Pirate-like?
Hello everybody! I have come to talk about how POTCO players have looked at being pirate-appropriate seems odd. ( Wow. I present everything so buisnesslike, and use to many -'s xD) I'm not ranting, I just sort of wish people would recodnize to be a pirate. Now, even I avoid that. It just seems people call you a noob if you talk with speed chat (which I don't) it seems though, they are the ones actually talking apropriately. I don't really know how to say what I mean, I just feel that maybe people could see we are SUPPOSED to be pirates. I really don't know how to say what I'm saying, but I am not ranting on normal people. It makes sense not to be like that. But I just don't know. You can only find a handful of people that like to act piratey. As I said. I don't know how I am to say this, and I understand if nobody understands xD.

I think I get what you're trying to say here. You're basically say you wish everyone would treat this game as a game where we act like pirate because this is an online roleplaying game you're trying to say we should play the role of a pirate when you play Pirates! your wording isn't the best but I agree with what you're trying to say.

Yes and NO.
Yes, its a role playing pirates game and maybe a bit of piracy and manners should be thrown away. NO, because pirates did more than pillage and plunder. Murder and other things took place too. Also keep in mind that the game is a PG game. Disneyland's Pirates had problems a few years back because the pirates in it were chasing women around. They had to change that and placed platters of food and gold on the hands of those women. Imagine this game with more pirate-like actions? It would be chaotic, and definitely will be rated R or M for mature. The game is perfect as far as all that. Some level of respect and good manners are sometimes a good thing too, even in a pirate filled world. |
the impression I was getting is we need to act a little more piratey like in the way we speak... you know like: aye, nay, ahoy, mate, matey, so on and so forth I could go on with that all day you know what I mean?

Yeah. Maybe laying off the pirate lifestyle (A.K.A as Skirata said Chasing Women, Murder for no reason etc) but maybe a little more lingo. Like I said. I don't know how to put it xD.

Anyways, this is Disney we're talking about, they have to keep it toned down. How would you like to walk into Fort Charles while an execution's going on? :p |
That is true...

i actually was thinking that if you go to jail, you'd have to escape in a smart way. It'd be like a puzzle. If you don't escape from it in 5 minutes, the navy comes and brings you to the nearest gallows. Then, they hang you if someone doesn't come help. If you dont, well you end up in DJ's locker, where you'd take you ship and sail back. Maybe they'd do something to to live the hanging down, like you wont see it or you body hanging. Or what you could do is change it in the options.
|
Yeah. I was always thinking of that. Like searching the cracks and finding areas that can get you out. And maybe have some with guards.
|
I thought this game had enough pirate language in it coming from Abassa people and elsewhere. Oh well...
Yes, this game does need some more "pirate talk" and less of the "pirate language" I refer to above. But I doubt that will ever happen. If it did, though, that'd be pretty dang awesome |
Yes.. Yes it would.

I understand completely. The whole point of a role-playing game is to play a role! Games like this are made to get away from everyday life, and the people who only go on this game to text chat to others really shouldn't be on here. When I tried being properly piratey on one of my characters, speaking like a pirate and all that, all I got was people telling me I was being stupid and should get a life.
When I joined Pirates, things were different. Everything's changed now, and I can't say I like it. |
keep talking like a pirate. if they tell you to stop tell them u are disinclined to acquiesce to their request.
|
By playing this game you take a role in playing a pirate and as such you go right ahead with
the pirate lingo mate and fare saling. |
I do wish we could use the word ho as in "Yo Ho." I mean, they censor the word which means we can't even quote the song D:
|
Yeah... thinking of deleting Breeze O'Luck to make a crazy dude.
|
I already made an outfit for my main pirate... the goal is to make him look like somebody who you would lock the car doors if you saw him begging on the highway.
|
I see...? Good idea though! Sounds like ill have to try it also!
|
When i was a basic member, and being told I had to pay to use certain items, I did use to think "PAY? I'm a pirate dang it! I should just shoot you and take what I want!" XD
|
^^^ Wow. Never looked at it that way. Really nice perspective!
|
thanks ^^ :dancetl6:

Disney will keep it as clean as possible. The game has more elements from the movie than from the ride. I would like to see that change a bit in the future. As TSC stated, if this were truly based on real pirates the game rating would be at least M (17+).

Let's put at it this way.
http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...13-18-58-1.jpg This is Delmaria Darkskull in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean Online. He's a very romanticized version of a pirate - he goes out of his way to fight for the good of the people, he opposes tyranny with a passion, and supports individual and governmental independence. He is very honorable, and he believes in freedom and being the good guy in a world filled with back-lot deals and illegitimate business. http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...m/potbsdel.png This is Delmaria Darkskull in a more realistic perspective. He works for whoever gives him business - he doesn't care who he stays loyal to or what he does so long as he is rewarded properly. He not only lives in a world of murder, crime, and so forth, but he is also a very large participant in it. He is often the catalyst in many bloody and gruesome battles, and pillages and plunders many innocent merchant ships in the most ruthless way possible, to instill fear in others. Which one do you think is more "pirate-like?" Roleplaying and speaking like pirates (aside from "sailor language") is one of the many things I encourage in this game, because it really adds to the atmosphere. However, making the game more pirate-like itself would then just take everything to a level that Disney rarely does (if ever) venture in to, and would surely end up to somebody being upset simply by how graphically natured "real pirates" were. |
That is one fancy looking pirate.
