I see more and more people experiencing "Driver Issues" with their systems, especially laptops. A couple years ago, I had the same issues with another game and found 3rd party drivers that fixed everything that was wrong. Since I am not having issues at this time, I have not tried them on my newer system, but if you are just getting more and more frusterated with the gameplay, you may want to try the 3rd Party Omega Drivers.
Since these are not designed by any of the hardware manufacturers, they are NOT supported if they create issues. You can easily roll back the drivers to the previous version if these do not work for you. May want to just have 1 or 2 people try them to begin with and see if it helps. Loot Hard! |
Chris, I believe we have the same laptop/vidcard.
Dell Inspiron E1705 w/ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 When I first started trying to play POTCO on my E1705 it played ok, but it always crashed on exit of the game. I submitted bug reports, and was told similarly to update my video drivers. I updated to the latest offered by Dell (I think dated 5/2007 or 8/2007, cant remember now). They made it so I could not sail or play half the game, so I reverted back to the previous (dated 3/14/2007), and lived with the crash on exit. When the updates first came out I had problems again, in that the game would crash everytime I went to sail. I updated the drivers again, but this did not help this time either, and again caused me more problems, so I reverted back to the original 3/14/2007 drivers. I even posted here, that I hoped POTCO fixed it because I was dead in the water on my end. The next day POTCO updated, and I have not had the problem again since, other than it still crashs when I exit the game... which I can live with. So, you may want to actually try a previous set of drivers for the video. Good luck. Zeppers Lvl40 http://pirates.teamofx.us |

I had one of the latest ATI Radeons.
My power supply stopped working. We took it out. We replaced it with a new one days later. We turned it on. The ATI Radeon caught on fire (From the inside of the chip thingy). I'm scared to play with ATI now. |
That is unfortunate. The developer used to be so on top fo the driver creation. I did not even look under the link to see if they were actually loaded yet. Well, I'll have to check back there off and on and see if it gets upddated.
In the meantime, since they are claiming it is an OpenGL issue, what about reverting to the DirectX settings? Loot Hard! |
