Anyone else on here a jumper in PvP besides me? Basically using a CUTLASS and DAGGER only? -Bill Foulfoote-

Who else loves to pvp besides be?

akamystic 08-16-2011 05:28 PM

Jumping.....I will tread lightly here......IMO....I feel it's circumventing the the whole idea of PVP. I haven't tried jumping nor will I ever. When I PVP I use the weapons I feel will work best and adjust as needed. Win some and lose some.

Jumping clearly gives you an advantage over your opponent from what I've seen and experienced.

I won't use the word "cheating " as it is part of the game (currently) . I know many pirates have complained here and to Disney support regarding jumping.

However the other side of the coin is.....if you are having fun jumping, you have every right to do so.

kat truewalker 08-16-2011 08:56 PM

I agree. Jumping may not be everyone's favoured tactic to use or to find an opponent using...however...it's a tactic and it can be fun. I think its fine to do as you like, because if we're fighting as pirates then surely there are no rules anyway?

Purists might argue that voodoo, jumping, grenades etc are 'cheating' but I think that you should use what you enjoy most.

I've tried jumping and even had some lessons from a confirmed 'jumper' lol, but it's not for me..

If it works for you then go for it!

Chalupa 08-17-2011 12:49 AM

lol I personally don't use jumping as a technique but it is fairly common, but I don't PvP much.

It is common because new players see existing players do it all the time, in or outside of PvP maps.

PvP is broken at the moment because the "Fast Switch" exploit still exists in the game.

Bubba Bunny x 08-19-2011 01:24 AM

I wouldnt say I enjoy jumping, but its a habit of me of how I play. Its part of how I use the controls and if you just ask someone to change thats really hard to do.

Davy_Mcwrecker 08-19-2011 02:45 AM

Fast Switch? Could you please enlighten me?

My guess is the "exploiters" have figured out a work-around for said "Fast Switch".

I am not sure if it involves the same combination of keys (Esc + Any F1-F4 Key), however, it's more of a timing situation now to get it to work.

I saw a couple of PvP fighters I faced hit some kind of combination at a specific time during the skill they were using and it allowed them to continue with another attack after they had canceled the skill's animation.

It's supposed to block you from using any other skill until the animation time frame has completed, but somehow they found a way to get the game to ignore that expectation the developers had placed for all weapons.

That's all I know about it. A person who uses it like crazy would know a lot more.

SilentxXDeadly 08-24-2011 09:57 AM

Not really that way.

kat truewalker 08-28-2011 12:13 PM

Hmm back again. Just been doing pvp with a jumper who used swiftfoot glitch. I am not amused.

Captain Hector 11-08-2011 05:36 AM

I jump, yet had no idea there were "rules". I was PvPing a guild mate, and I was using Broad. He said: "Stop! thats broad!" I didn't care. I had never heard, and did not take up the rules. I agree with jumping, but rules? you can't just modify Disney's game. I didn't take up the rules (but i DID respect them), and will never take 'em up. Hey, I have rights, don't I?

That's true.

There are no Weapon rules in PvP.

The only rules that do exist in PvP modes are the TOS, Disney House and Member Agreement rules while using the Pirates Online game service.

So, anything goes, however if you do an action that violates the service's rules, then you are cheating/breaking the terms listed.

lerzba 11-08-2011 09:10 PM

Rofl, no there are no rules. But for jumpers (pvpers) there are rules called Jumper Rules :

-Cutlass & Dagger only
*No brawl
*No asp
*No throw dirt
*No dagger combos

Why no broadsword & only cutlass? Because with broadswords you can randomly swing without even looking at your opponent and hit them, cutlass is based on aim and skill. We (jumpers) like to make it fair, funner & based on skill. Who would want to fight someone that uses a doll with grave shackles and run in circles or someone that keeps spam shooting with a gun? That's so boring. If you don't like these rules, it's very simple. Don't pvp jumpers.

Yeah, swift footers in PvP and Muertos Moons REALLY bum me out. It is just so cheap.

SF glitch.. I'll be honest here. I use Swift Foot glitch every time I come on. But I don't do it to have an advantage in PvP, I don't use it to get from quest to quest in 5 seconds. I just use it because it is fun. I use swift foot, and I am against using it for your advantage in the game, but I just do it because it's fun. Haven't you ever wondered what the view is like 300 feet above Port Royal? :laughks2:

I will agree that it is fun to use if you have nothing better to do, and especially at the discovery of the glitch, but if I see someone use it in an advantageous way, I get really mad.

Same here. Sometimes though, on Abassa, I'll find a ton of people doing it and they are going into PvP all with swift foot glitch on. I think it is fun to have 9 or 10 people in a dark room running around really fast. :laughks2:

lerzba 11-09-2011 02:19 AM

I don't think anyone should do the SF glitch regardless what you use it for.

A long time ago, there was another speed glitch which you did with Cheat Engine, anyone that did it got automatically terminated permanently. Thats how my old account got banned, I think it's unfair. imo

I saw that video on youtube, and saw the comments about people getting banned. Lol.

I think that you should still be able to do the SF glitch for fun, not for your advantage in the game.

lerzba 11-09-2011 06:15 AM

I have contacted live chat & Disney at LEAST 20 times about restoring my old account, it is not possible. It was only banned once too, automatic termination (regardless if you used to level with it or just have fun)

James 11-09-2011 06:22 AM

I used to pvp all the time. Yes, I am a jumper, yes I pvp glitched in old tortuga, no I don't swift foot glitch in pvp, that is cheating, no jumping is not cheating, yes, the broadsword is a cheap weapon that takes no skill, yes, anything but cutlass or dagger has not place in a competitive pvp match if the players agree to it.

Well said.

I used to. I stopped though because of the hierarchy. Not going to delve too deep like akamystic... but I only respect a few avid jumpers, namely those that can take on any type of PvPer and still retain humility in gameplay. Extra for those that always win.

One thing that does peeve me though (and I'm sure avid jumpers will agree with) is how Disney rid of the initial fast switching at the infamy update. I think taking that away has really slowed the flow of metagame.

Yeah. I know a bunch of jumpers that even quit because fast switch was removed, but there is a new fast switch now (not as good as the old one thugh)

I can take on any PvPer and I would say "good game" even if I lose or win. Unless he cheated, or was being unfair. What I hate is when someone beats you and doesn't retain humility (like bragging that he won) & then I'd start making excuses if he didn't stop bragging about it and I'd ask for a rematch (I pvp really good when I'm mad :P). Jumpers PvP & my friends are the only 2 things that keep me in this game. I hate leveling, looting and questing.

If you ask me, I hate it when they only say "good game" when they win and talk trash when they lose against me.

I can't say "Good game" either, knowing that they had to cheat in order to defeat me in a match.

I tell them:

You only won because of your macro "Fast switch". You always gotta depend on automation to play Pirates Online or any PvP-related activity. Really lame. Play for real once.

I remember a lot of people doing this, it was a bit cheap because they could hyper-level.

Then after a few minutes it would die down to do packet detection from the game servers... until you crashed.

lerzba 11-10-2011 10:53 AM

Still regardless how fun SF glitch could be OR whatever reason you use it for, you should stop using it. They need to FIX it. When you randomly search for a PvP match (mayhem/team) your opponent will probably be using the SF glitch to gain free infamy with super speed advantage. My last 2 PvP matches ended up with SF glitchers.

~They need to fix fast switch also, but they should fix SF before anything else

I'm at Abassa right now and I see about 10 people doing it (most of them are noobs too, no offense) speed chats, lower levels and the newer generation of players.

Some of them exploit it just to get quests done quicker and/or skip entire walking areas.

That's a bannable offense if they use it in that manner.

lerzba 11-10-2011 06:38 PM

Yeah, I think. I haven't seen one person get banned yet using it though.

That's because I believe it isn't stated that game glitches are a violate unless it is interfering with the majority or atmosphere of a given area, such as Tortuga in Abassa. And the mods probably don't see anything in the TOS to deal an action against an account.

PvP glitch is a violating offense because it disrupts and creates more rendering lag for everyone from an action that isn't supposed to happen during regular play.

So, if it isn't stated that using glitches in a non-exploit manner means suspension or ban in the Disney Member Agreement, then it is okay to use because it's a bug that the developers made by mistake.

DON'T EXPLOIT a bug. PvP Glitch is not allowed enitrely.

lerzba 11-10-2011 07:52 PM

Yeah. I guess thats why everyone got banned for the old cheat engine speed hack, they should really work on fixing things before making new things. That'll never happen though.
