Tortuga Invasions & New Game Updates Now LIVE! December 10, 2009

Several new features and improvements (including many bug fixes) have just been added to Pirates Online! The Pirates Online Crew is still hard at work and more new features are coming soon.For now check out these great new additions to Pirates Online:

• Jolly Roger Invades Tortuga. Jolly Roger has set his sights on Tortuga! Pirates must now stop his Undead Army from invading Tortuga and capturing Captain Jack Sparrow.
• Ships and Sailing Improvements. Depending on your graphics settings you could see a boost in performance while at sea as well as small changes to ship design and sail animations.
• New Lighting and Fog System. Realistic atmosphere makes the Caribbean feel more alive than ever before.
• Holiday Surprises! Caribbean townsfolk are ready to celebrate the Winter Holiday in a variety of ways, explore the local towns starting December 17, 2009 to see all the surprises.

i wonder what they mean by holiday surprises? Hopefully new weapons and new clothing and the new loot and inventory system? :/

Nope, just decorations. If it were new content, it would have been on Test by now. Besides, adding new quests during times when invasions are taking place kinda counteracts the invasions themselves.

Je suis miffed. That be French (kinda). I like the changes (lightning, ships) but it's not really, content.

Ditto for the invasions. I'm kind of invasioned out.

What about a newe sstory Chapter? THAT wouldd be neat-O!

Ok I only had time to check it out for a few minutes and here is my experience:
1. Took me 3 tries to log on after the update. Kept getting stuck on some screen that told me how to move me pirate ( also when I logged off)
2. On low graphics, the ships are completely stiff on the water. The old asteroids game was more animated.
3. ON high graphics, I got my animated sails and ocean back. However, it took around 10 seconds for an enemy ship to disappear from radar after sinking it (very annoying) and there doesn't appear to be any sound effects when the enemy ship sinks - at least I didn't hear any.

not too happy at the moment.

Was there ANY Tortuga invasion today?
I never saw one, and left my pirate online all day just to see.
They just went into maintenance mode yet again, maybe the janitor there on Buena Vista forgot to empty the waste bin.
