Well, personally, the Kraken, if released as an ACTUAL enemy that you can ACTUALLY fight at ANY time, would be great fun to fight. Of course, we all know Disney is capable of taking something with great potential and making it a complete let down.
On the oter hand, if the Kraken was something like you mentioned, i.e. a small event that involves your ship being randomly sunk, and thats it, well, IMO, that would be one thing only. FAIL.
What would I personally like to see? I want an enemy that actually takes a crew to take down, and even with a crew, it would still be hard. I want a sea monster that is about level 45-60 (yes, 60, I want a challenge,) which can be found with relative ease, yet some difficulty (by that, I would like to see it probably far out in Uncharted Waters, about south of Isla Tormenta or Outcast.) Face it people. For level 40s these days, there really is very little to no challenges out there (with the exception of the Assassin bosses and Boss Batlles, which at some times, even THOSE are easy.) Remember when you were one your first, lvl 15 pirate, when there were so many new challenges and quests for you? Well, that feeling is basically gone for those who have been playing this game for months, even years as a level 40 pirate. Even if your leveling a second pirate, its still not the same. What I want, is something, new, fresh, entertaining, fun, and challenging. Thats what I want to see in the Kraken.
As for your last question, if this is another huge let down, will I go back to basic? Honestly, I haven't put much thought into that. I mean, this game has ALOT of potential behind it. Even if this is a huge let down, I guess I'll just stick around and see what Disney has in store. Because face it. If I had no faith what-so-ever left in Disney, would I still be playing this game. Answer: No.
