could just be the joys of beta testing. i switched to a high performance video card and it's been letting me stay in game longer but i still crash at random. last night was awful! i crashed about 20 times in half an hour and finally gave it up for the night.

Yeah, it seems to be a common event with other players, so you're not alone. Now, if only they could fix it sometime soon...

Do you have an ATI video card? I have 4 PC's- 3 with Nvidia cards (no crashing at sea, sail all day) and 1 with a Radeon that crashes as soon as I engage any other ship. After yesterday's patches though all crash randomly anywhere (?!).

You guys are acting like it's your computer's fault. Along with the beta of the game, their servers are also in beta. Your longevity in game depends on what's going on with the server, not your hardware... Just simply change servers when it's getting really- shutty downy. :h-face:

This might be way off, but it seems to me, whenever we are about to have a stress test event, they release a patch that kicks us off randomly and then brings everyone back on a different world.

I noticed this during last stress test. For example, if the first world was Ideal (green), after I got disconnected (and most everyone who was on, did) when I came back, I was in the second world, which was quiet before, but now was also Ideal (green).

So it seems they might do this, to test each of their servers to see how it handles the load.

Again, just my observations. Because I don't crash much after stress test and during the week.

Sometimes it's not even your computer's fault. I think half of the time ( or even more) it's their fault. It's still in beta after all, and we can still expect it to get a bug or two every now and then.

I noticed a LOT of people have been disconnecting and then coming back on, So, I'm guessing it's mainly their problem. I don't usually crash much, but when I do, I go back to the same district and usually find the whole place barren, but after a few minutes it's populated again.
