I'm loving the Black Pearl in the mountains pic.....

Guess they ain't fixed that yet then :-/

So when you pay to play this is as far as you can go right now? With the players all frantically trying to get back to their former levels they will be at this point in no time. Won't people start yelling and dropping the pay game if they can't do anything more?

I did the Boss Battle. You just have to kill the bridges, not even the little Light Frigates that attack you. Then go ahead and kill the goliath. The only cannon shot that can hurt it (unless you find a sweet spot) is the lightning bolt.

Zhalin 11-20-2007 09:06 PM

For those who have completed it...what sailing level were you at?

And do you NEED to have a high cannon level to finish the boss battle?

ScurvyCory 11-20-2007 10:19 PM

Here's what I did...

When you first arrive on the Black Pearl, start to steer it towards the Light Frigates in the background. The gameplay will stop, and a movie will begin. It shows the 4 Light Frigates cornering you in. They all fire at the same time, so you have a limited ammount of time to sink them with the small cannons. ( You wont use Broadside in the Boss Battle ) They may cause you to get to red health on the Black Pearl. But I advise you have Lightning or Firebrand. ( These Light Frigates are the only thing that can harm you for now. ) After you destroy the Light Frigates, you will have to position yourself where you can hit the first 3 Bridges. (It will take a LLLOOONNNGGG time to do them all.) After the first 3 are dead, sail through until you see the next 2. Sink them, then move on to the next 2, and so on until they are all dead. ( Feel free to use your high-powered cannon ammo, you wont use any cannons on the Goliath. ) Finally you get to the Goliath. It starts to fire on you, but it doesn't do any damage. ( It's bugged for right now I believe. ) The only way to harm it is to ram it. The sweet-spot is right between the Helm and where the small cannons begin. It will take about 4-5 rams if you have it to level 3. ( I had mine there, so I only did it with that. ) It will take about 5-10 minutes to sink it.

After you have sunk the Goliath and got the Black Pearl back, you will probably have a black screen for a while. When it finally goes away, you'll be in Tortuga. Your quest will be to return to Captain Jack Sparrow in the Faithful Bride bar. When you walk in, a movie will begin. Jack will say something like " Good job! " in his own words. Then he'll talk about the Headstone on Padres Del Fuego. ( The next main Story Quest. ) In the movie, it will appear he gives you a bag of gold, but don't be thinking it's real- because it's not. The final part is where he has you go to Valentina the Gypsy on Padres Del Fuego. There is nothing else after that for right now, so congratulations! You just beat the Black Pearl Story Quest!

Speedway Master 11-20-2007 10:31 PM

Yeah, what i did to beat the boss battle is defeat a light frigate with firebrand, then level up and used the skill point on lightning bolt, used the lightning bolt to pwn the other 3 light frigates, defeat the drawbridges (takes forever), then sink the goliath with ramming. All this takes like an hour alone. If you don't have ramming speed, you're out of luck.

Nice pics matey...I am only 20 odd % finished with the black pearl quest. SAD!

larkija 12-21-2007 01:00 AM

Cool! You can sail the Black Pearl? I didn't know that. (and I thought Goliath was a big snake or somethin'...)

PirateSavvy 12-21-2007 06:13 AM

How many skill points do you need on Ramming Speed?

I only had 3 on my ram, and it worked fine... Only a couple of minutes.
