I would much rather see a ship sail to the end of the world to hide out then to hide out in a island just so they dont have to sail to far away from the SvS playing field.
Scores and bounties are temporary.. you cant take them with you when you go to bed at night. If you don't plan on playing through lunch, port! Saves time for others who are trying to look for you.
Of course, my opinion and $1.25 will get you a cappucino.

I totally agree. The use of "sailing into an island" glitch in SVS in my opinion is flat out cheating. They aren't using it just to
powder their nose ... they are using it as an advantage when attacking other ships or running from sinking. Why sail around the island when you can sail through it. Think of the time and distance you can put between you and your pursuit. Or the distance you can cut off your pursuit of another vessel. Or they lay in wait to sneak attack a vessel that may pull up to Port Royal to repair.
I was flat out told that it can be done at will by someone who is in the know.
