This is a ridiculous idea.

The launcher application uses a standard decompression algorithm often used by malware because it's extremely efficient. This is the reason it's often flagged as a false positive by less-than-careful software (eg. AVG).

Pirates.exe handles its own log files when it's running. At this point Launcher1.exe is essentially doing nothing but waiting to get the "all clear" signal from Pirates.exe so it can note the game made a normal exit in the launcher log.

This is even more ridiculous. There a few simple ways to reduce lag in regards to anything:
  • Get a better (eg. lower latency) connection
  • Remove other network traffic
  • Get a better network card
  • Get a better network stack (networking in Windows has always tended to be weird and inefficient)
  • Get a better CPU (if the lag is coming from high CPU usage)
  • Get a better video card (this will help in 90% of cases)
  • Get more RAM (this will also help in 90% of cases)

Do you really think they'd need a background process running on your computer to affect things in a game operating on their servers?

This one is, actually, true. It's a low enough amount that it shouldn't be worth worrying about unless you're running on a bargain-basement computer from Wal-Mart or something, though.

This isn't how it works.
