The Reference Game
The Reference Game has been on some other forums before. So, I decided to post it here.
RULES: Someone will say a reference, then the person below them must figure out what it is from. For Example: Joe Blow: My Reference: Snake, is something wrong? Snake? Snake!? SNNNAAAAKKKEEE! Ol' Whathisname: Metal Gear Solid 2. My reference: You've turned off your targeting computer, is something wrong? And it keeps going! The reference can be from any game, movie, show, or song. Be as specific as possible. If you feel your reference is vague, or hard, you are encouraged to use a hint. Do NOT use the same one twice and do not use Google unless you have absolutely NO idea. Also, do not make it hard to Google on purpose, make it easy to Google. And please? Make it really FROM something and come up with some answer unless Google isn't yielding anything REMOTELY related. I'll start it. My reference: Why is the rum gone?! (I'm going to be banned for making it too easy...) |
You would, but this is the wrong game. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Now, I'll go easy this first time. Reference: There's a snake in my boot! |

Wrong. Little Shop of Horrors.
Dan: Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones Me: Deny thy father and refuse thy name. Or, if thou shalt not, be but sworn my love, and I'll no longer be a Capulet. |
Well! I ban that show for referencing another reference! Cuz' it says that... And right-o!
Crest: Romeo and Juliet. Mine: Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own image as promised by the sacred words, and spoke of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was naught but a follower. HINT: Easter egg for a computer application you've probably used. |
Ahh, Romeo and Juliet.

No, Dimitri said that.
Cortana. Here's an epic one: I've seen horrors... horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that... but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror... Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies! I remember when I was with Special Forces... seems a thousand centuries ago. We went into a camp to inoculate some children. We left the camp after we had inoculated the children for polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn't see. We went back there, and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember... I... I... I cried, I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out; I didn't know what I wanted to do! And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it... I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought, my God... the genius of that! The genius! The will to do that! Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we, because they could stand that these were not monsters, these were men... trained cadres. These men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with love... but they had the strength... the strength... to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men, our troubles here would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral... and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling... without passion... without judgment... without judgment! Because it's judgment that defeats us. |
dunno, dun care.
"Many's the long night I've dreamed of cheese-toasted, mostly." |

"Were it so easy." |

Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, the Skull IWHBYD.
"It's a difficult question and not one you can answer until you're faced with it. Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe." |
I don't know. Google fail.
"War has changed. It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. War - and its consumption of life - has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. War has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control... All in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction. And he who controls the battlefield... controls history. War has changed. When the battlefield is under total control... War becomes routine." |

Guys, you can Google for a reason. Don't say "I don't know" unless Google has failed you. Or else, nothing will get done. And Charles, I doubt that's a real reference. :\
Actually try this one? :P R: "If I was going to kill you, I'd have done it when you walked to your car this morning and been gone by the time your body hit the sidewalk. But, right now, all you can think about is your family. And this is making you desperate. Desperate men do stupid things." HINT: The bald guy is back. EDIT: My short attention span has caused me to add another. Oh snap. REF: "This is my rifle. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will." HINT: Classic Vietnam movie. |
Former: Hitman!
Latter: Google = Fail. "What we should do Commander is understand - clearly - that this is humanity's final stand - here - at Earth. We go, we risk everything; every last man, woman, and child. If we stand our ground, we might just have a chance." |
