Guide to Leveling Up VooDoo doll!
 

This is my 200th post, so I thought I'd make use out of it. A new guide! This time, it's a guide to leveling up your VooDoo doll!

1. Once you get your VooDoo doll, you should be around level 5 or 6 notoriety. Start out on Cuba, right after you get your doll, and beat some of the gators there using only poke. Beat them over and over again until you have leveled up your doll and reached notoriety level 7. Learn the Swarm Skill.

2. Go to Port Royal and start beating the Cadets around town, again with only Poke. It should take about 10 Cadets to level your doll to level 3. Upgrade your Attune Doll skill so you now can attune 2 targets.

3. Head toward Fort Charles and begin beating the Guards, yet again using only Poke. There's one in the middle of the hill, and one guarding the steps. Do that until you're about halfway to level 4.

4. Make sure you have 3 of Tonic and Remedy. Then head into Fort Charles and attune a Sergeant of level 10 or below. Use both poke and swarm on these guys. Keep VooDooing them until you have only half your health left. Then bring out your best weapon and beat it. If you get into the yellow in your health, press T for a tonic. It will fill your health up to Max. Keep doing this until your doll is level 4.

5. Go do your quest for a little while until you're notoriety level is 8.

6. Okay, I know you'll think I'm crazy on this one, but stick with me. Go to Murky Hollow (behind Governor's Garden) and find a circular ledge near the back. There should be two vampire bats on it. Attune both, then run in circles and poke them over and over again. You should get over 100 rep points per bat you kill. Do this for however long you want. I leveled by doll from 4 to 6 doing this in about 10 minutes, only attuning one bat at a time! It should take you about 8 minutes to get 500 points using this tip.

7. Go out there and have fun with your level 6 doll and level 8 notoriety pirate!

Great guide! You put a lot of thought and effort into this :)

Remember if you run in circles around your enemy wide enough so they can't get you, you can defeat almost any enemy. Be wary of the skeletons with daggars, and flytraps lol, they'll always be able to hit you. Also watch your voodoo level, swarm uses a lot more voodoo than poke.

I have lots of luck leveling with high level crabs and veterans :)

By the time Swarm comes back around and loads, even with using Poke, your Voodoo level will still be acceptable. In the time that Poke charges, your Voodoo increases by 7 points.

What He means is that Do you need Unlimited Acsess For POTCO to achieve the Voodoo Doll. I think you might need to have unlimited Acsess

Yeah, you have to have unlimited access in order to practice vodoo.

Pathfinding causes the AI some problems...

I managed to have 2 High Level Navy Officers trying to attack me through a rock I went behind... Needless to say, they did not damage, and I spent a while taking them both down.

The rewards were sweet though...

So if you can, see if you can get behind a wall, rock or cave... hopefully the enemy gets stuck, you can voodoo it, and not take a touch of damage!

I have my doll set to attune to four; each time it is attuned to another enemy, it takes more to deal with that group.
The more hits it takes to deal with an apponent the better your rep points.

For what it is worth, I found the Giant Crabs to be awesome for leveling up Vodoo. I max'd out my attune ASAP. I started this strategy at level 16 (level 10 voodoo).

Attune 5 at once and run in circles and make crab meat. +100 per kill. Took voodoo to level 20 with this strategy. During that time period I max'd out swarm to make things go faster.

The respawn timing is perfect which gets you set for another round right away. Now at Level 22, the giant crabs are only giving me about +67, but the kill is so fast now that it is still worth it.

All and all, I like Voodoo a lot. Going to spend the newer skill points on healing on a go forward basis.

That is my 2 cents on the subject...

Guide is great Davy, but I have a question, I have done little or nothing with my doll, it hasn't been my weapon of choice ;) . . . . and am now almost at lvl 22 not. would this method still be affective at my current level? :piratear:

I go to cutthroat, attune two or three stumps drag them over to a tree and get them stuck, if they get unstuck i can still circle the tree and get them stuck again lol, killing two or three at a time gives me 200-300 rep a pop

How do you attune the doll to more than one target?

you can only attune one target per point in your attune skill under your voodoo doll, beyond that, you attune the second target the same way you attuned the first :)

One hint I do is not to start killing the first item until I attune two enemies. I love to attune two thugs in Port Royal or two Officers in Padres then start to run while killing them. It took me practice to attune two and not have them attack me until I get the second on board. I love doing that though. My doll is at level 20 pretty fast. I put in 3 skill points to attune 3. I like to heal two friends while still killing something myself.

You attune the doll to additional targets in the same fashion that you attune the first. Basically run up to the the enemy/mob and tag the enemy with it. The number you attune to is controlled by the number of skill points assigned to that skill.

You assign skill points to various weapon skills under the Chest icon. Option "K" (press your K key). Once you assign a skill point it cannot be undone so be careful what you click on once reviewing the various skills to assign points to.

Curse makes for a helpful trick, and, if you feel the need to attune multiple enemies, is worth a few extra points with a high Attune ability.

I think I want to keep the Attune ability down to just 3, as to free up the points for what I consider an optimal build... however, the fast leveling trick with the crabs may as well make me invest those minimal 3 now, sooner than later. Iunno...

I tried out lvling up my doll today on my lvl 13 character (lvl 11 on doll), went to Kinghead & had fun with the red-leveled vets. About 1.5 hr later, they were yellow-lvled when I got around lvl 15 on my doll I think. Spent another hour, and now they're green-lvled after my doll got to lvl 20 so I only get about 55rep points now. During all this, my notoriety lvl went from lvl 13-18, which only happened that fast coz I was able to get 100+rep on each vet when they were red and YELLOW lol.

What I did was saved all my skill pts and maxed out both attune & swarm and had 1 pt in poke & 1 pt in curse & 1 pt in scorch. Used curse 1x, then scorch 1x, swarm 1x, poke 2x while the other skills reload, swarm 1x, then curse 1x & scorch 1x, and poked xx until they died. Even when they yellow-lvled, I was still able to get 100 pts rep which I was kinda surprised. (Over 100pts if you switched to some other weapon when the vets were in the red zone of health).

All little later in my Voodoo career I use a method similar to grenade leveling to level up an 8+ doll.

Go to Kingshead, get behind the fence just to the uphill side of the haystacks. Toss a long volley grenade at the troops mustering at the center of the parade grounds. It's the same drill as the great grenade leveling guide that bilgepump wrote up, except when the troops rush over to fight, run up to the fence and attune a few. Then step back from the fence far enough so you're out of the reach of their weapons... hit the numbers keys and watch 'em keel over.

The troops here are at the right rept for a mid to high level doll.

You upgrade your attune ability, and then just attune multiple targets (one at a time)

i go to the stairs in front of padre's navy fort and get like 5 people to help

Nice guide. It kind of sucks that my doll is maxed though and im level 37 :D :D

Really nice guide. After reading it, i realized something. I have TOTALLY ruined my doll. To late now though, because i already mastered it. Oh well, hopefully the day will come where we can swap skill points. Until then, i am dusting of my staff.

Since i am basic acess and don't plan on buying unlimited for a long time i set up two guys. One will be even with the doll, the other max out allowed skills (if they have another weekend of unlimited acess).

Good Guide sir davy! Yea i kind of regret putting all those points in swam and poke and kinda wish now that i put them in cure and heal.... didnt think i was going to use it that much fro healing.

Love the guide, I use the vampire bat tip.

Thank you for this guide. Even though it is old, is it still good. And now you are able to fix your skills by reassigning your points.

go to the first circle on left and add skill points there up to 5 players u can attune or enemys

I like to attune all the wasps at Isla Perdida. They also drop some rare, strong, dolls and give about 135 xp.
