Open fire?
 
What does 'Open fire' do?
I've unlocked it with one of my precious skill points, & so far, it has done absolutely nothing.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the benefits of this 'skill'?

I think it increases the damage of your cannoners Good when your braodsides are out.

Open fire is suppose to increase your crews cannon damage.

It works too. I recommend it. Remember it only works with crews, not with broadsides. But it really helps

Okay got it, that does sound pretty useful if you have a crew.
I was sort of regretting unlocking it.

Tobias, can you give us an idea of how much it helps? Is it very noticeable?

Im not Tobias, but in my experience it has done nearly 2x the damage it normally would have the short time its in effect (only have 1 point in it myself).

I would also note that it doesnt ALWAYS do 2x as much damage, circumstances, and timing, as alot of these skills seems to be key. I always make sure everything is recharged, and im ready to shoot, and click it a second before I fire.

I feel the same way as you Jeena. It just seems like I have to be more coordinated to use it effectively.

I dunno bout you guys, but I find it to reload rather fast. At one point, with skills like Leadership and the decent reload time (fast enough to probably charge between ships), I find it rather painless. The only thing is that I sometimes forget to activate it. Anyway, it's helpful for loot runs, not so much for rep runs.

Lots of variables but 2x is a good guestimate on average (thanks Zeppers :) ). Accuracy and damage go up even for low level crew, and the firing rate goes up too.
