New update! New theories!
There has been a lot of talking and wonderings about the next update (most people think it's Aztec update) and I decided to post some of my old thoughts here from and old blog.

But what about all the other stuff? What updates to you think are yet to come before the next story chapter? Feel free to leave a comment in the box! :D |
Great suggestions. I can predict, MY Several Predictions are in chronological order.
Several New islands Movable Cannons Another Story Quest Lv raised to 75. Singapore Island Davy Jones Locker Island New Story Quest New Ship enemies SOTL Story Quest of Ship Customization. Jolly's Island New Invasion Enemies Ship Parts Costumization Be a navy, eitc, Undead, or pirate New Story quests for Navy EITC or/and Undead people. Most of these are what might come in the next several years. |
I think that instead of raising the level cap, they should make more perks to actually being level 50.
|
I agree with the cap raise, but not to 75. I think 60 or at highest 65 would work better. The levels are already hard for some players to reach as it is. Imagine going from needing 65k rep to over 100k a level to get to 75. Would take a long, long time. Also, I have heard quite a few rumors of a new island. If they are indeed true, then im sure they will raise the max cap and have higher enemies to fight, but I wouldn't predict that many updates for this year.
|
All depends what they outlined from the beginning. Some stuff were not delivered because of those technical issues. Have to keep in mind that POTCO wants to cast their net to a large variety of comps and bandwidths. Most people still can't afford to have gamer type comps. Most are ignorant of such basic tech knowledge. So the ideal game world can't be reached just yet.
Till then, these ideas must meet this criteria. A new island would work for instance. New items and enemies would work as would quests. But stuff like sea monsters? Not yet. I would think though those creatures would fit with a chapter two quest. But here's the thing: Do you want another layer of the stuff we're doing now? Or, do you want a new dynamic way of playing the game as we know it? I would like a new dynamic way of playing the game. |
I kinda like the game as it is but I would like more things to do for max levels, and much more quests you can repeat! That would be awesome! :D
|
I think we need more higher level quests you can do somewhere between levels 35 and 50 that offer lots of rep. Getting to the higher levels can be tedious without quest rep to help.

We need new staves, maybe a new type of 'nades.
We can finaly wield powder kegs!!! |
I'm pretty satisfied with where the game is now, but if I could choose some updates to come,
- New Islands - Tougher land enemies and bosses - New Story Quest |
Right now, I'm fairly happy with where the game is now, with ship customization and everything.
Although, while I did love the quest itself, Raven's Cove seemed pretty short. I easily completed it in a day with a mastered pirate, which was nothing compared to the first story quest. So maybe a new island or two, with a story quest to go with it, hopefully longer this time, and, much like the Raven's Cove quest, it could unlock a bunch of new types of staffs, which would satisfy a few of the most requested things for Disney to put in the game. |
I would LOVE a new Island, but also what would be really cool is more guild updates, like maybe a guild inventory, or a guild hall, etc.

You share clothes, weapons and potions with you guildmates? :D That would be awesome!

Back to the original topic, I'm pretty excited about this island, although I hope it would look a little different from our current wild islands with a beach, and 1 or 2 trees. I'm hoping for a real jungle or forests that actually has lots of trees. Maybe we will get it with new staves update too :D |
I personally think the basic access weapon level cap should be moved to 10 at least o:
I could possibly go on to notoriety level 23 with that =P |

I have found some items I know my guildies would love but I just have to sell them instead. It would be nice to give others an item you would end up selling or trashing |
I disagree with that. In the drudgery of getting through the 40's I have been "working" a lot in Isla Tormenta. I have picked up 4-5 Spineskull Blades, all of which I have sold because I already have better weapons. In fact, I have sold off better weapons.
Why give away good weapons? I think people don't appreciate things of value unless they earn them. My point is I was carrying around 4 rare/famed/cursed swords at one point, which is ridiculous. I think there are too many top-notch weapons available just for the finding. So far I have been given several weapons quests, and each time the "fantastic" weapon I have earned is not as good as what I already have. This is disappointing. I think what I earn should be better than what I just happen to pick up. Crimson Rose |
Crimson, the highest class of quest weapon is the one weapon you will need when your Unlimited Access runs out. It may seem worthless to you because it doesn't have all those bells and whistles, but there is a very good reason why they are highly priced! No enemy will cough them up and you can never earn them again! lol
btw, if you only saw the face these Unlimiteds make when I struck down all those guys at Tormenta like nothing with those humble quest weapons, you'd smile from ear to ear. Absolutely priceless. XD |
Future Updates
I think we need to be a bit more grounded in what likely Disney could add to the game this year.
New Island - the leaked pic is probably a good indicator that this will happen. Another Story Quest - It's been 4 years. Why should this year be any different? Same for the Kraken. The videos back in 2007 and 2008 looked great. Shouldn't take 4 years to finish it, so I've stopped waiting. Davy Jones Locker - I like this idea but how does it fit into the overall story? It doesn't - yet. So, don't hold your breath. New Ship Enemies - Cheap and easy. Just make brig enemies. There done. Very likely we will see this. SOTL - NEVER. The designers said it was an accident and they never intended for us to have them. Now, having said that. I would love a boss battle where we have to cripple, board and capture then steal one! You just don't get to keep it. Story Quest of Ship Customization - I love this! This should have been done at the same time it was released. Again, easy to do. Just give the shipwrights quests you can do that include finding certain things and upgrading your ship. New Invasion Enemies - While I would love to see EITC guys storming the docks, likely won't happen. Be a navy, eitc, Undead, or pirate - Perfect new potion idea. New Weapons - We've seen the axes and scimitars and know that they're pretty much done. Just add'em. I have only a short wish list. Captain's Quarters or building on Tortuga that acts like boarding house - where you can store extra stuff. Really simple to do lookwise, filewise I'm sure its a big headache to pull off. Trading - Again. Easy to operate to but hard on the programming side. Crafting - This could tremendously open up the game. Finish blacksmithing quests then you could customize a weapon. Coupled with Trading, you can be weapons maker, or shipwright yourself. Wow. Fisticuffs (martial arts) - I'm self-promoting because I think my new skill is a pretty good idea and it would be a good fit. More roleplaying events. We have the Black Guard, The Casa De Muertos and the Marceline already established. Give them something to do. This involves NO NEW DEVELOPMENT just paying the GMs to work weekends. More replayable random quests. Give all of the NPCs basic, dumb quests that we can pick up and do whenever. Kill an enemy, deliver a message, sink a ship, etc. Busy work for those who've done it all. Again no big effort. |
I like the martial arts idea. There could be various hand wraps or brass knuckles like in that other pirate game.

I won't say what it actually is. But it will create more quests for this particular need I addressed to them. I find it all the more puzzling why they haven't done so by now, but we'll see. :SkullBullet1: |
I have a list.
* Jolly Rogers you can buy, a lot of designs from famous pirates, to game made.:pirate_flag: *A shop you can set up, like on Tortuga or Port Royal. But only clothes or cards or somethings, or else people could just get undeserved weapons and people will find the game boring and that spells the end of the game, and you can make the price to make people wanna buy your clothes and cards, and maybe potions. * Guild Wars. Not just some PVP on very limited maps. But big areas with buildings where everyone has the same health and you can send Musketeers to snipe. Whoever dies gets to watch the rest of the battle, you can limit what weapons you can use, like musket or some kinda gun only with cover, like rocks. Or just people chopping each other up till the other team dies and the match is over.:buds: Because people who wanna take over the Caribbean need a way, like annoying EITC who point a gun at your head randomly in Kings Arm. O_o. * Tavern Fights, just enter a tavern, buy some rum, whack somebody and start a fight ( Nobody dies, but you can punch kick, and most of all, drink RUM. ):buds: * Setting up a table to make a crew. People who wanna join, go over, press shift and wait in line, then get in the crew ( Just a second way to crew, just to be like in the movies :]) :dancetl6: * Buying food and drink at taverns. * More weapons, Axes, Tomahawks, Spears, Hammers to whack the undead, MUSTARD! Just kidding, making sure your paying attention. A big stick, maybe. * Boarding certain Ship of the Lines that come at you when you get to the top of Scoundrel on the seas:pirate2wn0: *New islands, big islands so we have a lot to discover ( I'm sad that El Patrons Mine was so small.) Like a HUGE island, like GIGANTIC, with lots of buildings, you can climb to the top of it's mountains, with some enemies up there, with a new ship, like the Interceptor ( I know the Game Makers sometimes call the War Sloop an Interceptor, but an actual Interceptor ) No War Interceptor, no regular Interceptor, no light interceptor, just Interceptor. You just gotta buy it to get there fast, because they do say the Interceptor is VERY fast. A new powerful boss, not as powerful as Foul, but a boss in a cave at the top of the mountain. :EnemyBullet: Like on Devils Anvil you can fight crabs and scorpions, like maybe here you can fight lobsters, maybe a big Lobster Boss :laughks2: And at this island, like the rage ghost, the East India Trading Company storm this island, like Rage Ghost and Invasions and East India Trading Company mixed. It's also like Rage Ghosts becuz it only happens at night. * More crew allowed on board your ship, which means more cannons, but need more pirates to man them. But only like a few more, which also mean slightly longer ships, and to even it out, making it wider, and the sails taller. Hopefully if this happens, they don't overdo it. * Scoundrel of the seas being optional, so you can once again get all royals for tons of money, not materials. * Going under deck and seeing your loot. * I'm not going to rush them on the Kraken, because then they would make it really bad with tons of glitches. * Tia Dalma, in her HOUSE. It's right behind her yet she never goes in, she just keeps feeding that alligator, and the alligator just stays there forever, never sleeps. * More money when digging up treasure, it's a treasure chest, you shouldn't onl get like, 6 dollars. |
Hire better Imagineers. With test releases left alone for half a year, the guys at Burbank are practically putting money into the servers and raking subscriptions while the old Imagineers are doing something else.
