Bad account ID or password

So, I have been playing Pirates on test a lot recently, and today, when trying to get on, all I got was a "Bad account or ID" message. So I thought that I was just kicked out of test for some reason. So I went to the regular server, and I got the same message! Has this happened to any other pirates out there? What did you do about it? I hope this is not the same thing that happened to me in VMK, when my account was lost, and everything in it. Thanks for the help!

Have you called Disney's support line? They should be able to tell you anything that's wrong with your account.

Check your system date, if the system date gets thrown off for whatever reasons, this will result in a password issue, as the security certificates on your machine arent valid for the date set (if its way off).

Other than that, its happened as a system wide issue in the past, maybe just a POTCO glitch... best of luck.

check your computer time and full date, make sure it's correct.

Thanks everybody, I chacked my computer's date and time, its correct. I contacted POTCO, and hope for a helpful e-mail.

oh yeah the same is happening right now, only the strange thing is that my other srever works while test doesn't. Could there be a difference?

TopazR 04-20-2009 01:14 AM

It seems I am experiencing this same issue. I can log into the site fine, I can log onto the Open servers fine, I just can't log into Test. I did submit a bug report and even went on the Live Chat - all so far to no avail. I will say the person I spoke to on Live Chat was genuinely helpful and just as puzzled as I was. His ultimate recommendation was to submit a bug report, and when I told him I had already done so asked that I just be patient while the developers look into the bug report. My system date/time are correct, I've checked for Windows updates, restarted the computer, and still no go. At this point I have no choice but to wait and see if they get back to me.

Nice to see we are in the same boat :ship:. I have all of those same issues, but I can still log on the site like you. One diffrence is that I can't get on either server, which means I can't play at all. Keep me posted!

EDIT: Scratch that, I can play on open, but not test. I really only play on test, though. So this makes me upset.

Same here, its happening to me as well

But I messaged one guy over tech support and found out this: Me is who I am and Chue is the tech support person
SERVER:Customer is waiting for Response...
CHUE:Hello Me
Me:hi
Me:is there an issue with the test server?
CHUE:I am sorry to hear that you're having login issues with the Test Server. Currently, we are not experiencing any issues with the Test Server.
Me: thats weird. There is a fansite for the pirates of the caribbean game and there are others that are having the same problem of getting on. They enter their info right and it comes up saying bad account ID and password. I called in a few moments ago and they couldn't help
CHUE:I am sorry to hear that and we've noticed that a lot of our long time Test Server users could no longer log into Test.
Me: I been a member of the test when the game was in the begining stages, yesterday it worked just fine and this morning around 8am Eastern time it wouldn't let me in
Me:I tried reseting my password and that didn't work
CHUE:I am sorry to say that due to recent changes to the Test Server Access, your account will need to be an Unlimited Access account to maintain your Test Server access.
Me: even if we were there before the main game opened in the open server? when it was beta stages?
CHUE:Even if you had Test Server access before, these new recent changes affects all Test Server accounts.
CHUE:I am sorry for the inconvenience but these new changes are out of my control.
Me:ok, thanks for telling me this. I never got an email or anything telling me about the new rules. My parents don't want to pay for the game so the test server was my only chance of playing the full game and send in bug reports when needed.
CHUE:Before I let you go, is there anything else that I can do for you?
Me:no, not at all. I just wanted to know why my account wasn't working. it just said bad id and or password, and both were correct. So now I know why thanks
CHUE:You're welcome, and thank you for choosing Pirates Online Chat support. Have a great day!
SERVER:Me has closed the chat Session

Thanks for that information, Fillyteen. I just started playing test, and now I can't anymore. Just my luck. I have bad luck with Disney games, first VMK, now this. I was a faithfull player since beta, gave long, detailed descriptions of every bug I encountered, even small ones. I remember the first day I received my pirates beta code in my e-mail, I rushed to the site to download it, played it all night, and entered over 20 bugs that night. I even recently sent them a thank you letter, for creating this great game and to tell them how quickly it is progressing. I know I really shouldn't get test for free while others have to pay, but I beleive that it is a privilage I desereved. No, I am not mad at POTCO, they need to make money. Though I now they have many other active bug reporters, I think they just lost a good one. Anyway, sorry for the off topic. Sorry for anybody else who who was stripped of this privilage. Good winds to all, maties.

(By the way, if this sounded mean to POTCO, or like I was flamming them, I was not. I am not mad at them or their actions, I just think they made a bad decision.)

And thanks again, Filly, on letting me know what was happening.

Dr. Zeppers 04-21-2009 11:34 PM

They actually did post an announcement on in their newsletter, and on the news on their official site im pretty sure, but most figured it applied to the new beta testers they were inviting in.

I can see the reasons in part, as it helps them to weed out the less active players, at least those whose accounts were somewhat deadwood.

They should have likely looked at account usage in making such decision, or just switch the accounts to "basic" accounts, and let those not paying test as "basic" players.

An email notification of sorts would have been nice as well.

Fillyteen 04-22-2009 12:06 AM

Your welcome Oswald and others who are just reading what I found out. It does stink for some. Even though I been very active.

There are some who are probably nonactive and should have been deleted from test to make room for other testers. But thoose that been there since the begining and are active through today, well I'm one of those players. I'm just glad to find out why it was bad id or password when I tried to log in

Just to be clear, that is what I meant when I said deadwood. Not referring to those active in test that dont have paid accounts ;)

I have a few friends that played test similarly, and have only basic open accounts. I think they are taking the 'easy' road though in dispensing of alot of test accounts. And the sign up process they give for test is a bit silly also. Unless recently changed, you could sign into test with your regular account information if you were lucky enough to find the test launcher software.

How do you have to sign in now?

They offer an enrollment process for Test access on the official site now.

A few months ago, the very briefy (the news was removed in a matter of hours as if a mistake had been made) announced that test server was open to all, and gave a link for the test launcher.

Having read this, because POF members are quick to notice and post here, I downloaded the TEST software and I was able to create a test account/pirate.

Now as I said that offer had been posted for only a brief few hours, but appeared to remain in effect (unadvertised for the last few months) so anyone that had an open account could download the Test Launcher and access test on the same level their open accounts were, meaning, unlimited on open.. unlimited on test.. Basic on open... basic on test...

I have never been "invited". I still have my unlimited test account (using my unlimited open username/pass), I just checked. I also have two linked Basic accounts, which I can still log into on Test, so im a little wary of the answer you were given. It has a ring of truth to it, but I wonder why my 'basic' accounts can still log into test...
