Economy or Computer Based?

Ok question is simple do you want potco to be more economy based of computer based

Economy Based meaning players can hold jobs and sell items to other players for money ect.

Computer Based meaning computer sell you everything

Economy would be an interesting game add. A lot more interesting that giving your money to nothing at all because your money goes to another player.

I think it would be a good idea to do what your referring as economy based.

I think some expansion would definately be in order... Which one of my 4 items do ya want ta buy?

I like the comp based. A few i\other sites I play (poker mostly) once you have a market for makin money, then you see farming. I didnt like that. Also what good would it do us with a 65K cap?

Davy 05-12-2008 10:33 PM

I'd like to see the cap raised and the game be economy based.

Angel 05-12-2008 10:38 PM

OK theoretically speaking....the caps raised, you open a shop for say ship customization parts. You have customers daily who drop their gold in your lap. Over time you have Millions of dabloons. What then? Is it a status symbol? "I'm a millionaire pirate!" Or you gonna now sell your gold to someone that wants to pay you real cash for it?

If the game takes this route, I wil definately leave.

very true never thought of it that way

Computer based, if it becomes economy based, people will write programs to automate farming. If it stays no trading, Disney will be able to control the economy, which ultimately is better than letting people do it. People will abuse it to the point that it isn't fun.

Bilgepump 05-13-2008 03:39 PM

Computer based.

As others have said, if you introduce trading, you open things up for the gold farmers.

Lucrecia Merlose 05-13-2008 04:29 PM

Though economy based is what drives many MMORPGS these days I do not feel it is necessary for this one. It definitely makes things more simple but I think that's what Disney was aiming for. Keeping it computer based keeps it gold farming free. It also keeps things a lot more casual. Besides, a REAL pirate would want to hold onto all their coin before they ever give it up to an heir ((alt)) which would undoubtedly happen if you introduce a trading feature. Twinking CAN be fun but it would take away the casual game play I enjoy here. Indeed I am two-sided here because there are times I do enjoy throwing myself into the market and trying to come out rich.

Me either Chris... I have to side with Angel's concept here.

Switch my vote towards computer based.

I had thought that the other option would help to extend the game, help it grow, but with some new perspective, I dont think it would.

I'd prefer things stay computer based - if I wanted to play an economy based game I'd go to a different game. I play POTCO and TT because they aren't that way.

Some very basic trading might be nice, or perhaps gifting rather than trading.

As you can tell, I don't care much for the more 'involved' games. ;)

The Shark 05-15-2008 09:54 PM

This is my first experience with this type of game but I like it the way it is. Besides, how does the economy feature work when someone who is selling goods needs to get supplies to sell. Where does one get the supplies to sell ship parts? I'm probably just complicating things. Maybe I'm just not getting it. I'm a pirate for crying out loud. I just want to slice, shoot, and blow up things and then take the spoils. Isn't that enough?

I'd like to see a mixture of the two. Perhaps a pre-determined price range for items, to reduce the likelihood of either people paying real money for in-game items or people selling rare items for exorbitantly high prices. Also, another consideration would be preventing direct in-game money transfers which would keep some of the farming out.
