Yes, you read right. The much anticipated Boss Battle is finally up and running. You heard it here first!!!!

I will be waiting til after the weekend to do it anyway, want some of my guildies there and one works all weekend so she won't be there.

I decided to give it a go alone, just to see it, BAD decision...LOL! Wasn't expecting those Lev 35's right off the bat..I lasted all of ten seconds.

I made it all the way to the last drawbridge doin it solo (my crew died off the bat). I'm goin in again with crew this time. pix to come!!!

It's not bad if you're leveled.

You just gotta manage to take out all those towers, by the time you get out in the harbor with the Goliath you're home free, it goes down pretty easy.

OMG that was awesome. It helps with a crew. Goliath needs to be a bit higher lvl though. Pearl retrieved and brought back a bit damaged, but fair :)

Nice! Looks like fun! So I take it we have to wait 6 months more to get anything else added to the game lol.

its fun doing it a bit hectic at first lol. but they needed to make it longer cuz now we are all back to what we were doing before. lvlin up weapons lol

that's exactly what I'm doing now.. as soon as I boarded the ship they killed me. I stood there less than a second :(

Can you run it more than once?
If you complete it yourself, are you able to crew up with others who need help and run it with them again?

How do you destroy the bridges? Do you use cannons again?

Anyone up for a crew battle right now? I tried soloing, but my cannon skills are just horrid in comparison to my sailing so I can't get past the attack ships alone. ^^

LOL, I kinda went to bed Davy. I think you crew up and can go back to do it over and over again. It definitely needs a good crew. Perfect crew would be a min of 4.....one to sail and 3 cannoneers. After defeatin the officers, you start goin and the Light Frigates come in....that boots the capt off the wheel and forces him to cannon. 2 cannoneers on each side to take them down fast n easy. Then once you sink the 4 LFs, the bridges start.

Capt runs back to the wheel, turn ship broadside to the bridges and the 3 cannoneers fire away at them. I used open fire and take cover to protect the ship. After the first set of bridges, let my skills recharge up, then do it again....broadside to the bridges, and repeat. I think its 4 sets of bridges. After the last set, you enter the harbor with Goliath (Cut to goliath scene here). Once it goes back to your control, hit Full speed and turn to broadside Goliath. Hes wayyyyy easier to take down than Juggs. I went to get a screenshot but we had him down in less than 5 secs.

After completing the Boss the new sailing skill will unlock. I love the skill!!!

Me and Jack just tried it and I can't do it.:degen: He said that 3/5 made it, then 2/5 made it to the battle, then he himself made it for 5 seconds...at least that's what I think he said.:laughks2:

Just out of curiosity, what is the new sailing skill that you get if you complete the quest?

I guess I shouldnt attempt it alone... hehehe.

Me and a few guildmateys completed it.
You then visit Sparrow, and get Leadership Sailing Skill. Then, no more quests!

Just beat the boss a few mins ago and we did it with 2 people(a friend and I).

Boss was little difficult at first, but was pretty easy. We fought it with very low health.

I'm so excited, heart is still pumping.

**Side note: Don't know if its a glitch or not, but somehow people are getting left behind when you go into the boss battle. They even clicked yes on the pop-up window and still left behind. happened to me once already.

im probably the only one not caught in the hype. havent did it myself, only at 80% on my other, and i dont wanna complete the quest that badly if it means trudging through some more "chores veiled as quests"

my other one is at 1% and level 35, so thats a no go either.
I have found a new annoyance though..random people asking to be on crew or asking me if im doing it and can they join, while i try to run away from them.

I would like to say a big thankyou to my mateys who accompanied me on this epic journey LOL, but it was still too SHORT.
I hope the next "exciting" chapter of Pirates will be better than what we've had already.

Oh thanks for the pictures of Goliath. I so wanted to see it. I played alone and only got to the 4th bridge. When I continued on from the 3rd, I was sunk. lol Still going to try, just prolonging the experience. ;)

lasted longer using my doll. they got me on the last tower. i later joined my guildmates and finished it on our first try.

I did it solo with me doll as well. Only way I could survive was for lifedrain!! I was taken down by the last bridges as well.

wow... my guildmates and i finished it on the first try. it wasn't even that hard. we lost our lvl 17 guildie, but the rest of us (3 of us, including me) finished it no problem.

honestly i'm a little disappointed... but not completely surprised.

I loved the battle.. I'd love to do it again.
It would be great if it could be longer though :)

I finished it on the fourth try. The third try.. everyone else died on me while fighting the officers on deck. Hmph! I didnt make it to the bridges after that. The fourth try was successful with three ppl total. The bridges were cool.. nice new thing to do. Goliath was suprisingly easy! I thought it would have been a battle.. but we sailed past it.. turned broadsides and shot the thing for a few minutes and it was sunk before it even took a shot! I'd love to be able to do it over and over again just for fun.. I hope that can be put in to the game as a "thing to do" Even if you didnt get much for it but whatever the sunken ships gave up.. that would be ok with me.. something different to do, ya know?!
Im hoping to help a few others on the battle coming up here soon... I cant wait. It was exhilerating! Im just a bit bummed now that its over... nothing to look forward to except more leveling up of weapons. ;)

After our guild finished (in about less than two minutes) we all kept saying "That's it?" I mean, I thought it was suppose to be challenging..it wasn't, at all. We did the battle about three times in a row just trying to do it more quickly and knock out ALL the bridges to beat our first time lol.

Here I thought that this was something that I was going to have to set some time aside for. Instead, the entire battle took less time than it would have for me to make a bag of popcorn. I've fought sloops peskier than the Goliath. Two broadsides, a few cannon shots from my crew mates and it was all over and done with. The first time I got to the last bridges with one crew mate. Second time went with three others. Cake walk.

With all the problems that they were having launching the battle, I was expecting something epic. Instead it was more depressing than anything. I expected to be curious about what's to come next, instead I'm just trying not to get my hopes up.

I know that there are countless posts detailing how lame the battle was. What more they could have, should have done with it. In the end, it just came off as feeling rushed. Like, let's hurry up and get this out before people lose interest and leave the game all together.

It's a sad night in the Caribbean for me. And summer just can't come soon enough.:sadmh9:

Well, be honest....didnt we rush them? They pulled it the first time cause it was too easy. And remember, the general game is based on 10 y/o+. Too difficult and it may be too much for them to handle. I'm just glad they came out with it so they can get started on the next chapter.

I was a bit disappointed as well, but happy to get it over with. Like Angel said, now they can move on to adding another chapter. I for one, was losing interest. And I have only been playing this a couple months compared to some that have been playing since it was in beta.

I've said this in another thread. Just try to have some fun with your friends on the game! If you get bored, find a challenge you might not have tried yet, or start another pirate... I have, and it makes the game more interesting to find things I haven't seen or tried before!

If you get bored, find something to do. Exploit glitches, make a game within the game, just have some fun. Its all about creativity!

I'm afraid to even know what it looked like the first time if it was too easy! lol. I understand the target demographic for the game and they want to keep it fun for them. But Disney realizes, I'm sure, that people above the age of ten do play. So they give us places like Tormenta and Kingshead to run around in. But a boss is a boss, and most of these kids today are so computer/video game savvy that they would have whooped the boss anyway!

But definitely, I'm sticking around, I love bantering with my guild, eventually trying to master all the weapons, I've even started picking up the various quests from the NPCs in the taverns and all that; I started a new pirate, but just can't get into playing her until my main is 40, if all the weapons aren't mastered by then. Just something to keep going as we also work to build our guild. Because honestly, summer will be here before we know it and I want to be ready for it! Because when the next chapter launches, there's going to be a fresh new wave of players jumping on the game and I can't wait! More players, more money for development, more improvements to the game (hopefully).

i felt a bit underwhelmed by the boss battle too, as its nothing ive never done before in some fashion,

solo'ing the officers during the first part felt simply like a flashback to when i was a lil level 20 and solo boarding the man o wars, same tactics, involved some running and attuning, life drain etc, rinse repeat.

the 4 frigates were jokes, even solo as they couldnt do enough damage in the the time that it took to go to cannon to cannon and take them out, ive been hit harder simply sailing into a pack of panthers while sailing.

the forts were ok, but, still not to anyone with a high damage cannon skill or mastered cannon etc who could aim well enough to hit a fairly large object sitting STILL.

the goliath was basically a juggernaut, and like the juggernaut, is driftwood to a few high cannon levels.

as it stands right now, since it encourages crew, and considering its the last quest so far, i think they should have expected multiple mid to high level 30's and even a few 40's doing it because of the long wait, lots of people had time to level weapons and not, and the average completion of quests for my friends is around 32-36, so disney shoulda saw that the challenge was not gonna push any of the combined players' abilities at all, hard to get excited because honestly, that many level 30+ people really can do insane damage.

the pearl "battle" was nothing but a slaughter, the difficulty needs to be ramped up so that its challenging for multiple people, not just the adults, cuz most of my friends arent, and they have made it through just fine.

i feel like a wet blanket but, as far as ive noticed, everyone ive done it with, have complained or expressed their surpise at the ease of it.

Remember, if you did the pearl when the quest came available for you, you wouldve been about notoriety lvl 25ish. Then u get the order to lvl all weapons to Mastered status? Whats that about?!? They should've made the boss battle harder then had it set at a min of notoriety 32 to get in or something.
