A Tale of Four Pirates
Jason Suncutter
We begin our story with the mighty, feared pirate, Jason Suncutter. Jason is rich beyond his wildest dreams, is one of the most powerful people in the Caribbean, and knows no man's laws. Yet, he is a troubled soul. Death awaits him. His dreams are haunted of the gallows, of the firing squad, of fire and destruction. He drowns his sorrows regularly, for he knows this; the Navy will find him and best him, or the EITC will have him assassinated, or a more nefarious death will await him. He has two things to look forward to: his brother, and his father's treasure. His baby brother had chosen a life of piracy. Jason has mixed emotions. He may end up dead, but at least he is no Navy soldier. Kleos Suncutter Kleos Suncutter is the younger brother of Jason. He has aspired to sail the seas, dominating all that stand before him. His father secretly told him that he was destined to sail the Seven Seas with his brother, and his brother's guild. Jason was never told of this. He told Jason that he was going to the Royal Naval Academy, but he knew his destiny. He was going to be a pirate, whether his brother liked it or not. Witchdoctor Dan Witchdoctor Dan is not his real name. He doesn't know his real name. No one does. He was jokingly called this by Jason, who rescued him from a beach on a scrappy little desert island. He had a part of a mast driven through his heart. Jason carried him to Cuba, where Macamo took him into his possession. Dan was never the same. He provides voodoo enchantments for anyone he trusts. That list is very short nowadays.... And finally... Merriwether Musketball Merriwether is a Naval Academy graduate, former Navy Dragoon, and dominator of lands. He saw the corruption and crookedness of the Navy, and launched a revolt. The motley crew of former officers and high ranking officials was soon slayed, leaving him alone to fend for himself. He knew how to fight, and implemented stealth to stay alive in the wilds. He was discovered on Rumrunner's Isle, near starvation, by Jason. Jason gave Merriwether some gold, and a ship. He then bid farewell to him, hoping to see him someday. After a while, he learned the art of the firearm and cannon and he became involved in the notorious pirate guild "Partners N Crime." Chapter 1: The Man, The Myth, The Legend Told by: Jason Suncutter They all say, Dead men tell no tales. If that was true, I wouldn't be speaking to you right now. I'm as good as dead. I'm being followed every time I touch dry land. When I cast off to sea, Navy ships can be spotted on the horizon, tailing me. They aren't going to sit idly by much longer. There is, however, something I can do to pass time. My father was a famed British privateer. Granted, he made a hefty amount of money before his betrayal. I know where it is. My father was no idiot, he knew that I would become a man of the sea, my brother too. He put the gold he plundered from the enemies of Britain on a small island, ridden with traps, beasts, and dangers; but there is one problem. Nobody knows where it is. I have to search for his only first mate, and indeed only surviving crew member, whom I faintly remember from all those days before the sail: Lord Tiberius Grim, rumored to be on his death bed. My guild would stand before the masts and rigging, chanting the motto in their head: "All for one and one for all!" I couldn't bear the fact of going on this quest with no assistance, so it was time to visit an old friend. The Witchdoctor. It had been awhile, I had heard that he was growing paranoid, not trusting anyone. I hoped he remembered me... Part 2 Told by: Witchdoctor Dan The swine. All they want is a little bit of help and assistance, then they betray you. The fools do not know that I know their plan. Yet, I could foresee myself at sea, helping someone. I coaxed a little bit more of the vision from my enchanted mind. I recognized the face of that captain... Jason? I haven't seen him in years. Could I trust him? Yes, I told myself I could. Just then, I heard a knock at the door of the hut. My visions never failed me, for Jason was at the door and many other rum-soaked, groggy, well-armed pirates stood behind him. I gestured them in. How could I refuse? He spoke, "Dan, how are you?" I said nothing. I wasted no breath unless I had something worth saying. He looked down at the rings on his finger. He spoke up, "W-we need help. C-could you locate something for us? My father's map, I've heard it was in the possession of a Lord Tiberius Grim. Have you heard of him in your travels?" I looked at him. He was nervous, I could see. I gestured for him to sit down. I took the seat opposite of him. I told him, "Yes, I've heard of this Grim fellow in my travels. I've even met him once. He's not in a good way. Sick, with the dysentery from the travelers of the Far East. I cannot tell you where he is, nor draw you a map." Jason looked disappointed. He asked, "Is there no way you can help?" I looked down at my chest and touched the scar over my heart. Without him I wouldn't be undead, but I wouldn't be alive either. He asked again, "Please? I know you know things only a dead man could know." I turned on my heels and looked at him. I said, "Yes, but I must come with you. Even I don't know where this place is, but the voodoo... It tells me. I must come with you if you want to get your treasure." He grinned. "I can arrange that. First class quarters for you, my old friend! COXSWAIN!" He said, calling for the quartermaster of the ship. A man arrived, dressed much nicer than the rest, but not as nice as Captain Suncutter. Jason told him, "Make a bed in the First Class cabin, we're having a guest on board." The coxswain said "Aye aye Cap'n!" and marched off. I just hope that this turns out better than the last time I helped someone... |
