The second and third have no space between them available, what with the loss of Jack and all. Before the first, collectively, there was little connection with Will and Elizabeth, and none at all with Jack. After the third, Will would be captain of the Dutchman, and Elizabeth would no longer be living in a Governor's mansion, as well as being a Pirate Lord. It can be placed between the first and second because there is blank space there. It's sort of like historical fiction of the second sort: anything unknown in terms of events, namely when there is a gap between events, is fair to be made up.
Some other things include stufff like Barbossa and the clues on PiratesOnline that say things like he "...knows some things that only a dead man can know," leaving me to conclude he's somewhat dead.
