An idea that will give POTCO a point..
I've noticed a HUGE hole in POTCO. there's no real reason to play it. you might say "the whole point of the game is to level up our pirate and get loot." well, whats that point of that? once your maxed, and have all the legendary weapons, what are you going to do with it?
Well, i got an idea. i was thinking that POTCO could add houses. you would have to buy them from an architect or what ever. if you cant buy a house, you could get a room in a tavern. when you log out, 50 gold you be taken from your account to pay for the room. same with a house, but it would be much more expensive, depending on how big your house is. when you log back in, you would wake up in your house/room. if your homeless, then you would wake up on the streets with some gold/weapons/clothes missing. if you buy a house, you could put it on any major island. POTCO would have to add a space fr your house. you could put your house open to guild/friends/crew, if you want to have a party there. you could, of course, customize. The POTCO staff tell you that "the navy, EITC, and jolly roger is evil and we must fight against them." well is was thinking that there would be a feature that the navy/EITC could seize your house, and burn it down. or jolly roger would send his people upon you, depending on what Major island you live on. also, the more enemy's have been killed on that server for that day will decrease your chances of your house being attacked. for example, say when the day starts, 0 enemy's where killed on that server. so the chance of your house being attacked are 10/10. in the next hour, 100 are killed. so the chance's of being attacked is now 9/10 savvy? any tweaks you think we should add, or something you don't get, please post. |
Um.... there's over 1 million pirates in this game. I don't think the servers would be:
1) Stable 2) Not have enough room. This would really cause unstable servers with the amount of people playing the game. And losing items for no reason? That would just infuriate people. |
random people would not be able to see your house. only your friends/guild/crew, depending on who you let in.
|
Having all those houses on a single server would be a disaster though. It would cause EXTREME server side lag and become extremely unstable.
|
Yeah, I wouldn't like to come back to the game and see that items and gold are missing. Just my opinion haha
To fix the housing idea, there could be a pre-set number of houses, say 150 on random islands on a particular server. You would go to the housing broker (He wanders from island to island. But, you get a quest at level 15-20 to get a map to find this guy. Once the map is in your inventory, you can choose to track him with the ray of light. Once you find him, he tells you of the many houses in the Caribbean, complete with a list of purchased and unpurchased houses. You can choose to travel to each house before purchase, just to make sure you like it. Sizes with vary depending on your level and how much you're willing to pay for it. Also, charging you every day for your house would be a little much. Maybe once a week you'd have to pay up a mortgage. For instance... You purchase a large house (sizes can come in small, medium, large, and mansion just for example.) and it costs 800,000 gold. Now,you can choose to spend however much as a down payment, with the lowest being, say, 5,000 gold. Now, throughout your pirating career you have to pay at least 500 gold a week until you pay off your house. Once your house is paid off, you're home free! Don't forget about furniture though, there will be a plethera of furniture. This could require a trading system. You can loot some furniture from ships and some cool trophies and stuff from buried treasure, all to put in your house. There would also be a salesman/woman out there that sells different paints for the walls and floor, for the customized look. You can buy furniture as well, from these salesman. So, finishing your house would be a huge accomplishment in your pirate life. Something to work up to, something that won't be done easily. Maybe even a gold cap raise would come out of this, who knows. Hope you like my ideas, they're pretty logical and would create for a more social and fun atmosphere. Like, "Hey, check out the table I just looted off of a Juggernaut." or "I'm having a house party, all are welcome!" Of course there would be settings on who can enter, just like a ship, haha. Fair winds mates! |
your house would move from server to server, just like you. and random people wont see it. no can enter your house when your not in it.
P.S sorry about not explaining the losing gold/stuff. you would live on the street, so basically people would steal from you, hence the lost gold/stuff. |
Um I have been playing for about 3 years I'm a lvl 50 with 14 famed and no legendary, I don't think I will be finding all the legendary soon. Also I have a level 19 who i play alot and that probably keeps me in the game the most. What I'm saying is if you get bored, make a new pirate.
|
i dont think people will like their weapons missing (legendary and famed for example)
|
drop the stuff lost and they made houses for toontown why can't they do that with potco
|
I need no house on land. My ship is my home. Give my ship an interior that I can customize, and I'm good.
|
Honestly, if housing comes to this game, I don't know what I'd do. I love not having housing - it just gets boring after a while.
|
The key problems I see with the game are, there are customizable ships or houses. One thing toontown had from the beginning was houses and I'm not understanding why POTCO couldn't do the same with ships or pirate coves.
Anyways, storyline is also a key issue. I really think that POTCO should just hire more developers. It seems like the economy is hitting them or someone's trying to cut the project because nothing major has happened in a while. New clothing and raven's cove is cool but where are the major elements of the game? Second story quest and the kraken? October 2007, so it's been three years since we've had a new story quest. That's how long they said it took to launch the game, and they still don't have a new story quest? Either they decided to head in a new direction or they're having some serious problems in the developing studious. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but eventually the waiting just becomes a little too much. |
well the reason of losing stuff when you log in so that theirs a reason t get a house/room. if you are worried about losing something, you could get a room in a tavern for 50 gold.
|
And what about those low levels that have to save up for days to get their light frigate? They don't have any money they can afford to lose, and what if they lost a powerful weapon that they had? Losing stuff isn't ideal or fair for the game.
|
yeah i just dont like the losing stuff part poor little low levels becoming poor :(
|
You said that there is no real reason to play this game, but the truth is, there is no real reason to play ANY mmorpg out there, except for entertainment, they are made for fun.In every game out there, you are eventually going to come to a certain point where you have beaten the game and have gotten all of the weapons.
Now to be fair, i agree that disney lacks in coming out with features that motivate player to keep on playing the game. And that i see that most people who master their pirate ususally give up on the game within 6 months of when they master, because they have nothing else to do. And people would get frustrated and quit if they were to loose one of their most powerful weapons. And who knows, the idea of housing has been waited for for almost 2 years, so maybe next year it will come out |

it could be like toontown... teleport to your home on the map... but it isnt on the streets |
Guys, you start out with 50 gold, enough o get a room in a tavern. plus, once they get there first free ship, they could earn about 200 gold, or just go on a public war galleon.
or, if they know people like me, i would take them on a tip with my war galleon and get all royals. |
Not many new players would know that they could do that. Until they are level 10 or so, they for the most part will just be questing. And IF they know you. Hardly any would.
|
well, at any rate, i would just ask them if they need gold, and if they say yes, i'll take them for a run on me war galleon. or, they could just board a public ship
|
You could do that for every low level who needs gold? I doubt that. There are more of them than there are of you, and you can't have all of them on your ship at one time. Making you lose gold without a house wouldn't work out at all.

Not every low level who needs gold, i'm just saying if they need gold they can board a public ship or ask a high level.
|
I dont think the game is boring our will get boring and what you are saying can pretty much relate to almost every game out there.
Its not a bad idea if there could be a way to not crash servers and what not. I think that after you buy a house you dont have to pay rent or pay anything everytime you log out, because it is a house thats why you get one, so you dont have to pay rent. Maybe there could be like boarding rooms or a pirate bread and breakfast lol. For the poor pirates, they could have shelters but with just like a bed in a room, we dont need any people begging for gold. That will get old fast. P.S. Also when you get a house you could rent a room to somebody. oh and as far as the sleeping on the streets and getting your stuff stolen, bad idea, really bad idea. |

How would housing give a point to POTCO. To me, the point of the game is to capture back the Black Pearl, then mastering your pirate. You are introduced to the Black Pearl from the tutorial. And, what could we do in a house anyways? Cook? Clean it? It would get quite boting, as people have said. And, if others can't see your house, and you are one of the only people who goes in it, or can see it, then that still makes it not very useful.

The house Idea I think is good but my low level has about 200 gold and losing any of that whenever I log out would be terrible. Also, if I came on one day and found that my Silver Freeze was "stolen" I would punch a hole in my computer :p ( O.k. probably not ) but I still would be furious. Good idea but some things need changing EDIT: Also if one person loses say a rare cutlass one day and I lose my legendary or famed that day that would not be fair at all. |
They did it in Toontown, so there is absolutely no reason to not have it in this. I agree with the paying rent as gold isn't really worth anything anymore after you master your pirate. I disagree with the items being stolen and the Navy/EITC burning down your house, although an idea would be for the Navy having a chance of seizing your house and all that it would mean is a higher rent. But for new pirates, all pirates would start out with a shack and it would be a total of 500 gold to pay off and 2 gold rent every so often. Then the pirate would upgrade it to large shack, house, and then eventually a Mansion. Also all pirates would get a Captains Quarters on each of their ships and it would just come with the ship.
|
pirates didnt have houses they lived in ships as far as i know

Customizing a captains quarters, cave, or small shack would be fun. It wouldn't give a point to the game, but like any other thing besides quests, it would be entertaining, and fun. Putting decorative treasure chests where you want them to, with a globe and a silly old bed with springs coming out of it.
It'd be fun, and I think this should have been in the game in the beginning, but right now, I want the Kraken. Give me that, and then I'll take anything extra. |
Houses? I thought we were pirates!
|
Aren't we pirates on the run? Be scary to have houses.
|
I personally don't want houses... thats not piratey, aye? I could do with a captain's quarters though. How about this? When you buy a ship, you have the option to purchase extras with it. One of these extras would be quarters inside the ship. It would cost a fair amount of money, so you would need more money than before. You also would have the option of just buying a plain ship and then adding these extras to it later. See what I mean?
|
Good idea Davy, but you would have to pay to keep your ship in the dock.
P.S I'm posting from a hotel in las vegas! |
Um why would you have to pay? We keep are ships out at sea by dropping are anchor and then we reach them by rowing out a dinghy.
|
Pirates don't have a house lol, they have ships. I don't get the point of houses and pirates
|
I think a lot of kids who play the game would really like the houses idea but I agree with what others have said. It would cause too much lag most likely and isn't really pirate like.
I always thought it would be neat if we could go into the cabins on our ships, though. |
Aye i agree with cabins in ships.
For the game to have private houses for pirates, it would require to expand the game further, meaning going beyond 700 mb. There are also to many bugs and glitches that need to be fixed and the house idea, although it is good, its to much for game to contain right now. |
