DirectX 9 looking blocky

Title says it all really. one day I was just curious what it would look like with DirectX 9 and it's HORRIBLY blocky - all except for my own character. when I try to switch to the default graphics (open GL), my tattoo goes whack (several of them all over me), and ships' hulls are pure black. And it's still blocky!
What do I do?

Well my first idea would be to do the ole... update your video drivers line.

Never seen DirectX9 looking real bad persay.. not like that anyhow.

But have seen some unusual differences.

Switch to OpenGL and clear your cache folder? Not sure, but it sounds like a different problem, than I've seen reported here on POF. Failing that, try live support.

What about DirectX8? See if that one works.

Cataractus 02-25-2009 10:01 PM

Clearing the cache doesn't work, and I've tried directx 8 before. Really it's the same thing except it's hard to play poker cuz the cards are blank.:piratewheelgo2::degen:

Lol sounds like a computer issue because i use Directx9 and it works fine.

Cataractus 03-01-2009 06:35 PM

it isn't that it doesn't work - it's just bad graphics. It works fine.

Dr. Zeppers 03-01-2009 07:00 PM

DirectX9 doesnt reflect bad graphics either, and usually performs better. Gonna have to side with Chris on that.

I have seen no real visual difference between the available settings, only performance issues.

I only use OpenGL because my screenshot ability works better, otherwise id use DirectX9 all the time.
