Graphics Card is a Component (usually in the AGP/PCI/PCIe Slots..) You probably have no idea what those are, but anyways, your monitor cable Plugs into a port on your computer, if it's at the bottom, it's most likely in a port, if it plugs closer to the top of the computer, then it's an inter graded graphic.
Bottom line is, It sounds like you just need to update your Graphics Drivers, you have a Graphics card which allows you to play cool games.
To see your graphics card I have windows 7 so it's different to see it for me, but for Windows XP/Vista I believe this is how you would go about it.
XP you would go
"Right Click your Desktop" > "Properties" > "Settings" tab and click the "Advanced" button.
Vista you would go
"Right Click your Desktop" > "Properties" > "Display Settings" and "advanced" button.
You should see something similar to this.

See where mine says NVIDIA 8400 GS, I would go to the
http://nvidia.com website and find Display Drivers for an 8400 GS.
If you need further assistance please ask for it.
Hope this helps,
