This recent image I was shown that someone discovered and passed along. It was labeled Infamy and shows various land and sea ranks. I'm curious what this could mean...

Is this an SvS / PvP innovation to show how you're doing? Or is this for something completely different.

Those look a lot like the symbols for each rank in multiplayer in the more recent Halo games and Call of Duty. I really hope that this has to do with PvP! And since it's sea (svs) and LAND, than maybe we'll be getting a nice little land pvp area. That would be awesome! Nice find!

This picture is from the wiki. These are probably ranks on how infamous you are, since the GUI picture in the phase files is labeled infamy...

Wow that is really cool! Ranks for SvS? That means I might have to actually do SvS haha.....

I think it would be nice to get Rep for doing PvP and SvS. Perhaps these are a new, level up system for SvS and PvP.

To me, SvS is just helping a tyrannical loser (Spanish or french) kill pirates like us and take over the Caribbean. you dont even make a profit, you spend much more money on ammo then making money. it chews you up and spits you out.

We do it for fun, mate. Most people have max gold anyways so it doesn't matter.

Im thinking red are pvp and blue svs look at the symbols blue has anchors red has like line of officers and stuff makes sense huh.

Could be upgrades you can get. Like, if you sink 5 ships in a row you can choose one, and it will, say, make broadsides recharge faster. After 10 ships in a row you get another that increases broadsided damage. At 15 one that increases speed, and so on. Above your ship's name it would show which one's you have, so your opponents know what they are up against.... but I have no idea how that would work in PvP.

I'm thinking something like prestige for CoD, in which you give up everything for a special icon and added benefits. Or, they could be like achievements for the Xbox and Steam games, or Trophies for PS3 games. But the SvS and PvP ranks seem the most likely culprit, seeing as they are different looking and different colors. Or perhaps SvS and PvP skills. Any would be nice.

Perhaps they are "Kill Streaks" that would make sense in PvP, would it not?

I hope that it is some type of ranking system. Here's how I would want it to be: In SvS and PvP you will not get pirate rep, instead, you'd get pirate "Infamy" points per sink/kill. As you level, you'll get a new icon to show that you are on that level, and so other players can see it. Maybe even new skills? :D unlikely, but possible.

I like it machazzard like telling other people of your strength like how notorious u are cool
