Invincible Glitch
anyone know a good invincible glitch? i need to lvl up grenades and its hard... you defeat lvl 40s and you get like 15 rep...
|
I believe they got rid of that glitch. Try going to Kingshead, stand behind the fence, and chuck nades at the small group of veterans in the middle of the courtyard. This really helps.
|
I agree grenades can be a pain to level....but if there were an active invincible glitch, why bother? There is absolutely no challenge when doing so. That's like fishing from an aquarium tank with a net (which is still probably harder....lol). Just my opinion....
KingsHead is a great place for grenade leveling. Make sure you use stink pot, smoke and fire grenades to get the most rep. I've found only having one point in each grenade skill and using the rest in passive gives the most rep. The less damage you do, the higher the rep. Mix up what you toss and leave the standard grenade as a last resort. :pirate3: |
How to do new God Glitch.
1./get your weakest ship, or buy a light sloop. 2./ Go near a ghost ship. 3./ Right before u sink tp to your port of call. _________________ http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=1725 |
Regarding the original post...
You need to retrain your grenades to reset all skills to rank 1. You need to read the guide on leveling in POTCO. You need to read the guide on leveling grenades. While grenades can be quite tiresome on your first pirate, most people need to make those same mistakes to learn why people here say over and over, to master grenades first. Once you understand how to level grenades, you'll find you can go from level 22/23 to level 25 in a couple hours. Two hours...three hours tops. If you can't do it in that sort of time-frame, then you're not doing it right. So perhaps you are better off learning the hard way...at least until you go back and read the guide, to stop making it so difficult for yourself. Quote:

There s no way any one could do that. To go from level 23 to level 25 requires a minimum of 103 kills with a minimum of 25 grenades per kill. to do that you would have to average 1 kill every 1.75 minutes. The only way I can think of that someone might be able to do it this fast would be to go to Tormenta with a crew large enough for max crew bonus. At least one very strong healer and another person taking out the seabeards or whatever that will attack you uninvited. Not a likely scenario. If there is a "right way" to do the last 2 levels (never mind 3) of grenades in 3 hrs or less I'd love to see the guide on exactly how its done and nobody could do it better then you Ed. BTW, I have read the excellent guides you linked to and I only have one point on each of my grenade types. I'll save my rant about grenades for another time, except to say that no matter how you do it, it's a long grueling ordeal unlike any other weapon. There are good reasons why most people hate them. |
You are correct - I haven't done grenades in a while. But I have helped people/healed people as they did just that, with General Darkheart. Medium-high level grenades work quickly by gathering all the dudes on Padres beach to combine hits, along with that boss.
The main points I was trying to convey though, are that #1) with retraining, there is no reason to make levelling hard by having more than one skill point on anything, #2) if you really are mastering your grenades, you'll find methods that work for you with minimal help from the guides linked above. And #3) master grenades before anything else...once you hit level 20 notoriety, do nothing else until grenades are level 25. Quote:

I agree in theory with all three of your points, but in practice no. 3 gives me pause. Who wants to do nothing but nades from 0 to 25 exclusively? People play this game for fun not to develop an obsessive compulsive disorder. No plundering? No helping friends and guild mates? Almost everything involves getting some rep. Sure its great to get it over with, but I suspect most people will be burned-out before they get there.
I'll try leveling my 3rd pirates straight through, but I bet I end up using the same approach as I have with my 2nd pirate. He's noto 36 with level 23 nades and will probably master grenades before he reaches level 40. And my other weapons are not far behind. As bearable a way as any I suspect. Just as long as you don't have several levels left at the end. |
I think you guys may be missing a little something on grenades. Though its my opinion, I wouldn't recommend leveling grenades all up first. To me it works better keeping all skills equal. If anything cutlass is the one that seems out of the loop to me now.
The difference we have now is tormenta is more a difficult spot than padres beach, ammo runs. Though with toughness, it is easy to spawn urchinfist and grenade them, rather than molusk with hex shot previously. The runs for ammo still is a issue. So keeping the skills even all can be worked on Darkhart, or Tortuga swamp boss. Working all missile attacks, dagger, pistol, staff, grenade. Doll levels itself and never a problem, so getting work in with cutlass is the hold up. Using it on Darkhart makes him go melee attack on ya. Leveling last couple levels in all these things has seemed a lot easier to me, than just grenades in tormenta or something, with no ammo shop right there. The reason people have become to hate grenades is they put off using them when they could be using them at the same time. This can be done simply with no invincibility glitch, which would only make a difference in what you would get in doll and cutlass. Where not full 100 points is gained with using doll and cutlass at the near death stage without invulnerability. Is killing Darkhart super fast, well is killing something 5 different times/skills really any faster for likely not even full 100 point gains? This here the change I feel we got with hex shot eliminated, it converted staff and grenade at a certain point from a multiple creature build to a single. When killing soldiers reaches a point you aren't really getting 100 rep for them all, its getting near time to convert over. |
Poison Elf, I must respectfully disagree (at least, with the parts of that I understood.) Cutlass remains trivial to master last, in Beckett's Quarry. Grenades are essentially useless in Tormenta Cave because of the ammo-run issues. That's what makes Padres beach the only realistic place to master grenades now. Waiting until level 40 to master grenades, means most things on Padres beach will be green or gray for you, so you get the hardest task with the least return. Better instead, to get grenades completely out of the way first.
|
In essence you are agreeing , but in a slight different order. Tormenta has been for the most part taken out of the picture. Doing grenades with others and darkhart, just a different approach. Basically same place different step. Either way, the boss will not turn gray on you 40 or not.
Difference I see is doing all skills at once, on Darkhart. |
Oh, OK. Yes, last few times I've done serious levelling (especially on grenades,) I definitely did throw in TAUNT, CURSE and THROW DIRT after every 5 or 10 'nades. But the focus was on levelling 'nades. Same thing to a lesser extent, for pistol and staff.
On the beach, no the boss doesn't turn gray. But the gypsies and grenadiers that I like to roll in with him, do. Pretty inefficient. |
With all my pirates I've mastered nades as soon as I got them
Therefore I have no basis to argue otherwise but I can say it obviously appears much easier to me to get them out of the way early if for no other reason than to enjoy the passive skills they offer.
Btw, it is still best imo to just get the rep @ either KH or Pads beach and then hit Darkheart or crew up and bring ur pocket pirate/healer to tormenta to level, earn crew points and tp back and forth for ammo runs (a cinch with ur trusty pocket pirate - not back pocket though. I killed two good pirates that way when I sat down) |
