Should I buy WoW now?

Hey Guys! :dancetl6:

I'm thinking of buying WoW. I'm getting a gaming laptop so tech requirements shouldn't be a problem, and I've played the game before and I liked it. Still, I have reservations about buying the game, because I feel like its been out for some time now, and I'm worried that if I get it, the only people playing it will be high levels.

Is it worth my money to buy the game now, when its sort of losing its popularity? Or should I just stick with PotCO and LotRO? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Well, I just started playing WoW recently and ya its very fun game. you do see high level players, but they most hang around one of the major towns, but when you start out you really only see low level players. Ive never played LotRO, so i have no idea how WoW compares with it. WoW against PotCO, its alot better, I think.(I will be going back to PotCO when it reopens). And is it worth buying, of course. It will only be like twenty dollars, and it comes with a 30 days of play. In the end you got a month to try it out, and if its not for you go back to LotRO or PotCO.

PS. If anyone plays WoW, look me up. My Realm is Exodar, Im a level 9 undead mage by the name of Lerias, place of reisedents is the gallows inn tavern, loacated in Brill.

Awesome, thanks for the advice. I figure if I start WoW I'll get really involved in it, like mostly everyone else who plays it, so hopefully I can figure out a way to play PotCO as well. Either way, if I play WoW, I won't play LotRO, because thats just too much work to play both at the same time I think.

Lotro is very entertaining. Honestly, I think that Lotro is just as good as WoW, maybe even better... But I think that Potco has the most for you to do, I have never gotten bored on Potco. Overall, they're all very fun games!

I have to agree.

POTCO is in no category to compete with WoW.

I play/played wow. Currently not sure if im going to keep playing much longer myself.

heres some things to think of.

WoW can take a long time to level up to max.(some can do it in months. others take a year)
WoW will take a big turn at max level and focus mostly on raiding and grouping for harder fights and better gear(items, clothes, weapons, ect.) which can require up to 40 people.

WoW is highly addictive. By the time most people obtain a high level. All they want to do is raid. And raid successfuly. Lotta guild breakups over failed raids ect. Lotta people quit because its hard to get 25-40 people organized.

In the end if you enjoy a game because your a completionist WoW prolly isn't a game I would recomend.

A very small percentage of players have seen end game content in wow. Which usualy are the players so dedicated they will schedual life around the game. Instead of the otherway around.

However if your just looking for a more complex mmo to spend time with friends just relaxing, wow can be great.

Just depends what your looking for from a game.

I think its a good thing that it takes a long time to max, thats the way it should be keeps you occupied and never bored...cough unlike pirates.

You get bored leveling in WoW -- trust me. Played it for 2 years before Burning Crusade (a game expansion) came out. Had a lvl 60 troll rogue, and I've done the whole end game raiding scene. I've scheduled my life around a video game.

And one of the happiest days of my life was when I cancelled my account and shrugged off the addiction.

Do I have game addiction with PotCO? Sure...but I won't schedule my life around it.

WoW's a great game, just remember that there is a real world out there.

I too formerly played WoW and now play PotCO because it's easier to play casually.
WoW is a great game, but too easy to get addicted to.

Alffallen 03-03-2008 12:12 AM

Yeah for a long time it just worked with my schedual. Hence the decked out raiding mage in my sig.

Havn't played recently because the only thing left for me to do is more raids and collect gear slowly. (25 people 1 item you want. do the math =(. )

Its a great game for anyone with plenty of time. But most people that play will get addicted to the game to a pretty silly level. Not a bad game if you have the time to dedicate to it without losing touch with RL which most people seam to do once raiding comes into the picture.

Though if your just looking for a relax and have fun talking game. PoTCO is more what I would suggest. Every other person in wow is an elite wanna be. Maybe guild wars which is slightly more complex than PoTCO but not so much as wow.

Least now that I don't have time for wow I find myself having less trouble pulling myself away from games. Life and work to be done as has been stated.
