ship stealing??

I read on the games official site a question from a gamer asking if ship stealing would be possible and according to the game's rep. they say yes but how? or is this just capped for testing? below is the question and the rep. response

From Chris:
Will you be able to take over other players ships? Is there going to be a leveling system for character build?

What would a pirate MMO be if you couldn't plunder other ships? As part of PVP combat, players can compete in ship-to-ship battles against one another. You'll also be able to fight the corrupt, money hungry Navy fleet and undead pirate ships lurking in the far reaches of the sea. Weaken these enemy ships, then grapple onto them, swing across, and swordfight with the crews. If you successfully capture the ship, you'll parlay with the captain then sack their cargo which can be sold for gold.

There is also a deep leveling system for character advancement based around what your character does in the game. For example, the more you use your sword, or other weaponry, the better you become. As you progress, you'll unlock new skills and improve upon existing ones. The same goes for sailing, card playing, and many other aspects of the game. The path you take is virtually limitless and completely up to you! To become a legend, you have to live as one!

I don't believe they meant that you could steal or take over a ship by "plunder other ships". Taking cargo from another ship - yes, but taking the actual ship - doubtful.

I have boarded Navy ships by swimming out to them. I have been able to take the helm and sail them. I haven't made it back to port yet as I died when the Guards respawned, but will let you know!

well you used to be able to jump off your ship and swim to a navy ship, climb aboard and run around sailing it. but you couldn't put it in a bottle, so it was only yours until you got bored.

to reproduce this now, yes you would just have to swim all the way out to a ship. you can no longer just jump off the edge of your own ship.

I didn't think of that. I was thinking taking ownership and keeping it for yourself.

If you're sailing a navy ship around, I wonder when someone attacks it if you can fight back (assuming the guards are dead) or if you have to be in PVP before you can do damage to the attacking ship.

I stole a ship once! I was working cannon on someones ship and they wanted to swap out, so once they set sail I took over sailing and...they both(the two crewmates) bailed on me! But I still had his ship so I took it out for a little spin! Muahahaha!

Ok so i'm guessing there's no way to stealing and recieve ownership, which is ok i guess maybe something the developers can add later.

You can't swim all the way out to it. As you try to swim out of the harbor it tells you you cannot swim in deep seas.

Yes, you can. It says that, but keep on swimming, you WILL get there. I have!:D
