But that has happened to me but it wasnt that big and wasnt yellow and my ship was up against the french symbol thingy.

F7 ---> Game Options ---> Graphics ---> Special Effects Level ---> HIGH.

That features shows a hull in yellow when the hull has been hit. Very convenient in SvS, to pick out a victim with outer-hull damage. I have it turned off currently (Low, not Medium) on the invalid presumption that server lag is being caused on my client computer. The network traffic delays seem to indicate the lag is now 100% on the servers, but alas, I'm leaving special effects (etc.) on low, for now, just in case.

it makes the sails red, too. :)
