should I use it all on thunder?
 

one more level till thunderbold for my cannon, and i haven't used any skill points since firebrand, should I use all 4 skill points on thunderbolt?

Im sure opinions will vary. I have left mine at 1 point for the duration, only pumped it up a bit when I was mastered and helping with boss battles.

I went all out on it because you can still get great rep by going after the sails, and the power's there if you need it. :)

I dumped 5 points into Thunderbolt as soon as I got it.

If I need the rep, I use round shot from far off, but sometimes you need to deal a lot of damage real fast.

My lightning is max'ed. When I'm in the mood to just get Cannon Rep... I'll park my ship somewhere... tag a far away ship with my lightning and finish it off with the round shot.

The lighting is very important for that Boss Battle... don't leave home without it.

My lightning is maxed. Its my strongest power in the cannon. I really like the thunderbolt so i yes use it all of thunder.

Lightning although one of the most effective cannon shots, is also one of the slowest reload/fire rates allowing only 1 shot per 'round' (second only to explosives in my experience).

Not sure at what level it becomes available, but I found the Rapid Reload skill to be quite helpful before I pumped up lightning. The primary skill improving firing rate is also helpful.

lightning comes at lvl 12

well i ma not at lighting yet but what i see is that alot of people think lighting is amazing because of skeleton ships but the skeleton ships always do more damage in my opinion but the liughting is good for destroying sails
