The movie vs the game?
 

Ok so I know this has been asked like a thousand times. so if anyone would be willing to offer a link or hint to where to find out I'd appreciate it, but it really has been bugging me ever since I started playing PotC. How (if at all) does the game fit into the movie storyline? I'm not giving any spoilers here, but not one of the main characters in the game (with the possible exception of Swan) is where they were at the end of the movies.. just curious about this. lol

i was thinking somewhere between 2nd and 3rd... that's my hypothesis.

Hmmmmm......hard to say. IMO it's a combination of things with a new twist.

I have heard that it was put into beta before the first one then......
Was out of beta when they were filming the second movie. I also have heard that the people at POTCO do not update alot, and tend to let the game stay the same. I also know that you do not see some of the characters in the movie that you see in the game. You also do not see some people in the game that you see in the movie lol. Do you agree?

Like other things relating to movies->games, games->movies, books->movies... I believe it's just loosely based on the movie.

I feel its loosely based on the first film primarily. It has to be more rigid since its a game and certain rules have to remain in place.

As others have said, I think it's loosely based on the game.

A few things from the movies have been integrated into the game. Some main characters from the movies like, Captain Jack and Barbossa are in the game. The only thing "storyline" related in the game is getting back the Black Pearl and even that isn't entirely acurate.

As the game expands and gets older you can expect more movie related things in the game.

The second and third have no space between them available, what with the loss of Jack and all. Before the first, collectively, there was little connection with Will and Elizabeth, and none at all with Jack. After the third, Will would be captain of the Dutchman, and Elizabeth would no longer be living in a Governor's mansion, as well as being a Pirate Lord. It can be placed between the first and second because there is blank space there. It's sort of like historical fiction of the second sort: anything unknown in terms of events, namely when there is a gap between events, is fair to be made up.

Some other things include stufff like Barbossa and the clues on PiratesOnline that say things like he "...knows some things that only a dead man can know," leaving me to conclude he's somewhat dead.

It's a time distortion i tell you! If it takes place between the 1st movie and the 2nd movie, why does Elizabeth Swan make an appearence as one of the nine rouges/pirate lords? She becomes one in the third movie. Before the 1st movie seems a bit stiff for me. If it was before the 1st movie, we would have to be recapturing the Black Pearl from Barbossa, not the Navy! it's a time distortion i tell you! :o Run! Run while you can!! :o

it is between the 1st and 2nd because beckett is alive, barbossa is alive ( probably due to Tia ), the black pearl is not under barbossa, jack is alive, elizabeth i think is not a pirate lord, davy jones hasnt come for jack's debt

also thought its between first and second and a bit at the second for the fact that everybody knows barbossa is alive and he is not all to hatted by jack so its complicated

and ravens cove is to give level 30-50s something cool to do...

now i must make my christmas list :D
