what is the auto repair glich?

ive never seen it? what does it do?

Dr. Zeppers 08-04-2008 02:01 AM

It was posted around here somewhere I believe.
Basically it keeps your ship repaired or at least under repair all the time, making it near, if not impossible to sink you.

So if your in SvS, shooting an enemy, seeing your shots do damage, yet the ship seems to not take any damage, well its probably autorepairing.

no.. cheats are when you edit packs. aka hacking :piratear:

captaindruidblade 08-04-2008 08:01 AM

Thanks!

someone other than me sees that moding files is the cheat not something that the game naturaly does

SpiritSkull 09-13-2008 12:06 AM

i know the glitch bc of a friend... its a secret in our guild but i dont cheat.. i keep to the rules and not auto repair.. if u badly wanna know glitch then u must wanna rub it in ur friends face sayin hahaha i beat u!! (really cheating)

SangrelX 09-13-2008 02:47 AM

some finer points

man oh man

the arguments are old -- its cheating ... its not cheating ... yes it is .. nuh uh its called glitching

ok listen lol

there is a fine line between cheats and glitches

Cheat = Making game do something its not supposed to or meant to do - that gives you an advantage over the other players (by means of file edits or glitch abuse)

Glitches = Making the Game do something its not meant to do or supposed to do that has no effect on others gameplay

so using so called glitches in Ship vs Ship is indeed Cheating!

but walking through a wall to get behind the bar is not cheating it doesnt effect peoples game play or give you some weird game advantage over the rest its just a glitch

---- Now Hacking is a Different Story
Hacking is NOT Packet Editing
Hacking can be done several ways some legal and some illegal it depends on the license of the game, its engine, files, etc..

but packet editing is not illegal by any means -- the law does not control what you allow your computer to send or receive

which means if i dont want my PC to send information from my pc to somewhere else I am well within my rights to edit that info out or block it

Packet editing is a Grey area

Now to be clear on something this game uses the Panda3d Game Engine developed by Disney - However Disney licensed the engine under a Modified BSD License

which also grants users rights to modify files and such to a certain extent - im not explaining it all fully here because its too much to type

Sorry to get off on a tangent but - i just get tired of people saying oh thats a hack or ohh its a glitch -- or ohh its nothing wrong its how the game works etc..

Now I dont Condone using unfair glitches or hacking - Unless ur pitting Glitch/Hack vs Someone else who is Glitching or Hacking (This applies to all games not just disney lol)

but in ship vs ship -- I am soooo sick and tired of seeing people auto-repairing or doing some other weird glitch - and they build a massive bounty up by cheating

well u better believe it - I will glitch and nail em to a wall
but I do have morals - I will make sure they are indeed cheating first before I drill em

u can flame me all u want for using glitches on the glitchers but I have had people actually thank me for helping them kill the one using glitches - then I either a. leave ship vs ship or b. turn the glitch off - get my crew and start winning

depends on if i wanna keep playing after having this cheater sink me tons of times
usually by the time I see they are for sure cheating im soo angry at em ill sink em and leave ship vs ship lol

either way thats my opinion and how I play the game - call me what u want but do onto others as they do onto you

Disney needs to FIX these major bugs once they do that - people will start to enjoy ship vs ship

later

Its a glitch and an unfair one at that.

Edward Edgemenace 09-13-2008 05:33 PM

Disney (the company affected by the cheaters) should consider legal actions against people cheating in SvS. SvS should have been the best part of the game, instead it is an embarrassment.

I know I don't "glitch against the glitchers" anymore. However, what remains of SvS is entirely unplayable. On the rare occasion where one finds a quiet server with a few people willing to play the game without cheating, a cheater will intrude within five minutes.

Seeing people who are able to turn their gun turrets 360 degrees is just pathetic.

Seeing people whose ships take no damage is just pathetic.

Seeing people whose shots sink my boat in ONE SHOT is just pathetic.

Seeing ships with repair-while sailing is pathetic.

Seeing ships with auto-repair is pathetic.

Seeing ships miss with ramming speed by more than ten boat lengths (but score a hit anyway) is just pathetic.

Seeing ships not take any damage at all when hit directly midships with ramming speed is just pathetic.

Not seeing enemy ships, is just pathetic.

Not seeing enemy ships on radar is just pathetic.

Not seeing a damage meter is just pathetic.

Seeing punks with no windcatcher outrun me (checked them on DxD) is just pathetic.

Seeing a war frigate partially glitch into the light sloop repair rock, is um, er, ahhh. Hmmm. Quixotic.

Dr. Zepper's miracle cure is the only thing that's worked for me, so far.

Dr. Zeppers 09-13-2008 06:17 PM

lol Dr. Zeppers almost sounds like a softdrink.

A quick note about a posters reference to packet editing.
This I would consider to fall along the same lines a glitching.
If done to protect the user as in the given example (controlling outbound information), this would be understandable.
If done to give one an unfair advantage over an event, or process they are participating in (ie an online game, auction, etc), I personally consider this cheating.

My general glitch rule: Glitch for fun, not for advantage over others.

SangrelX 09-14-2008 02:11 AM

eh

I agree with Edwards post and Zeppers

also to further note on Zeppers Comments about packet editting

I was pointing out packet editing is not an illegal method of hacking - however yes editing packets to give an advantage is hacking (or cheating depending on how u wish to phrase it but both in this instance mean same thing)

But when i see someone with a 4000+ bounty and then I notice weird things happening - I love nothing more then to take that bounty from em LOL

it serves em right

mlratto 09-14-2008 06:17 AM

i'm a zepper you're a zepper wouldn't you like to be a zepper too. lol

should consider legal actions against people cheating in SvS

i agree with all your points ed...but legal action? i think sending them to davey jones locker should be satisfaction enough...if ya can...cause they're glitching. lol

even with all the nonsense that goes on in svs i am addicted. what's a level 40 pirate to do.

Chris 09-14-2008 01:12 PM

Legal action?!!? Ok the glitchers are annoying but i dont think we should fine them or send them to REAL jail..... unless you mean sending them to VIRTUAL jail....

Mhmmm Dr.Zeppers

SangrelX 09-14-2008 03:54 PM

I didnt pay attention to the legal action part on his post because that will never happen lol

Disney would never waste the time or money on taking legal action against someone using a glitch - for many many reasons lol
