I have never had this problem with my War Galleon. Seldom miss a shot/cannonball. It is not uncommon for me and my war galleon to just clear a path through fleets of navy ships.. sinking many with a single broadside. (the smaller stuff of course.. which is also harder to hit)

For cannons I find myself heading out past PDF and attracting phantoms and cannoning them down on their way in. Something I can do pretty much on my own with having another friend/sailor at the helm. Remember.. they 'almost' always turn left..
