Hijacked?

Wondering if anyone else has had their ship hijacked. :piratear:
Maria took out the Red Hawk for plundering today, opened up to public to get biggest crew and give folks a chance for some cannon reps. After a few successful runs when I went in for repairs the system wouldn't let me. Didn't think anything of it at first just went back out on another ship. When we got back in I tried again to repair, no luck. Boarded my ship and found a person still on board, firing his cannon and AFK. I tried to take the wheel and couldn't, tried to get the ship sunk and couldn't, figured when he filled the hold he'd leave. 2hrs later, after reporting the person for rude behavior, I still can't get control of my ship. :piratetongueor4:
Has anyone else been plagued by this "new" glitch?

Maria Redhawk - Mad Mutiny officer lvl40 full masters
Bettie Mcbatten - Mad Mutiny officer lvl40 full masters
Medusa - Mad Mutiny officer lvl24
Sue E - Mad Munchkins officer lvl19

First I've heard of this. What a shame for you. Hope this isn't something that will start happening a lot now. I haven't opened my ship to the public, and after hearing this, I probably won't.

I've had it happen to me where I can't repair a ship, but I think it was because we all went down with the ship, instead of landing in jail. But after about a day or so I was finally able to repair. It happened a while back otherwise I'd be more specific about how long it took.

I don't like to open to the public either so don't usually do it but, no guild members or friends were online and I got greedy thinking a bigger crew bigger bonus. :pirate2: Also, I don't mind helping others lvl up their cannons. Never will open ship to public again though, you can be sure of that. Just would like to have my ship back. :pirate6:

Did you put him in crew? Even if the captain leaves the ship, the crew will be able to stay on board. Course that doesn't explain why you couldn't take the wheel...

If you can't get your ship back next time you log on, I say give the live chat a try.

I remember something similar that was happening a few months ago and supposedly this was fixed with one of the updates.

I and a friend had boarded a spanish ghostship from my war galleon. Something glitched while we were fighting the skellies and we both landed in jail on Port Royal I went to repair and launch the ship and was not able to launch, got the same screen you get if you teleport ashore while your ship is at sea with crew aboard and you open the shipwright screen. My friend and I were the only ones aboard the ship when this happened so my ship was still at sea with no one aboard. We actually launched one of my friends ships and sailed right up to my ship which was still at the location where we had fought the ghost flagship. I had to log out of the game and log back in to get control of my ship back.

From the sound of what you describe it seems more like your ship had gotten glitched than an issue with this crewman taking over your ship. Even with someone taking over the wheel the owner of the ship is still able to regain control simply by taking the wheel back. The only exception to this is during a boss battle. If the crewman was on a cannon rather than at the wheel then, he wasn't in control of the ship.

I never use the public boarding permissions feature as I don't care for having people who I didn't personally invite and don't know aboard my ships. I might reconsider this if they were to add a walk the plank feature to the ship controls, allowing us to get rid of problem crew members and stowaways.

I've logged off and back on several times now and still have no controll.
I may have put this guy in the crew but, I LANDED. I didn't just leave. And that doesn't explain why the ship is now "ghosting". It can't be sunk and I still can't take the wheel. :/
Sent msg to support, sent screen shots showing ghost behavior, and reported the individual every hour for the last 3 hrs. If the problem isn't resolved by tomarrow I'll go the live chat route.
In the mean time Maria is beached. lol

Ive seen it happen before, its not really new I dont think.

I believe this happens when someone is TP'ing to the ship at the exact 'right' moment as it is being 'ported' by its captain. The ship remains sort of in limbo, cannons work, noone can drive it, and its usually invincible. If noone is on the ship, an quick relog will normally fix it. Sometimes it may require a server restart, which varies in frequency. If it remains a problem, I would recommend notifying them via Live Chat.

I like that idea a lot. Have often heard others mention it to even in SvS. lol
Giving support a shot at fixing this before I go for live chat.

Well however it happened it seems they got it fixed and even repaired my ship for me. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else but I'm NEVER letting public on my ships again.

Glad you got your ship back :)

That happens when someone teleports to you or a crewmmate the same moment you dock. You along with the rest of the crew land on the island while the person lands on the ship making it stuck out on the water. Reason why you can't grab the wheel is because, technically your ship "already" docked.

I understand now what might have happened and can understand the "stuck" individual enjoying the cannon reps but, I repeatedly asked him to leave so I could regain control of my ship. If I had been stuck in the glitch after a bit of "free" reps I would have (a) left the ship, (b) logged off or (c) if really stuck, rebooted my computer. I sure wouldn't have stuck it out for over 3 hrs while the ship's owner kept asking me to leave.
If this happens again to me or my friends we'll be sure to let support know asap.
thanks all for the info

Oh my, speaking of which, there should def be a "Walk the Plank!!" function for captains in that situation lololol. Sounds like the dude was either on Plus Chat (sooooo annoying coz they can't hear anything you say most of the time) or afk or something =(

i had this happen to me after someone teleported onto my ship then when i went to dock and go back out my ship was still out there i could get on my ship but had to use a map teleportation to get out i couldn't take the wheel or anything but after i got off my ship it went back to normal (fortunately no-one was left on my ship when i went to teleport out so it got docked eventually)
