Hacked! Really Important!!

Ok, I am not a PSN user but for those who are, IGN and Playstation have reported that PSN has been hacked really bad. They are announcing steps to take because most likely, almost for sure, that the hacking group has ALL vital player information such as Credit Cards. Go check that and hopefully you or those that you may know won't get affected more than what you already have.

SEAKING23 04-27-2011 02:44 AM

I've heard that they guy who hacked it is only one person, and he gave away his age...

Captain Sharktooth 04-27-2011 05:04 AM

I heard about this hacking too. Pretty sad, that someone would wanna do that, I hope it won't affect many people.

Hookshot 04-27-2011 06:17 AM

Watched a video of a guy making fun of the kid who actually managed to bring down the network. That's someone who is going to be fined all of his rum.

bartholomew bladeroberts 04-27-2011 12:24 PM

Wait so a kid brought down the network.

Tom Sharkwash 04-27-2011 12:53 PM

People say that a kid brought down the network, but Sony hasn't officially said who did it.
But now I am glad I didn't enter my credit card when I started my PSN account.

muffin pirate 04-27-2011 04:18 PM

A 19 Year Old kid brought down the Playstation Network.... Hahahahahahahahahahahahhhahahaha! Sony fails big time.

Thank goodness I don't have a credit card yet...

Dog Gunmorgan 04-27-2011 04:37 PM

thank goodness I only have 360... guess it is worth paying for online play since PSN obviously fails epically on security...

Mr. Skiperdoo 04-27-2011 04:42 PM

Who knows? Maybe PSN hacked it in the first place.

It's the secret fund for the PS4!!!! It's a conspiracy!

Mr. Awesome 04-27-2011 06:43 PM

This is the reason I only play PC games, you don't need a "network" to use multiplayer.

Jakers 04-28-2011 12:27 AM

Let's get it straight that the hacker(s) have access to personal data and info, there hasn't been anything that has said if they have actually TAKEN the information. If it's being hacked for the credit card info, then whoever is doing it is a complete idiot, cause he isn't going to get away with it. The hacker may just be doing it to prove that it can be done.

titanic95594 04-28-2011 01:05 AM

Who knows it could be a hoax and yes I can agree with Jakers that it could be just a test to make the game stronger. If its the other way around, better contact your bank to lock that card number!!

The Skirata Clan 04-28-2011 05:09 AM

It's not a hoax. A lawsuit was presented today for the damages that this has created.

Christopher 04-28-2011 05:56 AM

My friends were talking about this at school. They blamed me for hacking it just because I bought a game from PSN on my psp weeks before this.

muffin pirate 04-28-2011 04:03 PM

If I got my facts in order, the people who hacked PSN are a group calling themselves Anoymous, who were angry at Sony for their "Security Update". They even SAID a few days before, if Sony didn't meet their demands, they WERE going to bring down PSN. I highly doubt they are stealing personal info, because this attack was aimed at Sony. Not the consumers...

Are they also trying to make Sony drop the case featuring the MW2 Lobby Hacker?

bartholomew bladeroberts 04-28-2011 08:19 PM

Actually from what I know anonimous said they didn't do it and when they do something they usually take credit. And they haven't stolen any personal info before. What we probably have is a group of pro Internet thieves trying to buy a swimming pool with your money.

titanic95594 04-29-2011 12:49 AM

Have they even know whos doing this or are they still on the loose?

Tom Sharkwash 04-29-2011 01:38 AM

Well good news, the credit cards numbers were encrypted so the hacker(s) can't get to them, unless they break the code.

The Skirata Clan 04-29-2011 02:47 AM

Which they probably will given that they did hacked in PSN.

titanic95594 04-29-2011 02:51 AM

Well thats good news. But I just read this article. "PSN breach could cost Sony 24 million." This must have been a huge crack.

Tom Sharkwash 04-29-2011 03:14 AM

I think 24 billion is way to big of a number! I read the article and I don't see how all of that could add up to 24 billion.

bartholomew bladeroberts 04-29-2011 03:15 AM

Actually I heard the data was un encrypted I also heard that there is a reward for info leading to the person. The FBI is also involved.

Tom Sharkwash 04-29-2011 03:30 AM

Sony said that it was encrypted, but who knows how strong it was. Man I am SO glad I didn't
give them my credit card!

The Skirata Clan 04-29-2011 03:32 AM

It also took them a few days to admit they were hacked, so the info is dubious.

bartholomew bladeroberts 04-29-2011 03:36 AM

That's because they didn't know the problem they only informed people when they found that info was comprimised

So you think a billion dollar company wouldn't encrypt something so important?

The Skirata Clan 04-29-2011 03:45 AM

I think they should or are supposed to. What I mean is that at this point they will say anything to protect themselves. It's damage control on two fronts. They will try to make sure that the Consumers are at ease while preparing for the lawsuit that is coming, and they are trying to bring their network defenses up.

Basil Dreadflint 04-29-2011 05:12 PM

Quick update:

This has made national news.
Sony has not announced any info about WHO, or if they have been identified or caught.
Whoever did it had free access to every single bit of personal data that had ever been entered, including, but not limited to, names, addresses, email, payment info, etc.

bartholomew bladeroberts 04-29-2011 07:14 PM

They still dont know who did it

blaster54 04-30-2011 12:08 AM

Yea playstation thing everybody has been saying this through out the whole 8th grade.

titanic95594 04-30-2011 12:55 AM

Well I wonder if they have a ID and they could trace it.

Tom Sharkwash 04-30-2011 02:50 AM

Sony probably already tried looking at their ID.

FreeRealms ( a SOE or Sony Online entertainment game ) was affected by it. It is a PC game and they got all player information from THAT to. Dont count your rum bottles until you've drank 'em. I might take it.

Nack 04-30-2011 06:15 PM

Lol. So glad I chose Xbox.

You mean the IP ( Internet Protocol Address ) right?

titanic95594 05-01-2011 02:06 AM

^ Yes, sorry if I used the wrong wording.

Juliana Maria 05-01-2011 02:17 AM

If they are smart enough to hack the network, something tells me they are smart enough to either conceal their IP, or mislead it...

Tom Sharkwash 05-15-2011 05:06 PM

Well PSN is back up for most people!

Nate Swordwalker 05-15-2011 05:39 PM

I'm glad I don't have anything but the Wii and my iPhone.
