Gunner's Quest For Rum...idiotic Question

In Gunner's little monologue, he mentioned something to the effect of "99 Bottles of Rum on the Wall"....I've gotten about seven bottles for him so far...he Really doesn't want 99...does he????

If so, I think this quest may drive me bonkers.

The worst part so far is having to kill off Soldiers in Port Royal, then having to brave the waters back to his stinkin island (there always seems to be a ton of lev 25+ war ships just off the coast)

If I really need 99 bottles for the bugger, I need to spend some serious time leveling up my ship before completing this one...

Anyone?

Thanks!

The quest doesn't make you get each one individually, a lot of the subquests will give you either 5 or 10 bottles.

Yeah.... you kinda gather some of them in groups but I rated this the second most annoying quest ;) and i've done them all so far. I think you pay for 60 of them and then there are a lot of other random rums...like Voodoo rum, skellie rum, 25 year old rum...etc etc... so yeah you do fetch a lot of rum it might actually add up to 99 but I never kept track :( But there is definitely a lot of rum fetching. You can work and wait until you're level 23 and then you'll get the teleport for it :) Or you can just keep barreling through it. I barreled through it and finished the quest before i ever got the teleport for it :(

I lost track too, but I'm pretty sure you had to get him 99 bottles, although it seemed like more with all the running back and forth and getting sunk within sight of Padres del Fuego. You didn't have to get them all one at a time, but that's of little comfort when you get blown up on the way back half the time (at least you don't lose the quest items when you get sunk - just your plunder).\

If you think this one is frustrating, wait til you get to the grenade quest!!! You'll be wanting some of that rum for yourself:stars:

Thanks mates!

Well, looks like I really need to spend a day or two just sailing and gaining pts. Until i get TP rights to Padres....

99 bottles of Rum on the wall, 99 bottles of Rum, take one down, pass it around,
98 bottles of rum on the wall....

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

DrStinglock 11-19-2007 07:53 AM

Ahh, those TP rights to Padres...

Figgyfan 12-06-2007 05:13 PM

where is the dig spot in Padres for the first task on Gunner's Rum?

Sarah 12-06-2007 06:27 PM

If I remember correctly, the first dig spot was by the Gypsy with the cart...Bel or Bev something is her name. It may have been the other gypsy though, which is the one near a portico looking structure. Pretty sure it's one of the gypsy's though....sorry, that was a lame answer :)

OutlawZ 12-06-2007 08:15 PM

Shouldn't you be dealing with the Gypsy (Bev?) on Del Fuego first?

I am sure I got the teleport for del Fuego just before I started the Rum quests
and that makes things a lot easier!

...or am I blabbering on about something different here? LOL

The teleport quest is separate from the main story quest.

Unless I am mistaken, they are not linked to prevent one from being done before the other.

That said, there are 2 spots to dig near Gunner's shack. One is in front of the entrance to Beckett's quarry, the other is in the corner by the entrance to the fort. And, of course, there is the spot near Romany Bev, under the awning area just next to her.

Eliza Shipwrecker 12-06-2007 08:51 PM

They are separate quests. Gunner is part of the story quest, and TP to PDF is a quest you are offered once you reach lvl 23. It would have made my life easier if I'd had TP before I started with Gunner, but I wasn't high enough level at the time. Although you have to do a ton of sailing for the Gunner quest anyway, so it wasn't that bad.

OutlawZ 12-06-2007 11:51 PM

right....well I guess I reached level 23 before the Gunner quest then
and that's how I got the teleport for del Fuego.

Thats too bad for someone on that quest,
because it definately made the quest go a little quicker.

Sorry, I couldn't help.

Yup...I'm sure the dig spot in question was right near Bev.

Frankly, they made this game way too easy to level up in and I'd say they should raise the level of TP to all of the islands until after most have already finished the quest line there. What fun is it leveling up and maxing your character in one month anyway?

Figgyfan 12-07-2007 06:23 PM

Thanks for the help everyone...to be specific if others need this guide, It was for the fish rum and it was located in the dig spot right by Valentina the PDF gypsy under the awning.

I agree! I haven't mastered my character... yet. I would have if I didn't have to wait 3 weeks to finish my quest (Black Pearl)... and still waiting now...

The game is fun, but too short! Good grief.
