Well, it's officially over now...
Well, our favorite little world in the Caribbean has now officially gone dark.
Where were you when you closed it for the last time? Did you see the end? |
I stayed deep within the catacombs of Padres Del Fuego to spend my final moments with Jolly Roger. :(

Drinking the Rum in Kings Arms and fell over the bar

I had thought of spending my last moments at Tormenta. Instead, I ended up at General Darkhart with my brother. It was there when I first got my fame ever, the Seven Seas Cutlass, a couple of years ago. My brother was able to get his first Legendary, Silver Freeze, from there last year in late July. I had just gotten my first Summon Chicken potions a couple of days before during a Boss Battle to celebrate a friend's birthday. He was Basic at the time which made it extra special that his first and main pirate got a Legendary. I didn't. No matter how often I played, it didn't happen. I didn't redeem those Legendary codes either for El Patron or Barbossa. Just wasn't right for my main pirate to do.
And so there we were with Perseus and Pegasus. I activated that chicken potion while Per activated his Super Flatuent Fizz award. We laughed so hard listening to all those sounds and seeing all those green odors liven up that Undead area. We even managed to complete that Father's Day quest together in those final moments leading up to it. Per's had just expired while Peg still had his. And yes my chicken flapped his wings too. And it was made sweeter by the fact that I pirated my last with that same laptop I used when I first set sail in 2008. :SkullBullet1: |
dancing on the dock on port royal with friends

I wasn't even on the game when it ended... I have to say I don't really feel anything still except disappointment. Time to move on I suppose... It was a nice 4 and a half years playing this game

I did the last Port Royal Invasion with friends and then we all danced and talked.
|
I gave all the jails a thorough inspection the last time I was logged in. Sad that I won't be able to anymore, but there's always a bright side
|
After defeating Jolly one last time in an invasion, I jumped on to the Victory Shark with a bunch of my guildmates and friends alongside me, and we sailed off to the horizon :)
|
I myself spend the last hour hanging out with the McRaging guild and some of the people who worked on the game, which made for some really interesting conversations. Then I watched the final fireworks from my very first Light Sloop the Shadow Fish (I'd never had the nerve to delete it) holding the sword I got from the El Patrons quest so many years ago, which I found was fittingly named the "Bitter End".
But then when the game didn't shut down on time, I wound up sailing on Eric Mcrage's ship one last time, and eventually we landed on Cutthroat Isle, where the game eventually ended without warning, but I was still clutching the Bitter End, to the bitter end :P |
Before the moon came down on Tortuga, I spent the time behind the bar in Kings Arm. And I continued standing there at the counter hoping one of my favorite customers will appear...

I had to say goodbye to Orinda. Loved that ugly wench..
https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/...79802424_n.jpg After seeing the masses on Port Royal I needed to go sail, so I did. https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/...30353566_n.jpg Then I spent the last few minutes in game making it to the end. :( https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/...48242713_n.jpg Fair Winds Mates. It's been a wild and crazy ride. |
Spent the last night on Tortuga. Spent most of my money on clothes. Had 86 cents left.
I then danced the jig with many pirates on the shore and dock of Tortuga. Dancing, Talking and being merry and sad at the same time. I then set sail on my ship "The Dark Revenge" and set course off the map and away from the islands. (I Videoed it and put it on youtube) NOW, BRING ME THAT HORIZON !! We're devils and black sheep, and really bad eggs, Drink up, me 'hearties, YO HO !!!!!!!! |
I'm glad I'm not the only one, Sarah. No, I didn't bid Orinda a fond farewell. She were always a fearsome homely, timid wench, and never a favorite of mine.
But I did feel the need to sail to world's end. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_13-55-52.jpg A perverse aside - I always thought it would be funny as heck if, when you sailed to the world's edge, you'd find a big, neon Mickey Mouse sign, with a waving mechanical arm, next to an equally gaudy neon sign that said "Eat at Joe's" with an arrow. Just my weird thinking. After that I sailed back to that sweet spot - midway between Port Royal, Tortuga and Devil's Anvil and just watched the new game day unfold. I saw brave ships out there plundering until the very end. I'll give Disney one thing - they rendered a sky like nobody's business. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_14-17-45.jpg Sarah - I saw you, and Sven O'Smythe (Svenny!), and Kat O'Hara and Frank Hardy and others online there towards the end. I was torn. I kind of wanted to shout out to all of you but I also just wanted to experience it alone. I went the selfish route and just stayed at the wheel of my ship until it was over. But I've got to give it up to those pirates on Abassa - in the final minutes that server was still full. There must have been some kind of party going on there. Way to go out, me fellow swashbucklers! They were partying like, well, pirates over there! http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_14-17-24.jpg It was beautiful. I've taken more screenshots in the last week than I'd taken in my entire 6 years playing the game. I don't know whether to curse Disney or bless them. What a great experience, but how bitter to have it slip away. |
Old guild mates came together for one last great trip over the oceans. Pirates I had not seen or played with for several years on a single war frigate plowing the seas and manning the cannons like we always had years ago.
It was bittersweet, kind of sad and loads of fun all at the same time. I stopped at all my favorite leveling spots and took one last look around. Only one thing I wanted to do that I didn't get to. Would have like to take the Pearl one more time for the nostalgia of it. It was a fitting way to end a six-year run. |

It's touching seeing that most of you spent your last moments in the game doing something meaningful. I had meant to spend my last moments with Alice aboard her Red Queen, but unfortunately I went to go take a nap a few hours before closing and my alarms didn't wake me up. So when the game went down Alice was AFK, alone in the back of Tortuga :laughks2:
At least I got to spend the night before with a bunch of guildmates I hadn't seen in quite a while. We sailed into the horizon and ended up playing bumper boats, and I think that makes up for my lil blunder. |

It felt strange logging in over the last two weeks. I had strayed from the game long ago, but after hearing of its closing I just had to return for one last adventure. It was sad to see my guild and friends list plagued by inactivity, just a bitter reminder of why (partly) I left in the first place, but the last day truly was special. I personally saw my list of online friends go from a maximum of six the previous two weeks, to a grand total of seventeen in the final hours. So many people I never imagined I would see again wound up returning to see the game off. I personally spent my final hours visiting places that held meaning to me. The day before closing I went to Tormenta, the home of so many glows. I then spent the night before at the back beach of Padres, fighting the General with a few friends. On the day of closing, I spent quite a while at Kingshead, the location I first mastered a weapon, and the home of the once infamous empty Kingshead glitch. Afterwards I went on a boss battle with Char and Char (:buds:), and we rescued the Pearl one last time. We then spent our final moments dancing away on the docks of Port Royal, only to be joined by many of our guildmates and friends.. as well as a large group of strangers who had gathered for the cancelled invasion. I'll post my pictures later.. they're pending approval |

Did the rounds of all the friends and POTCO family. Took pictures for keepsakes of all the great SVS gang. Shared sad condolences and goodbyes. Had a great time with all of you over the last 3 years with my main pirates, Davy DreadRoberts and D Bones. Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish. |
I'm really psyched for those of you who got to spend your last pirate adventure with your friends, especially those of you who got to be reunited with old faces! :pirate2: The thing that had always made the game extra special to me was the awesome friends I had made along the way. I'd only come online a few times over the past year, but unfortunately, even though I logged in nearly every day over the last month, not one friend or guildmate came online. Granted, the vast majority of people on my friends list had been there since 2008 and 2009, but I still saw most of them around from time to time, so it seemed odd. I considered weeding out my friends list a bit since I was at the maximum so I could make some new alliances at the end and not be left alone in the final days... but when I considered the possibility that someone might come online for a last hoorah, I couldn't bring myself to do it. It was disappointing, but I'm glad I held out for them anyway. Would've always wondered if I had missed someone otherwise.
Anyway, I spent the last day before closing going to every island and taking screenshots of various locations and my favorite nooks and crannies. On the last morning, I spent some time soloing the Colossus flagship, something I remember getting really scared to do even with a crew back in my early pirating days, so it's become sort of a hey look at how far I've come I can do this by myself no sweat hobby. Sad to have done my last one ever. :( I used to be really scared of the Stumps, too, so I stopped off at Outcast and took down some of those bad boys. I visited Tormenta, defeating all the enemies I once avoided like the plague. My last morning was like a big... day of reminiscing and doing things I once couldn't do as a baby pirate and reflecting on how far I'd come. As time neared its end, I realized I would regret spending the final moments by myself, so I went to Port Royal and lost myself amongst the crowd that had gathered. I thought the fireworks were a nice - but heartbreaking - touch for closing time. Can't imagine I was the only one who cried at that. :zix0tl: |

You were not the only one who cried! That was a poignant finish. Though I did love that they threw in one last invasion at the supposed closing time. I was surprised that the game's end upset me so much. I have played off and on for years. I'd take a month or so off and jump back in and start a new pirate. I loved the humor of the game and thought all the quests were great. I sent Disney an email telling them how I felt. Whether it helped or not, it made me feel better! |
So sad. :(
I wasn't online when it ended but I did get to spend my last time with one of my favourite pirates. I see some people made their last final moment special which is great! |
Well, since I spent so many long hours since 2008 in Abassa, I decided to remain there and see if I would recognize anyone. I hadn't played the game in a year or two prior to hearing about its closing, and because my account was banned I had to make a new one. I did see a few people I knew, but not any of my best friends which saddened me.
However there was quite the party going on in Abassa. Many people were dancing around the GM Bonnie that was standing on the dock. She was wishing everyone farewell. The chat was going crazy, and there were lots of spammers, but it reminded me of the good old Abassa days when it was ALWAYS full. I will miss you POTCO, and all of the wonderful friends and memories I made. -Maggie Truehound:dancetl6: |
