Do you think Desolation is useless?
I don't. It can save you from dying (if it is maxed) when your health is low and you are fighting enemies (it can only save you from injured level 31+ enemies though) since it does not kill you. It also helps clean a ship during flagship battles.:)

I dont like it because it takes to long to cast but thats just me

For something that takes so long to charge, hurts the caster, and doesnt take out any enemies... seems like more of a hindrance than a help. Sure does look cool though. |
The only time I've ever used it is when welcoming a new guild member. ;) Takes too long to charge for battle IMO.
|
Yes I think desolation is pointless and useless.
I always say that it hurts you more than it does the enemy, which is true I only use it for showing off :) |
I put sometimes. It is useless for actually fighting, but extremely useful for impressing the newbies ;)
|
Same as everyone else. It is almost useless, but great for show and tell.
|
Yes, it's 100% useless to me because it's not even as powerful as you would think it is. The only thing it's really good for is impressing newbs in Abassa Tortuga, but that doesn't interest me at all.
|
I'm with everyone else...more of a novelty then anything...plus works well in cleaning up the dishes at the RatSkellar...
|
Sometimes. Mine kills almost everything level 15 and under, but I may be wrong. For a level 30 it takes half its health away.
|
It doesn't hurt you more than it hurts an enemy as a rule of fact, and the fact that it doesn't is a rule of fact. It doesn't always, and that is always true.
Since the amount it robs from you is set in stone, though the amount it takes from an enemy isn't, you'd have to max it to see max effect. I think it's somewhat useful always, though it's best as a closer as the amount it takes from you is smaller, and it is closer to the enemy's... desolation. Oh, one more thing: something can't be sometimes useless. If it has a use at one time, then it ain't useless. |
i like desolution but is is 100% useless the only thing its good for is impressing the newbs
|
I put sometimes its a great tool for impressing lower levels :D but for battles its quite useless.

I they could lower the damge it does to you so it is one of the better staff hexes.
Other than damage to yourself it's ok. |
I don't like the time on it wish that was made a bit shorter. I have used it quite effectively though as the first post stated. Hit like a 30+ crew with fire, then desolation. At the point desolation goes off health is already down to something like 1/8 left, so the drain is minimal, wiping everything out.
Have as well used it and immedietly switched to doll and life drain something to get health back. |
Thanks for the info. I will probably only put 1 on it when i get my staff and ill just impress people with it not fight with it. thanks
|
Aint exactly that useless.I used it and took out 3 raiders in 1 shot(25% damage and maxed it).Sure, it may hurt you badly, but it still does a good job.Granted, its better to use flaming skull. Cause flaming skull has almost the same range as whither, and can be shot far across. But thats just me.

Effectiveness in battle? Near a zero rating, it takes too long to charge, and seldom actually kills any enemies (usually takes them down a percentage of thier health, along with yours). Sure you may have made it work for you, but you chose one of the least efficient ways to achieve your goal, killing 3 raiders. Flaming skull would work in this case alot faster/easier. The length of time it takes to charge really DOES make it useless in battle. If "I" put 5 points on this matey, id be bribing POTCO to put reassignment on live, because id consider my pirate's staff points really messed up. |
With a comment like that Zeppers... well, it becomes obvious you didn't put more than a point in it. The skill is sort of like Life Drain in one way: putting points in it maximizes effectiveness alot more than for other skills: for one, since the base damage is high, it effectively boosts effectively the effective damage the passive damage boost boosts, and moreso than for any other skill. As well, the damage you take is set in stone: hence, a point extra only increases what enemies take.
