Why would anyone want to buy an account? Setting up an account is free.

The only reason someone would want to buy an account is to get their hands on a FOUNDER badge. And: Anyone who would buy Founder status, is LOW!!!

I agree with you. But why wouldn't some kid want to buy a Founder account when so much is made of them. The new blurb yesterday mentions "Founder's Brethren and other pirates...". No offence meant to my Founder friends, but that coin means diddly to me. However, it appears Disney is making it into a class/caste system where there are GM Hosts, Founders, and then everybody else. It really is quite annoying. It isn't the coin that makes the pirate, it's the player. Honestly, if they're going down the class/caste path, then they need to add more types of classes/castes and become another WoW.

Not to mention the flag they sent for the one year thing. I have been playing for over a year now. Where is my flag?

When you register for free you are a "basic member", after so long you will have to pay for it. When you start paying, you become known as an "unlimited member"-Become an unlimited member!

Geez take the time to build up a pirate. It's not that hard really. Buying an account, even if you could, wouldn't net you any value unless you really really wanted that blackskull bandana.
