Pirate names?

When you make your pirate, do you give them a first AND last name, or just a first name, or is it optional?

Well, during Phase 1, they let us use one word names.

I think they will continue to do so too.

Thanks for the info, it just seemed like lots of people gave their pirates last names too, a little confusing.
