To each their own way
If I was to master the Sword - I'd still wait until I had gerds first and mastered (you'd have them mastered in the upper mid-20's - and plenty of time to master the sword before getting into too much big trouble
)
I mastered the sword early on pirate #1 - and paid for that with gerds and other weapons later (nothing worse being L30 and having to go kill tiny enemies to catch up your L6 Dagger - bah
)
