Ghost Ships overpowered?
These ships take down my ships, and my crew's ships VERY easily, like one barrage of fire cannonballs to the hull will take us down, and the lightning bolts that they shoot take us down in one barrage too... I personally think they are WAY overpowered.... :sadmh9:

I actually love Skellies, because even the biggest don't shoot forwards (unless they changed it...I haven't played with a Harbie in a while).
If you stay in front of them, you're fine. :) |
I dont think they are too powerful, if anything thier proximity to others is more a problem, they come up and hit me when im battling other ships, and dont expect it. hehe.
First check thier levels. The Phantoms are the easiest. If your having a hard time with skeleton ships try working these (they are also most predictable). Revenants, and Storm Reapers are a bit more aggressive and hit quite a bit harder. The new french/spanish flag ships are quite a bit more aggressive, a bit more of a challenge, and might prove difficult for newer, lower level pirates, however I find the challenge refreshing. As Aliese said, stay in front of them. I find that when you get them coming towards you, you can have crew blasting with cannons, while you fire broadsides and bring them down. If they do get close to you, then they almost always turn left when they get to your ship, so I like to be heading that direction so I can move forward, and circle to stay in front as it gets finished off. If im facing the other direction, a quick full sail usually lets me circle around behind them, dont like this though because im vulnerable to a broadside. Sometimes I hit ComeAbout and turn my ship the right direction at the same time, but this can confuse your cannoneers having to rush to the other side of the ship. |
Yeah i hate the war sloops the most though. They can easily manuver around you. Especially when u have a galleon.
|
A broadside of thunder can take you down really quick. They're only overpowered if you are side by side I find. Granted, the toughest ship I used against them facing a broadside was a War Sloop or Frigate, but 10 or so bolts did me in each time. (3 times this did occur.)

I can take them out all by myself with no crew. The trick is to not let them shoot you :laughks2:
I've taken a Phantom out with 3 precise lightning shots on multiple occasions. The spanish/french are tough s.o.b.'s though. What's with a Lvl 18 ship being full of 6 lvl 29 undead? Gets me every time. |
dfrives me nuts when I kill the crew
of a spanish scourge and then all of a sudden a lvl 29 drops from the heavens and before I can finish him the rest of the crew is back |
yeah isnt there a glitch where the crew on the ghostships.. im not sure if it happens on the other 2 but they just keep coming out. I had 2 crew friends with 30+ noto and we kept killing them but they never stopped coming out.. then my friend said it was a glitch we couldnt get out of. So...

The Blood Scourges [sp] kill me right away I have a frigate and right when a fire brand hits me i lose have my power.

I've noticed in the past couple days that the ghosts by the Spanish Shadow Crow are starting to flock together.I would cripple the crow with no other ships around and go to the grapple hooks.Soon as I get it hooked I look up and seems there's always a Phantom now or Revenant waiting to shoot me.It seems it's getting harder sometimes to get to the ships.I noticed some Revs want to block the path from Port Royal to Outcast so now I have to try to sneek past them.

Yeah, I've had that too. But, its been fine lately, but I've been seeing that when you destroy a ship sometimes, it blows up, and fireballs, really big fireballs, end up coming out of thier ships (I'm not sure if it's all of the ships) and destroys my ship...

So basicly if you dont kill them fast enough they come back? Thats pretty stupid because what if your trying to solo a ghost ship :P
|
I thought a recent patch fixed the respawn bug (if you don't kill them fast enough).
|
I'm trying to get a french blood scourge.. As soon as I board it, a lot of captains appear and they are high lv :( They keep killing me :( I guess I'll have to do it with a crew... any help? :dancetl6:

If you board a Ghost Flaggy and can leave one alive... eventually you'll see them all start to come back! This is annoying though with where there is a clitch - and thats one one of the skellys is off the ship (floating just off the bow for example) and you have to get him before the rest start to 'regenerate'. Usually means quick work with Daggers, Gernades or if close enough Staffs... otherwise they just keep coming, and coming, and coming :) As for Ghost Ships in general - the levels dictate the damage they do I find... A L19 Phantom shoots lighting at me and its Lighting Damage is minor on my War Frigate... yet... pull that stunt on a L35 Black Halibringer and his Lighting Frys 1/2 the ship in a single blast! Theri levels definitely play a part to their ammo strength. :) Also, the Flaggys are tougher - they automatically seem to get the high level ammo no matter what Level of the craft (so the L11 Sloop and the L22 Cerebrus seem to both do major damage from their weapons). Thats what I've noticed so far... :) Edit: Sorry Rabbit, see you got the answer posted down farther in the thread... the eyes not working so well now - too tired I guess ;) |
All the ships are easy, you just need to go about it in a sensible way. You race up to the skellie ships you are likely to take heavy damage. So what do you do, get lightning cannon balls, and shoot the ship and get it coming to you. Now that it nicely lines up on you, you take down the sails. Skellies take more shots to take down the sails, but quite easy once you perfect your cannon skill and where to shoot. No sails, means easy pray, broadsides or cannon.
As for the flag ships, last time I tried them, you just shoot the crew from your ship before boarding, then you don't get a re spawn when you board and take out the crew. |
I also think the ghost ships are way overpowered now. Even the phantoms are tough to sink but the Revs and Reaps really sink even my war galleon fast!

If i've had any problems, its with a random skeleton ship appearing to be a bit over excited, and firing on a whim, and in full sail mode constantly (impossible to outrun). I've had them chase me across the ocean quite aways determined to get me (for some unknown reason).
Did Jolly Roger put a bounty on my head? |
