I moved your thread to General Game Talk.

Also, I did reach level 40 without doing the Pearl Quest on one pirate. I did it without any glitching, or without a ton of help. This meant that I killed an awful lot of enemies and sank a lot of ships.

Apparently, I got a lot of bonuses and treasure drops.
