Should AFK Be Limited?
Now most of us like to get to the top servers, like Abassa, but it is always full. When you do get there, all you see is a bunch of pirates in AFK on Tortuga. Some just stay there for hours on end, filling up the slots, and slowing down Computers.
Do you think there is a need to limit how long a person goes AFK? Say, about one hour? After that, the system will bring you to the ' Pick a pirate ' Screen. And you'll have to log back in again. |
No ...some people go afk to give people crew rep.. also, some of those on abassa are still there and talking in a crew/guild or local, even though afk is over their head.
|
An hour is a reasonable time for afk. The lag would be so much less.
|
An hour is too little. They should give you two or so.
|
Davy beat me to it. But I like the idea.
|
I do faux AFK so no one will mess with me while I guild chat. Or, I'm afk because I'm lurking in the forums.

If players are talking to someone, the least they can do is move so they won't risk getting log off. |

While the idea itself is quite reasonable, I feel an hour would be too short, especially for those of us who have to go AFK for prolonged amounts of time to do something.
I think 2 hours would be a fair amount of time, because you might as well have just shut off the game if your gone that long. |
I think this sounds like a great idea and 2 hours sounds pretty fair. We had someone in our guild that was AFK for a week. I was beginning to worry about the guy, as I can't imagine a reason to be gone that long and not sign out.
|
i frankly dont i think ts fine its not going to make a huge lag difference if you dont want lag dont go to abassa
|
Wow Charlotte. A week? The most I've probably been AFK was perhaps... 8-10 hours when I accidentally left the game on.
|
Considering how long it takes to reload POTCo, I am going to say no. Also, Abassa is not the only busy server on POTCo ya know.
|
sorry...but this is the weirdest idea i've ever heard.... doesn't make any sense.
|
I HIGHLY doubt that one AFK person on Abassa will make that much of a difference...

Eh, Toontown has the afk-too-long-and-you-log-out thing. With this, I've never seen crowds of Toons sleeping on Nutty River, likely because they know of the log-out-after-how-many-minutes?
On a minor level, I'd say this is needed. |
Maybe after 8 hours.....sure. anything less is just stupid.
|
Or maybe, you could have the option like the sleep on a TV, and set the number of hours before you auto log out. 1-24 hours say.

Ya But Have U EVER wanted on Abassa Just TO Watch All The Crazy BBls? Maybe Start a Crew, Hard Invasion, yet it stays full then when u tp there there is like forty AFK lvl 4 pirates name Swashbuckler or Buccaneer or what ever? Ya So I Do The Kill GLitch & send 'em in Jail. Better there than just bugging bbl. PM & ill tell u about the glitch but i wont tell u the major part, u gota figure that all on ur own. lol but still after so many minutes U should be able to make the afk " NOOBS " crash, really half of abbassa are AFK noobs, a quater r ppl just they to get guilds started & another quarter r LVL 50's or 45's just chatting cuz they got nothing better to do.
THE AFK IS REDICULUS! IF THEY R AFK FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES ON ABASSA THEY SHOULD CRASH!!!! |
This would go to all servers, not just the top.
|
Eh...
I've been false reported for going AFK one time (Long Story) Anyway, 1-2 hours is a perfect amount of time for AFK... Only downside is that we may have more people looking for glitches to keep there players on... I understand, you are in the middle of something and need to go afk for a while... Understood, but, people take negative advantages to that... |
I know some of you may not agree with this practice, but I like to leave my pirate on AFK while I am at work or sleeping. I put her on her fishing boat, in the warehouse on Kings, or somewhere on Tormenta so that the guild may use her as a TP totem while I am away from the keyboard.
It is a service I provide to my guild mates and I would hate for it to be taken away. Another reason I like to have her online is to review guild chat to see if someone left the guild or if someone was guilded. I am the official roll keeper for our guild so it is so convenient to have these things announced in guild chat - a benefit I would lose if they were to boot me after x number of hours of AFK. Just my 2 cents. Kat |
