Test Release Notes - March 25th 2010

Release Notes - March 25, 2010
  • El Patron's Lost Weapons have been found!
  • Hundreds of new weapon items can now be discovered in-game.
  • Enemies and ships now drop loot containers, which contain a variety of treasure.
  • Sailing Items can be found in loot containers, which can help improve your sailing skills.
  • New skills can be found on some of these new weapons. These skills can only be used when the weapons are being used. There are also two new types of skills:
  • Break Attacks - Powerful special attacks that can be used when you are in a tough battle. These skills only recharge when you take damage. Completing a Combo Attack also helps recharge a Break Attack.
  • Defense Skills - These skills protect the player by automatically blocking incoming attacks. Defense skills recharge normally and cannot be triggered manually by the player.
  • Pirates now have 4 Weapon Slots, so you can choose what weapons you have equipped.
  • Pirates now have 1 Sailing Item Slot, which gives the pirate bonuses while sailing or using cannons.
  • Some new items are also available in stores for purchase.
  • Pirates can now change their clothes, tattoos and jewelry without having to visit stores.

Known Issues - March 25, 2010
  • Mac users are unable to log into the Test Servers. We're working to resolve this soon.
  • Crash may occur when collecting an item and placing it in a slot that already has an item. Work Around: Use the right-mouse button to collect items or make sure a slot is empty when plundering items.
  • During the Barbossa pistol tutorial, you may not be able to shoot the monkey. You may press 'Esc' to continue with the tutorial.
  • Some Spanish and French Undead may have weird motion trails on their weapons.

I have a question for the Testers.

How does the new weapon system really work? Is the old F1-F6 system gone?

Now the whole weapon drop.

Do we get to keep all of our weapons but we can add some more? Are we going to get repeated weapons? Do levels restrict some weapons?

Now yet another question.

How is this new set of skills going to affect the current skills a pirate might have? How about the skill points, are going to have relocate points?

Thanks!

The F1-F6 system is gone. It's now just F1-F4, with the weapons you want to have there. There is an inventory slot that you go to in the sea chest and you place what you want in the spaces from the choices you have from weapons drops.

You can keep the weapons you currently have, and can add more. There are repeated weapons because I currently have two flintlock pistols. There are level restrictions on some weapons. For instance, I have a bayonet I think it is that requires level 7 pistol.

I'm not sure about the skills, you would have to ask someone else. Hope this helped!

*(X)= number of skill points

For eg, in my skill points allocated before the update for cutlass was

Old Combo:
(1) Hack, (1)Slash, (2)Cleave, (3)Flourish, (3)Thrust.

The combo for a new sword that you might have picked up will stil have the same number of moves in a combo, so therefore the skill points stay.

(1) Chop, (1) Roundhouse, (2)Spin Cut, (3) Reverse Spin Cut, (3) Jumping Slash

And you get to keep all the weapons you ever had: i had my rusty cutlass, my first dolly, my single shot pistol and also al the upgraded weapons from weapon quest.

Any repeated or unwanted weapons can be sold for gold. Gold seems to add up fast this way as some of the clothing and weps go for a good amount. Yes your points seem to stay in the same spot and fit into any new weps attack bar. The broad sword that he has shown the skill list for above attacks anybody near you its pretty cool and has it own unique animation. Also some weps have a added attack point like +1 on thrust that comes with them but may have a lvl req to use. For people like me who play with the arrow keys and the mouse mostly ( A habbit from another game ) the weps are actually easier to access as you just click on the icon in the lower right corner instead of using the # keys

So Far I have only picked up Cutlasses, and one broad sword. I did not however get to use them all, and the broadsword was the main one I couldn't use. It does however explain that broadswords can attack enemies in a wider range, so multiple enemy attacking is its main benefit. I will continue to try and find more weapons and post more names.

The system is rather advanced, there are both loot back, chests, and probably even more objest to get items out of. It looks very detailed, but sadly nobody cannot hold any items at the moment, so looks can be deceiving.

But, So Far I have Found these Weapons:

Sword;

Worn Cutlass-One bit stronger than the Rusty Cutlass, but nothing special. found on an Undead Bandit.

Voodoo Cutlass-Rather strange new cutlass, it can be bought at any Gypsy, but heals you while you use it. At a nice price of 480.

Heavy Broadsword-Broadsword that has a good +1 sweep skill and 34 power bonus. Can be obtained from a Swamp Alligator.

Silver Sabre-Contains an ability called cleanse that removes all harmful status effects after a short period of time. This can be obtained from a Swamp Alligator.

Steel Cutlass-One of the original cutlasses, but now has the ability to increase damage a bit more. Picked off of a Cadet.

Sharp Cutlass-This is a cutlass that give a level 1 critical strike bonus. It can be fonud off of an Undead Pirate.

Heavy Cutlass-Can be used at level four, but has no special effects rather than a +1 hack bonus. Found off of a Grave Digger.

Tempered Cutlass-A powerful level 7 cutlass with +25 Power, it has a lvl. 2 increased chance to hit a critical strike, and a +1 sweep boost. Picked off of a Cadet.

Swabbies Cutlass-Can be used at level two, has a +1 Sweep Bonus. Found off of a Grave Digger.

Light Broadsword-Only Explains attacks can attack multiple enemies. Found off of a Grave Digger.

Range;

Flintlock Musket-Musket with 1 Barrel, but can shoot from farther distances than any regular pistol. Can be found on an Undead Bandit.

Rattler Pistol-Definite match for the name Rattler, this wicked gun packs in 13 attack, along with unlimited venom shot. It also has a venom shot boost. Sadly however, it only has a single shot frame. This weapon can be found off of an Undead Bandit.

Flintlock Pistol-Normal old weak pistol, nothing special.

Cruder Blunderbuss-A powerful gun that is only available at gun level 6. This gun can be picked off of a Cadet.

Voodoo;

Voodoo Doll-Just the Voodoo Doll, found on an Undead Bandit.

Cursed Staff-Oldest staff model, can be found on a Grave Digger.

Also, there are apparently onus Items such as sea charts to make you charge certain sea skills faster. You can loot this from any old enemy such as a cadet or grave digger.
Here is a list of found Sea Charts:

Navigation: Loads navigation types of movements faster, things such as Come About, Ramming Speed, and Full Sail.

Bad news, looks like the minor update just pushed to test reset the inventory system, and all testers are losing weapons, clothes and gold...

Buck Seahawk 03-28-2010 12:16 AM

The test server website says the game is currently unavailable or something like that. I hope that means they are fixing the bugs, and putting the weapons we had before back in our inventory!

Jamesvsthekraken 03-28-2010 02:26 AM

I think they are. :)

The Evil Will Mcbain 03-28-2010 02:47 AM

I hope so. You guys are almost making me feel sorry for you with all the sad stories XD

ex8404 03-28-2010 02:55 AM

It actually got pretty comical. my pirate was standing there in white boxers, boots and a hat. Then the boots and hat disappeared. No weapons, no pants, no gold. So what happens next?

Invasion Time!! Free Rusty Cutlasses all around. The plight of a tester I guess. :piratetongueor4: But I think I'll name my next pirate Rusty Cutlass.
