Okay I want to get Open Chat, I have the parental account of course since I am an adult... when I go to change my account community settings to Open chat... there is no box that I can check :( Am I doomed to have to deal with Speed Chat Plus? If anyone can help me I would be very thankful. But in the mean time I am going to contact Disney and ask :)

If you call Disney's Pirates phone line (see the help page on PiratesOnline.com, I don't think I can post the actual phone number here.) then you should be able to speak with someone who can get your chat straightened out.

Yay! I was able to contact Pirates Online :) and they fixed it for me! YAY I have Open Chat :)

No, you start in pirates with just plain speedchat, which is the boxed phrases you pick from. You can also set your account for speedchat plus, in which case you won't see red words but can type in chat. (In Pixie Hollow if you don't have speedchat plus you don't see it either, you just see stars. Dunno if that's true of Pirates too.) Open chat is the top of the scale for D chat. Underage players must have parent approval for both speedchat plus and open chat. So, nope, not everyone has it.
