Leadership?
 

It's my understanding that when you complete your black pearl quest you get this skill, I'm assuming one dot, my question is this, do you have to have a skill point available or do you still get it if you've spent all 25 of your points? also, if I saved 5 points could I drop them all on leadership once it opens up?

You do not have to have a skill point to get it. I'm not sure if you can use points to upgrade it later, but there are probably better ways to spend your sailing points.

There's no need to save points for leadership. Once you finish the boss battle, you get the skill, no points needed and you can't add any points to it. I personally really like the skill, comes in handy a lot.

What does leadership even do?

oh, ok hehe, you posted that while i was posting lol.

When you use the leadership skill, the other sailing skills recharge a lot faster. If i'm in a ship to ship battle, i fire broadsides, hit leadership, and about 2 seconds later i can fire broadsides again.

how fast does the leadership skill recharge?

Leadership takes a while to charge up. Also if you use leadership and your broadsides recharge faster, Once they are charged and you dont use them fast enough....when the leadership timer runs out it will revert back to where it would've been on the broadsides/other skills. So even though it was full for broadsides, once leadership expired, it might go back to recharging the last half again.
