Problem With War Frigate Crew Bonuses

If you steer a war frigate with a crew and some of the crew shoots at the front, your crew bonus for those crew members goes away. For example, you have a crew of five and two people shoot from the front. When you first get on the war frigate your crew bonus is 40%. Then when those two run to the front, your crew bonus is 30%. The same happens to the people at the front, although to a lesser degree. Their crew bonus is now only 35% instead of 40%. This only happens on a war frigate, possibly because of its length. I think this is very unfair. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, do you think its fair?:)

It is what it is.

Poor Cap'n

I fully understand having a range on land that contains your crew bonus zone, as moving too far apart can't lead to functioning as a crew.

But on the same war frigate? Everyone on front cannons and the captain gets no crew bonus? That's annoying.

It is what it is.....until someone changes it.:psmiley27:

Yes, this is a known situation. I actually use it each time the War Frigate vs War Galleon discussion comes up ;)

But nobody listens... hehe

the way things are i guess.i solve it by shooting from the side

There is a resolution to the problem, but it may be difficult to explain.

Captain: must take the wheel from the front side as close to the railing as possible.

======== <--railing
stand here
- <--wheel

Crew on front cannons: slowly walk towards the cannons. As you approach, stop as soon as you see the green circle that allows you to take the cannon. Take the cannon

This puts all the crew within the circumference needed to gain the crew bonus. I tried this with two of my pirates and a friend and we got full crew bonus for all pirates.

I believe this effect is worse on the Black Pearl. The frontmost 4 or 6 cannons fall outside the range of the driver. Messages not sent in CREW chat can't even be heard. Officers attuned with voodoo doll will lose attunement if running the the oval pattern (they used to follow straight, now they don't.)

If you zoom the compass all the way in, you get crew bonus for the purple dots that appear on compass. Seems fair enough; just be aware of tricky limitations like this and you are OK. I'd advise against relying on the "railing" glitch mentioned above - you never know when they will fix that glitch and re-orient the driver properly behind the wheel.

I believe you have misunderstood. It is not a "glitch" to stand next to the rail and then take the wheel. It is a matter of positioning your avatar so that the circumference of the crew bonus can be gained. It is also not a "glitch" to position the cannoneers at the outermost position of the cannon so as to gain the crew bonus.

In other words, my solution is not a glitch.

Perhaps you misunderstood what I meant. No offense, in calling it a glitch, was intended. However, the behavior changed around the time they released SvS - previously, a pirate avatar would be properly repositioned exactly behind the wheel. So, in my eyes, the behavior of it not properly repositioning the pirate is what I call a glitch.

Fair enough.

This has always been a problem as far as I know, well before SvS.

Its not a glitch, if anything its a bug, or something that the developers should adjust.
Rackats solution is to have the pirates basically as close as possible to each other and still be able to take thier positions/actions, overcoming the apparently very short offset.

Someone mentioned not getting crew chat when too far (on Black Pearl). This is a bug/glitch too, however it is not related to distance. I can be on crew, and on different islands far far away, and chat with crew. I have had open public chat not appear on pirates standing side by side.

Yea i noticed that too if you are at the front with the rest at the back you dont get full crew bonus oddly i just figured this out yesterday :D.
