I just used this trick this morning in Tortuga! Since the jail is right next to the entrance to the misty mire, I just kicked the door down, marched my pirate booty back into the mire and gave it another shot. Discounting the times that a rogue Crab or Alligator killed me on the way to my goal, I'd say that Trap killed me at LEAST 8 times before I prevailed.
