Diary of Hookshot

A lot of people know me as the GM of Eternal Warlordz, and an active POForums user. But what they don't know is what they've never asked. I love to write. I've seen Davy Fireskull and Delmaria Darkskull write their legacies to the forums. Now it's my turn.

I will be posting a lot of entries to the diary of Hookshot. So please keep checking back for more. ALSO The entries may be a bit long, so please tell me if I'm boring you do death, because I need some criticism. All good writers do. So here we go.

BACKGROUND

Hookshot is the blood son of Captain Hook himself. In the story of Peter Pan, what you don't hear is the story of a beautiful woman named Constantine. After Captain Hook of Neverland had nothing left, he found this beautiful woman, and married her. Their first and only child's name was after his own fathers. He was born on the 1st of May, 1770. it is now 1790 and Hookshot is a grown man in his 20's. When he left the ship of his father to join a crew of pirates, his Father made a promise to not let him in the family again. This is his story.

Aboard the ship of Demented Souls
Evening

Dear Diary,
My first entry will be one of many. I guess I'll start by talking about the morning of today. It was me Twentieth birthday, and it has been the worst of twenty. Times be hard, but we as a crew will pull through it. As the First Mate on the ship of Demented Souls, I have realized now the power I have over the crew. Without me, the crew would be clueless. In fact I realize now that if I were to stay back with Father, I would have avoided all of the happenings of today. As I arose from my bed, I felt the floor beneath the quarters shake. I haven't felt that kind of shake in a long time. As I went outside to see what had happened, I then realized we were under attack. As a leader you would think I would have known what to do. But I was clueless. The ship attacking us was the Serenity, (A Naval boat that has been on our tail ever since port.) They wanted our boat at the depths. Men of the crew came to me asking what could be done. I gave no answer. Just looked onward into the growing smoke that arose form our ship. There was no other choice. We had to board the Naval ship. So I gathered my men, and we all fought for the protection of the crew. For the protection of the Ship. Then it soon became a battle for our own protection. We did come out victorious. But with a crew of thirty, only seven made it out.

"We could have all died, and now the blood of 23 men is on your hands," said an angry skipper. What have I done? Did I not learn from the mistakes of my father? Could I have made this big of a mistake? I needed help, but nobody answered. To think that all of this has happened in one day is incredible. I would have never guessed. I couldn't have ever imagined. But here I am. Lying on the bed, writing in a journal... Cowering as the remainder of the crew sails us home. What kind of man am I? What kind of scoundrel have I become?

It sounds more like a fantasy story, meaning, not entailing actual POTCO pirates if you ask me. xD But we'll see what goes on as the story progresses.

Open Waters

Dear Diary,
As I sail onward towards the unknown of what the world holds for the remaining 7, I can’t help but wonder why I wasn’t killed in the raid of our ship, a little over a week ago. Why wasn’t it me who was put out of his misery? Why were the others so lucky? I’ve had thoughts of just giving up. Rowing myself out and letting the crew be unburdened by me. it’s been a thought stuck in my mind for weeks. Now I know it must be done. Although I would be fine with leaving now, I would rather wait until port for my departure. It is only fair that these pirates of a once beautiful ship deserve better. The masts of the old Soul are fallen and burned. Only two remain standing, guiding our way to a place where we hope to find food, shelter, and rum. Oh, the taste of rum and how I miss it. I have gone on vittles for ne’er five days now. I’m becoming deprived.

I’ve been told that I have a memory better than most. Especially for one who drinks as much as I do. A man like me needs to forget the things he has done. I just can’t. I’ve done horrible things. I have the blood of more than twenty of my own crew and the captain being dead, it is hard for me to just forget these things. The support of my crew has helped me through these things.

James O’Malley, a scottish descendant of the famous viking Fergus O’Malley, was a true pirate. Never met an obstacle he couldn’t overcome. I am truly grateful for him.

Sven Martin, a newer swabby who just got out of the EITC’s newest project. He may be new, but the information he holds is crucial to our next swing at the Trading Company.

Brownfoote, that be a true pirate! With a bear’s brawn he can take down anything that comes his way. Very fortunate to have him along.

Nathaniel Butler is a slacker. If he got his land-lubbing self out helping us find our way home maybe we actually could.

Pearlie, Oh he is a real softy, but do not make him angry, for if you do he’ll give you a REAL reason to wear an eye patch!

William Dampier is a man of his word. A great man of integrity. If he says not to do something, you don’t do it. For WIlliam has gone to school, he knows how to reason!

And Finally, there is Galileo. We only call him that because his real name is Leonardo, but he is in the Galley so much, we just added it to his name. Makes a wicked sea urchin stew.

Well that’s the remainder of the crew. The ship was made for forty, not seven. It get’s lonely on open waters.

I like it so far! I also like how you describe the characters.
