Big problem! I need help asap

My computer will not allow me to open either toontown or pirates of the caribbean! I did download some window updates this moring but I cant even pull up the POC game website! The message I get when I try says it is retrieving version info and then it just goes away. I don't know why this is happening because I am an umlimited and my pirate is lvl 37 Now suddenly this I get an error opening toontown that says launcher cant be found. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

ben firespinner

hmm .. "window updates" would appear to be the fly in the ointment .. have you tried doing a "restore" to when things were working okay..?

ol' rotten John
Avast!

The game seems to be down for everyone right now. If TT is down as well, then it's a Disney thing.

Wildwood 07-10-2008 01:21 PM

Nice....pay you money and still you get denied access.

JadeMcHawk 07-10-2008 01:23 PM

All Disney sites are down period. This may be a very long wait.

Mr.LoveLocket 07-10-2008 01:48 PM

Usually when pirates is not working its my internet but guess not.. good thing i read this :D

JadeMcHawk 07-10-2008 02:24 PM

umm, do you guys have AVG, had a friend of mine that doesn't get onto the sites. May be an AVG issue....again

JollyRancher 07-10-2008 02:27 PM

i've never had this problem before so is something wrong with piratesor my computer?

Sarah 07-10-2008 02:57 PM

I don't think it's AVG this time, even the main POTCO site is down. Drat, and I had some time to play.....

Mr.LoveLocket 07-10-2008 03:19 PM

lizard_king 07-10-2008 03:39 PM

Hmm, I wonder what the new updates (if any) will be :O

Dr. Zeppers 07-10-2008 04:15 PM

I dont see anything new, the scale of their systems being down would indicate to me either they upgraded/worked on thier connectivity and or hardware systems.

If that is the case, hopefully we will see smoother sailin... less lag, and have more fun. :)

I was on late last night, and they put up a notice that the site would be down for maintenance. This was at 12:30 cst, and they kept counting it down for us until 1:00 a.m. cst. No explanation as to what or why, though.

davy redflint 07-10-2008 08:53 PM

they must have fix it just log on, nothing new lol

greatertater 07-11-2008 02:57 PM

That was indeed part of the problem but I fixed my particular problem when I noticed my AVG 8.0 had performed a scan during the night before I tried to log in and in fact had recognized POTC as a trojan which reminded me of a bug report I read b4 where POTC mentioned some AVG 8.0 users, even the newest downloaded AVG, was still recognizing the game launcher as a trojan. Even toontown, loaded for my 3 and 4 years old, was unable to launch so I knew it must be a launcher error. Sure enough AVG had recognized it as so. I easily fixed that problem and I also fixed the api text as pandad9 instead of default in the script using a script reader and that made the game much better in terms of lagging. Now I recall I read where I shouldve used pandad10 as Im a vista premium user instead of pandad9 and that will help even more I hope.

Thanks for all ur help! I was a little panicked I couldn't get my POTC fix! he he

Sarah 07-11-2008 03:00 PM

Actually it's pandadx9

Works like a charm

By the way for those of you using Norton

For those of you using Norton here is a small tip for you, the hackers know Norton, which is among the best security programs out there without question, is the most popular program so they aim for it first. After all, that offers the best chance of reward for them so that is where they mine. At least that's what my geek told me. My two cents, keep the change~:dancetl6:
