Runtime Error

Hey everyone.
This is my first post here! :dancetl6:
Back to business..
I seem to be getting an error.
Ill post like a little spoiler thing here to tell you what it is

OS: Windows 7 SP1
RAM: 4gb
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6300
Error:
Runtime Error!
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's' support team for more information.
Graphics Setting: High
Occurance: When you leave a ship, weather sinking or porting.
API: Directx9

EDIT: Just got it with OPENGL! D:

I dont feel like bothering disney for support, so I came to you guys, you all seem pretty good at solving this kind of thing without weird optimism you get in their e-mails :mickeypiratezd4:

Thanks ahead of time!

Set your graphics to low, update your graphics card, you can also run defraggler and CCleaner on your computer.

More info:
When i land, it only crashes when i have loot (-_-)
It only happens on directx, opengl works. But directx is much faster.
I updated my graphics, directx, and microsoft c++ libraries.
Ill try ccleaner, thanks for help :captain:

Captain Sharktooth 04-06-2012 07:58 AM

How often does this happen? We all get the boot and dc sometimes, if it happens every time you log on though, then it's a problem.

Every time i dock/sink with loot on board. :skull:
It only happens with directx.
Not with opengl tho.
ccleaner = no effect.

jeep70 04-12-2012 04:52 PM

Anyone out there?
I'll just try Disney support...
:bookishfj7:

Captain Sharktooth 04-12-2012 08:50 PM

Try Game Booster?

And are you on Directx8 or Directx9? Whichever you're on, maybe switch to the other?

I am on DX9, and i have tried DX8, in which it is too slow to enjoy. (I havent tried sailing at that point, but it was so slow it was unenjoyable and not really an option for me) I do run Gamebooster. :GypsyBullet:

Hey, mate, check the spoiler. I highlighted for you where the problem lies. Its the runtime from your ATI that's causing it. You need to go to your ATI control panel and disable that runtime feature in the Advance property. ATI runtime has a tendency to cause certain issues when enabled. So give it a shot and see if that works.

Best of luck. Hope I solved your problem.

Just got the error again!
if it helps any, it says in the title bar Microsoft C++ Runtime Error.

richfireskull 04-22-2012 03:59 PM

Jeep, I might have a solution to your problem.. It may or may not work but it is C++ 2010. I think it worked for some other people but seeing as you have windows 7 it should already be there or have something better. You can try this if you want and the link is SAFE. It will take you away from POF and to the Microsoft website, I hope this helps

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en...s.aspx?id=5555

Platinum Pirate 04-22-2012 04:07 PM

Really sorry mate that this is happening to you. This sounds like a Windows 7 problem. Biggest clue though is the amount of RAM you have now which is 4 MB. That's the bare minimum all new Windows 7 comps are installed with. You actually need double that amount. Before you buy it, check out their web site for further info:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...-runtime-error

Could be malicious software too. Could be some program in conflict with another. So check it out, contact their tech support too. Honestly, they're very good at fixing Window problems and this is their responsibility. With your permission, they will do it from their site.

4 GB you mean and Win 7 is less resource hungry than Win XP (at least I think so anyway) and I have 3 GB of ram and could get away with running Win 7 on my machine

Platinum Pirate 04-23-2012 07:25 AM

My bad, I meant 4 GB. Simple typo. You probably have a better processor and more video RAM to offset what resources Windows 7 is eating away. Most users have average comps no matter how new it is. Even those gaming comps are a joke. Don't get me started. lol

Right now our fellow member is having issues. Some of us cared enough to help him based on what we know.

I gave him a solution that worked for other members in the past so don't be rude, and I have a pentium D 805. And Jeep, I suggest you run a full virus scan with something like norton or avg just to be safe. Also increasing your ram might help.

Ill give it a shot, thanks ahead of time!
I will try a norton scan, but I cant really increase my RAM tho.

jeep70 04-23-2012 04:54 PM

Err... Scratch that... I got a little box that said:
Please resolve the following:

A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.

I searched C++ in add/remove programs and.... well now im confused:

richfireskull 04-23-2012 05:27 PM

Okay then I really dont know =/ and your posts may be edited into one. and Ram is pretty cheap, I will assume your computer is new enough to use DDR3 and a 1 GB card of Kingston ram is roughly 13 - 15 dollars. or you can try adding to your paging file hehe. If you want I can try to tell you how to increase page file (it acts like ram only slower and is on hard drive)

ThunderKiss 04-23-2012 06:48 PM

I had this runtime error once and from what I found out it is from left over stuff not needed in your registry. I downloaded CC Cleaner from download .com. It cleans and fixes these problems. I have windows 7 with 4 GB. It fixed a couple things and I havent seen runtime since.

richfireskull 04-23-2012 09:55 PM

Well uninstalling and reinstalling Pirates could hep but I have never heard of the program and website ThunderKiss listed (and I am a tech savvy person). if you have any log files from POTCO look through them to see what might be wrong, try upgrading your graphics driver to the newest version (and remember, BETA Drivers are not bad. I use Beta Drivers for my Nvidia card)

ThunderKiss 04-24-2012 08:27 AM

Download .com is CNET , very popular place to get reviews and download programs. CC Cleaner is a registry cleaner. I said nothing about re downloaded the game. Just trying to help.

I use CCleaner, atleast monthly. Didn't seem to do anything for me.
Also, I haven't been getting it every time anymore. But still, atleast 6/10 of the time. So, still a problem. Any more suggestions would be nice :)

richfireskull 04-27-2012 07:40 PM

Have you tried restarting your computer, resinstalling the game, and....... OH! defragmenting your hard drive?
