different types of ships, get away from just sloops, galleons, and frigates. I wouldnt mind sailing a chinese junk, Schooner, or a brigantines. The only way a chinese junk would work is if they open up a way to get to Singapore. Can only hope and wait..

Dukk19 02-13-2008 10:52 PM

What Islands/Home system would you like to see in POTCO?

I want a cannibal island!:vgrin:

Davy 02-13-2008 11:04 PM

I, again, want Houses.

Carnage 02-13-2008 11:19 PM

I Want DAVY JONES LOCKER

Captain Jhawk 02-13-2008 11:25 PM

I wanna see Shipwreck Cove!

CaptainMonkeys 02-13-2008 11:27 PM

I definitely want to see a place where you can fight Jolly Roger as a boss battle or for fun, and I want to kill the Monkey!

Davy 02-13-2008 11:57 PM

Yes, I would also like some mini-games, like fight Jolly Roger (Lv 45 with dagger in one hand, pistol in the other that shoots lightning bolts), or fight Lord Beckett (Lv 40 cutlass user), or, after completing it, re-do the boss battle. The mini-games would give 1k rep if completed successfully for the attacker, and 500 for the others that tag along to help the attacker.

Captain Jhawk 02-14-2008 12:36 AM

Or you can duel Captain Jack Sparrow or Captain Barbossa. THAT would be cool!

Oooo! I like that. You'd have like a dueling stadium where it would set you up in a tournament which you can choose either against other players or NPC's and the reward would be around 2-4k in gold if you won!

Jack I 02-14-2008 12:58 AM

As for new islands, I wanna see something along the lines of Singapore, maybe the edge of Florida for an added effect.

As for a home system, it all depends on what you mean. If you mean houses, I would like to see a system in which you might raid a house or buy it.

If you mean what I was thinking of, which was a home island system. I think you're home island system should be wherever you port most often, and only have that as a port of call. That would also be the only place you could have a house. ^^

Davy 02-14-2008 01:14 AM

I agree with Jack, except for the islands. I'd like to see expansions to Tortuga - the Faithful Bride needs to have an upstairs, a pig pen, etc. In the movie that tavern was really big.

For a home system, there needs to be a Pirate Island with 3 shipwrights, 5 gun shops, 3 sword shops, 4 tailors, 2 barbers, 2 jewelers, and 2 tattoo shops. Homes would cost 10k and hold up to 50 clothes, 10 jewelry, 20 tonics, 250 dagger ammo, 500 cannon ammo, 500 pistol ammo, etc. There would be an option of 2 Lv 15 guards (both using dagger) or one Lv 20 guard (dagger also).

5000 homes would be available - mansions hold 3 times as much, have their own set of shops, and have guards to protect your home from being raided. Those cost 30k and have 5 Lv 15 guards (two use cutlass, three use dagger) and 5 Lv 20 guards (three use cutlass, two use dagger).

The Pirate Island could also be part of Tortuga - a short walk away through a swamp, to protect from enemies.

I would also love to see an enemies only island, where all you do is fight enemies. There would be 3 different islands - one for Lv 15-20 enemies, one for Lv 20-25 enemies, and one for lv 25-40 enemies. The enemies would be spread out so no more than one attacks you while you're trying to fight. Surrounding these islands would be powerful ships like Storm Reapers, Man-O-Wars, Barracudas, etc.

Brain 02-14-2008 02:32 AM

Maybe a seperate guild hall for each guild? I would like the thought of the guild hall being shipwreck cove different rooms with passcodes.

I did kill the monkey :) It was a bug a few weeks back LOL - I want current Islands and bugs fixed first before they add new ones... :)

lizziepirateprincess 02-14-2008 03:22 AM

i think a guild hall would be awesome! It should cost a large amount of money i think, but that's all the fun of helping your guildmaster earn it =]

shadowypirate 02-14-2008 03:22 AM

I've got a new take on a home system.

How about a captains room in your ship. You can only enter it before you set out to sea, and you can customize it to your liking, say desks, chairs( being about to sit would be great too), and all kinds of piratey decorations.

Jack Gunhawk 02-14-2008 03:23 AM

I think canibbal island, Isla De Cruses (sp? ill edit later) and the locker. Also, for houses, you should be able to go into the captains cabins in sloops, or blow deck on frigates and galleons.

I also think Shipwreck cove would be neet.

Cloudburst 02-14-2008 03:27 AM

Ah, yes. That would be a blast and experience to go to each time. Maybe if we could go there they would add PvP battles against other ships?

oo, and the pvp ship battles could be in the maelstrom of pirates 3!

Cloudburst 02-14-2008 03:32 AM

Yes, and maybe update to where you can bet gold before you enter, so whoever wins gets the gold at the end although people would trick you.

Animals

Ok, so besides the birds chirping where are the other living things?

Living things that we can't shoot or stab, that is.

I mean, a random turtle as opposed to a huge evil scorpion once and a while would be cool once and awhile.

A pod of dolphins running along the ship maybe? Could we see a few birds in the sky?

Some monkeys in the tree or a dog or two.

I know we are pirates but we can still be friends of nature.

We already have chickens and pigs, doubt they add anything else..its not really anything important but then again neither are jewlery, coats, tattoos etc...

piratelover990 02-14-2008 07:23 PM

mm well...the chat system..

i no people usually dont run around when they are trying to type something...but i mean its like you HAVE to stand still while you wanna type something...

like for instance say your fighting a really high level enemy with your friend...what if you need to be healed, so you stop fighting for a sec and to try to tell them but BAM the enemy kills you bc your standing still....

I think that the cooler environment you are in, the better.

I also think it would be cool if we could have storms at sea once and awhile.

79 degrees and clear is kind of boring.

Bring on the rain!!

I like the idea but what if you were sailing to an island on your ship when sea monsters popped up and you and your crew had to fight your way out!

i want to see cannible island, shipwreck cove, davy jones locker, singapore, and houses

Wendy Sparrow 02-15-2008 09:22 PM

sorry if this is said before, but I would like to board a Skeleton ship! The undead would be on there. Why are there no Skeleton flag ships?

There is also a lot of nice stuff in the trailer, wich is not 'for real' :(

Wendy Sparrow 02-15-2008 09:26 PM

A "Kraken' in the water somewhere. He will attack your ship when you came too close, but you can shoot him and kill him like the other enemies, that would be fun.

Swordsman761 02-16-2008 05:09 AM

There ABSOLUTELY needs to be a way to add friends without having to find them in-game. There should be a way to add them when they're offline, and also even if they're online, it's hard to find others when there are so many servers and islands in game, so a system like that would be very helpful.

Oh, and everyone's talking about a trading system, they used to have one in EARLY EARLY beta 1 (there are 2 different builds of beta 1, both have different layouts), but all you could trade was gold pieces. They NEED to bring that back and turn the collectibles into some sort of trading card thing.

Swordsman761 02-16-2008 05:42 AM

I'm thinking the housing system should be more pirate themed, so I'm thinking a pirate's hideout type of system.

The house should instead be like a cave or hidden shack or something, and it'll have about the same properties as Toontown's houses have.

You can invite pirates on your friend list to come, and check out your cool loot (furniture similar to Toontown you can buy/decorate). Oh, and there should be some limited edition items too like Toontown. They got the limited edition hat that is in the tailor shop instead of Toontown's catalog, but for the housing system, they can have an intercepted EITC order goods list or something cool and piratey like that.

Next, for your own personal use/storage, you can store coins similar to storing jellybeans, and a treasure chest for your cannon/pistol ammo needs. A similar piratey like neighborhood like Toontown has adds a nice touch, but isn't necessary in my opinion.

That's all for now.

I think you should be able to CHOOSE the island where your home is based on. I would currently have to go with Padres.

I dont knwo if these have been mentioned but:

1. Type a Ship Name: Just like guilds and your name. With limitations, like no Calling it black pearl or Flying Dutchman.

2. Turn off/on Cursed pirate look: pretty self explanitory.

how bout an instance like on wow: you could ahve a high lvl cutlass tank ranged ppol and a voodoo healer with bosses and they could troptreasure and it would be easy to make gold its just like the WoW insatnces that would be very fun

Just kidding, lol. That would be awesome! Maybe shooting the navy would be fun too. It's almost the same as shooting crabs and animals, they're alive aren't they? And you can throw grenades at navy men; probably would hurt more than just shooting them.

DarthChaosSky 02-27-2008 02:05 AM

Maybe a PvP only server, where it is allowed to attack other pirates anywhere any time. It would be great to pass the time, especially for high level pirates. You could also get items from them too. You could sink each others ship while on the High Seas.
